Angel Pip Magnets

SAM:  Last month we won fourth place in the 500th post drawing at Angel Pip's and Ruby's.  We won two magnets from their Zazzle store. 

RUSTY:  They arrived at the end of January but a few days later Jan almost knocked herself out flying in an enclosed space.

CYNDI:  The flying was okay. It was the landing that was the problem. We've been kept busy waiting on her ever since.

MICAH:  And we do mean waiting.  She is slow as molasses so very little has been getting done around here.

"Nice dogs don't always finish first (or second or third), but they do finish eventually."

SAM:  This is the magnet for us dogs.  We're sharing it with the cats, but it's really our magnet. 

"The show must go on ... even when you forget your lines and can't find the stage."

MERCI:  We'll give you one guess who this one is for! Yes, you guessed correctly.  It's for Jan.  She is getting more forgetful.  We love the magnets.  Jan is going to put hers on the metal desk.  We want ours on the fridge.  Thank you, Angel Pip and Ruby, for the lovely magnets. 

BUDDY:  Ann from Zoolatry sent Jan this Valentine card showing the bump on her head but her two black eyes are covered.  Our internet provider had an outage Saturday and this is our first chance to post this.  It made Jan smile.

PERCY:  Friday's episode with Marcus and Merci yanking her about to get at the aggressive dog that was coming after them has really aggravated the pain in her face, neck and legs.  She can barely bend her knee to step into the shower again. 

CAMERON: That made 3 aggressive dog encounters in one week.  One direct attack and two close calls. We all seem to have lost our sense of humor during these last two weeks.  Do you think Walmart might have some on sale soon?

Sam Tattles

Hi, Sam here.  There is so much bad news among the blogs lately, I figure we can all use a smile.  So I found a funny cat video.  Most of the material on it is new to us.  Hope you enjoy it.  .

Well, now that we've all had a few laughs, I'll share our news.  Jan is on a roll for making mistakes. More than usual. She posted 3 sample Christmas cards to our jff designs blog today. Only she posted two to this blog instead and had to redo the posts. So if you saw a couple of cards appear and disappear this evening, you weren't hallucinating.

And since the link in the posts went to the zazzle sign-in - well, like we said, she's on a roll. There is nothing like posting links from an account instead of from a store and then trying to correct them with a slow computer connection. It was fun watching Jan dissolve into hysteria as she yelled at the browser to "move it!" We don't listen. Why should the browser? If you'd like to see the new designs, they're posted on jff designs and in our zazzle store.

On the what did Jan do lately subject, she set two containers of dog food on the cabinet next to the washing machine so she wouldn't forget to feed us dogs. The washer was going so she set the food in the middle of the counter where it would be safe. Buddy's food was in a tall container that she absolutely hates because the lid pops off if she tries to pour food from it..

She was typing at the computer when the loud crash woke up all us furries. The washer had bounced Buddy's food container onto the floor and the kitchen floor was covered in dog food. Under all the appliances and clear into the bedroom.

I yelled, Don't worry, I'll take care of it, but Jan screamed at me - at all of us to stay out of the kitchen! At that volume we figured she meant it but we all tried to squeeze in anyway. I mean, how often do we get an all you can grab buffet snack?

As you can imagine, watching Jan cope with all her boo-boos has exhausted us, so we're going to go nap now so we can go to bed early tonight.

Hearty purrs and woofs to Ginger Jasper's family.  He has a heart problem and kidney failure.

Marg has posted a warning about PayPal Donate buttons that are used on blogs. Evidently, if you are not a licensed/registered non profit, PP will close your account and you could lose all or at best a big chunk of your donations.  This has been happening to a number of bloggers. 

We found this 2009 short post on the subject - Thinking About Using a PayPal "Donate" Button on Your Blog?.  Please note that it has a good suggestion and you don't need a button - anyone care to buy us some kibble?  We strongly suggest you never use the words "donate," "rescue," "TNR," or anything that could even remotely suggest you are a licensed non profit or a business.


We know that many of you have a Zazzle store and we're wondering if any of you who do have read the new terms of service and what you think of them? They are instituting major changes, including renaming some items "accessories" for which sellers would not receive a royalty and raising the payment limit and instituting fees for payment under the limit.  If you haven't read their email introducing it yet, we suggest you read it and click the link to read the entire terms of service.  UPDATE:  Chey's human has explained that the list of "Accessories" on the Zazzle site are not included in the list of "accessories" Zazzle won't pay a royalty on.  Jan is breathing again so we won't get to practice CPR today..

JFF on Mousebreath and Squidoo

We would like to thank our old friend Skeezix for typing The Funny Farmers Offer Retail Therapy with his own paws for today's Mousebreath.

We were so nervous at the ribbon cutting ceremony, we didn't even notice who was there.  But we figure he had to be cause he knows all about how we all wanted to participate in the ribbon cutting.  And believe us, it took real teamwork to keep the peace among the owners of the 8 paws involved. 

If you can remember back a few years, Skeezix was the one who nicknamed us as the Funny Farmers. Ah, the independence of having our own name.

We spent the entire afternoon working on a Squidoo lens for our blog.  And it was work!  We seem to have as much trouble figuring out how to do things as Jan does.  Why couldn't we live with a rich human with a young, uncluttered mind?

We were asked to pass a message on to all our friends who said a prayer for Sparky's family, whether or not you left a comment on their blog. Just as a reminder, earlier this month a comment was left on our blog asking for prayers for Sparky, and the other day there was a post on their blog explaining what happened and that Sparky had passed away, possibly from a blood clot after an injury.

Honorable Mention

Jan submitted an entry to the BlogPaws T-Shirt Design Contest in July. She thought she would be competing against some real graphic artists - those who have the knowledge, talent and software, plus an extra dollop of creativity. She was correct.

Yesterday Jan received some good news from BlogPaws co-founder Tom Collins. Her t-shirt design for BlogPaws received an Honorable Mention.

Buddy,, well-known for his pop into the mind and out of the mouth remarks, counted the designs on the page - 1 winner, 4 Runners Up and 5 Honorable Mentions - and innocently asked, "So there were only ten entries?"  (Pay no attention to Buddy. We have no idea how many entries there were.)

Entries were supposed to reflect BlogPaws. So Jan did some thinking. The house filled with smoke. (Okay, we're exaggerating about the smoke.)

To Jan, the central theme of BlogPaws is the animals, so she dug into photos she's taken of pets that have gone through the local shelter and picked 3 dogs and 3 cats. She misunderstood the instructions about colors and made her design black and white, but an artistic friend agreed it was more dramatic in black and white.

We would like to congratulate the winner, Papua Piig. (The pet's name, not the human's.) And congratulations to all the winners.You can view the10 designs at BlogPaws 2011 T-Shirt Design Contest.

From the beginning Jan had a Plan B. She emailed Tom Collins and was assured there would not be any conflict if she removed the BlogPaws text and put the design in her Zazzle store.

Tom graciously recalls, “When Jan asked about re-purposing her design to promote the adoption of shelter pets, we saw it as a wonderful added benefit from the contest, Since ‘Be the Change for Pets’ is one of the core themes of our BlogPaws conferences and community, Jan’s creative talent and her commitment to helping pets fit right in!”

Thanks, BlogPaws, for holding the t-shirt contest.  It was fun.  Well, it was fun for us.  Jan had to work.

And speaking of work, Jan has a project relating to our designs, which will consume a lot of her time for a while - not to mention hinder our blogging time. Plus, she has been preparing to reopen another blog soon with some new goodies.  So we might not be able to leave many comments for a while.  Rest assured, though, we will be hovering around Blogsville, as Amber DeWeenie calls it. 

Update: We heard from Tom Collins a couple hours after posting this. He tried to leave a comment and Blogger wouldn't let him. But he posted this on BlogPaw's Facebook page -

Cotton, Fishing with Bears

Hey, Cotton here with a quick post before I get kicked off the computer.

We all enjoyed this video so much we decided to share it. National Georgraphic photographer Michael Melford tells how he captured some of his beautiful shots of bears salmon fishing.

We figure salmon fishing would be great fun but we're not sure we'd like to compete with the bears for food. They look pretty serious and they're way bigger even than Sam.

We Funny Farmers hope Jan will sell lots of t-shirts and gifts in her zazzle store so we won't have to go fish with the bears to survive. We have Adopt A Shelter Pet, Spay and Neuter designs and our latest is Rescue Pets Rock. So if you know any rescuers, rescue groups, or animal-loving rescue supporters, we hope you will pass along the link for us.

Rescue Pets Rock!

Hey, Sam here. Not much news, I'm afraid. It's too hot for activity and Jan has been hogging the internet again. Personally, I think she should get her own computer and leave ours alone, but she says if we want to eat, we need to bug off. Do I look like a bug to you? Hrrmmph! I don't think so either.

Jan says, One of the tough things about growing older is you can't remember where you left your memory, even though it must be nearby since it was here five seconds ago. We think that's just an excuse because she's so slow at figuring things out.

But she did finally finish another design for our store, Rescue Pets Rock.

Yes, that's our lovely Merci, but not our Percy. Jan wanted to use real shelter pets. She found the perfect cat photo right away, one of the shelter cats that was adopted through the local Petsense. But the dog posed a problem. None of her photos would work. Then she remembered Merci was a shelter dog. (Have we  mentioned Jan is forgetful? Oh, right, only a few hundred times.)

We are not signed up for Google+ but we would like to share something we read this morning that is very important if you decide to join. As you know, your Blogger photos are stored in Google's Picasa. Whether or not you blog, we hope you don't store the only copy of any photos there because things can go wrong and they could be lost - forever!

We prefer to decide which photos we share with the public, so we most likely will not be signing up with Google+. If you join, your choices are to share all your Picasa photos with your circles, make all your photos public, or hit the delete button in Google+. But should you hit delete, you would not be deleting your Picasa photos from Google+. You would be deleting your Picasa account with all your blog photos. And you would not be able to recover them.

So, just in case you might ever decide to join Google+, The Real Blogger Status posted an article on this subject yesterday. Always remember, whatever you delete from Picasa will also be deleted from your blog.

Auntie Stinkie and Puddles for Pip

Percy here as one of our zazzle designs for this occasion. It seems appropriate since we're hanging around and resting up for the big party on Sunday.

Those who have been blogging for a while know Dr. Tweety of the Fab Five. But the family has had some health problems and haven't blogged regularly for a while, so many newer bloggers haven't met Dr T and his family yet.

Well, this is your chance to meet them. Auntie Stinkie turned 19 the beginning of May and they are throwing a big party for her this Sunday.

Their invitation is open to all their friends - old and new - so be sure to go by and help Dr. Tweety, Delilah, Maximillian and Iris celebrate their beloved Auntie Stinkie's big day.

So Sunday, May 8th, 9 a.m. to noon Pacific Time (that would be 12 noon to 3 pm Eastern Daylight Time - we're not sure about international time zones), Auntie Stinkie will host their blog and chat with her guests.

There will be the expected H-U-G-E ham, lots of nip, and probably tons of noms. Write it on your calendar and then remember to read your calendar (Are you paying attention, Jan?) We hope to see you all there.

Excuse us, we have to go look for loose change to see if we can afford to buy it for ourselves. Sam could actually stretch out and be comfy there and he really wants to move in.

Cyndi Spins Flowers

Hey, Cyndi here with a video I just can't resist sharing with you.

Bur first I'd like to remind you that today is Shabby Chic Day when kitties are posting their decorating tips on their blog. It's hosted by Milo & Alfie on the Cat's Meow blog.

And now for the awwwwww post of the day. This makes us all almost want to run out and meet a dolphin. But we cats not too sure we'd be happy that close to the water. The dogs? They aren't worried about falling in.

We aren't getting much computer time to post again. Jan is working on more designs for our Zazzle store. It's pretty tedious to post them so it's slow going and she has a lot more work to do.  We'll be napping while she works, but we'll open one eye on occasion to check on her so she doesn't slack off.

Cyndi is Newsy

Hi, It's Cyndi again. Please excuse me but I'm checking out the wrapper of a package I think contained some goodies. And Jan must be hogging them cause we haven't had a nibble of them yet. Yeah, computer hog, goodies hog - she's racking up some points in the minus range here.

As soon as I finish this post, I'm headed back to a warm bed for a snooze. It's a bit chilly and damp in here today, but we're not having sleet, so we're not complaining. Just snuggling.

We have an inter-species video for you today, an antelope in Africa grooming a cat. That's not something most of us are likely to see up close and personal in our lifetime.

As we mentioned the other day, Jan had to make a small change to some of our older Zazzle designs, so as long as she had to delete them and re-post them for sale, she redesigned some of them. She said we could post samples here but we didn't know she would actually write "sample" on them. I hope she never takes a picture of one of us in the litter box because she'd probably write "pee" or "poop" across it for all of you to read.


This is one Jan needs to memorize but the wisdom leaks through the holes in her head ... um, we mean it leaks through her ears.


This is one we live by. We don't worry, just relax and let our cares float away


We still like this one of Merci and Buddy. They were the canine "Odd Couple" when Buddy was a puppy. Merci was a neat freak and Buddy was ... well, messy. Jan would make them a neat bed and Merci would collect all the cat and dog toys into a neat pile, then Buddy would "straighten up."


Buddy has always been the clown of the Funny Farmers. But he just didn't know his own strength in this one.


Cotton says that when your human messes up, they should apologize to another human with flowers because flowers speak volumes. We furries, however, would prefer treats.


We just have to feature Sam's handsome face and blue eye.


Sam also has a sense of humor. He's quite the clown competition for Buddy.


And this one is for anyone who has misplaced their memory. Our celebrated brain surgeon Dr. Buddy can help! Well, he can help anyone but Jan. She says it's not good practice for any surgeon to operate on a family member.

Cyndi Wants Thumbs

Hey, it's my turn again. I'm Cyndi. We don't have any big news to report. We had a week or so of nice weather and we enjoyed having the back door open during the day, but the weather has turned colder and damp so we're all taking this opportunity to catch up on our naps.

We do have a fun video for you today. We know it has to be fun because we started this post earlier and just now we opened two emails from friends who have sent us the same video link on the same day. Must be a popular video.

Blogging kitties keep saying, "If only cats had opposable thumbs ..."  Well, we Funny Farm kitties will join you in raising a glass to toast the power of the thumb.

Jan is still hard at work on photos but she finished playing with the problem TIF files. Now she is busy working on making some changes to a few of our Zazzle designs. She started out with the intention of making just one minor change to each but decided as long as she will have to go through the whole process to re-post them for sale, she might as well have some fun with them and make some major changes. We would ask why, but we understand she used to do this major moving cycle with furniture. We would prefer she resume moving furniture so we can use the computer.

Cameron and Common Sense

Hi, in case you have forgotten me, I'm Cameron, the well-dressed Funny Farmer, with a fun video for you today.

These cats are obviously a bit confused over this new-fangled machine their humans call a treadmill. We've never met one but I'm sure we wouldn't have a problem figuring out what to do with it. Common sense "says" pull the plug! But these cats have an interesting method for trying to intimidate the treadmill into submission.

Jan finally finished three designs for our zazzle store. We hope none of them are supposed to be any of us because we don't see the teeniest resemblance. Do you?

Percy Tattles on FFs

Is it finally my turn? Are you sure? I thought you had all forgotten about me by now. But I'm Percy and I'm still one of the Funny Farmers.

The first note of business is to let you know the farm theme photo header was made by Gracie's mom. 

We have really enjoyed reading the performance reviews around the blogosphere the past few days. At least one of you admitted being bribed with num nums, a few of you we suspect were bribed but since you didn't specifically cop to it, we'll accept your human really is perfect, and all of your reviews were interesting and entertaining.

Which reminds me, I have a story to tell on us Funny Farmers about one of the reviews. But first, we need to explain that whenever we try to search for anyone we know on Twitter, Twitter swears profusely that some cat or dog doesn't exist - even if we have the correct @name.

Saturday we read the review by Zippy, Sadie and Speedy, collectively known as the Kattonic Cats. We saw their Twitter name and went right over to follow them before we forgot about it. Our plan was to copy and paste right from their blog and send them a tweet, and then click on their link in the tweet to reach their profile page. The perfect plan. Well, you know Murphy's Law, anything that can go wrong will.

Feeling really pleased with ourselves, we sent this tweet: @kattonic cats Hey, we're reading your purr-fur-mance review and thought we better follow you now, before we forget.

We didn't notice the space in the name, so when we merrily clicked on the link in the tweet ... oh, no! We were on the profile page of a complete stranger ... and his tweets were not in English.

We tried a search for @KattonicCats and as expected, Twitter told us they don't exist. Later, Zippy, Sadie and Speedy left their correct link on our post and, you guessed it, it was the one Twitter said it couldn't find. (We're @jansfunnyfarm in case any of you are interested. We would hate for you to get lost on a strange funnyfarm.)

But meanwhile, we had sent a stranger a message that wouldn't make any sense to him. In fact, we'd love to know how "purr-fur-mance review" translates into his language. And we dearly hope "follow you now" doesn't translate as the same word as "stalk." We did send an apology in 140 words or less but with our luck it was probably as cryptic as the first.

Today we have a video of living creations that will fascinate you. Or they did us. The imaginations of some humans is amazing. We hope you enjoy it, but we do want to emphasize we don't consider them "animals," as their inventor calls them.

Cameron Has Temp Amnesia

Hi, it's Crystal again.  Oh, my, no it's not.  I'm Cameron!  I really do know who I am.  It was just a typo.  But you can probably tell Crystal is heavy on our minds today.  We miss our handsome guy. 

We have another squee moment for you. Who would have thought? Well, we furries might but many humans wouldn't. But we furries can live together in peace-  as long as we don't try to eat the middle of the carrot at the same time.

Recognize this handsome guy? He's our latest Zazzle design - photo used with permission.  It took Jan a good part of two days to finish this because she forgets things faster than she learns them any more.  But she had fun figuring out what she wanted and how to do it.

And a reminder that our neighbors Friends of Pike County Animals needs your daily vote to get an adoption and education center in their rural Georgia county. They are 141st as we type this. They started at 155 and dropped back to 165 or 166th place and have worked their way back up again. In fact, they've moved up two numbers since yesterday. They still have a long way to go but with your help, anything could happen. You can vote here.

Cats, Santa Jasper and Dino

Hey, over here, it's me. You might not recognize me since Jan ran my puppy picture through Photoshop Elements a while back, but it's me, Buddy.  I was wearing my orange tug toy around my neck in the photo.  Wonder what happened to it? It wouldn't fit around my neck today since I'm a big Handsome Hound.

We don't have a whole lot of news.  Jan is still hacking up crud.  We're all staying out of trouble - for the moment.  But we're plotting.

These are the cute shelter kitties presently available at the Thomaston Petsense store in the Wal-mart shopping center on Highway 19.

  This young cutie is technically not available until next week but he or she (Jan just grabs a photo; she isn't given any information) just loved to play with fingers through the bars.

Jan must have taken 20 shots trying to get this lovely tortoiseshell to stay still long enough to get a shot of those beautiful green eyes. She wanted scritches and attention.  Oh, the tortie wanted scritches and attention, not Jan.

Remember this lovely girl? She's still available.

And so is this quiet kitty.

The adoptions are going well since Petsense opened in November so we hope all these kitties will soon have a good home. 

Thanks to Ginger Jasper's mom, we finally got to see what one of our designs looks like on a t-shirt being worn by a living human - Mollie and Lilli each wore one of our Santa Ginger Jasper 2 tee shirts - instead of just viewing the design on a Zazzle store picture model. From the family photos they posted, it looks like a good time was had by all present. You can see our design by scrolling down Ginger Jasper's Christmas photos.

Sadly, Dino The Golden Retriever's mom lost her brother Monday, just one week shy of his 46th birthday. She could use some hugs and warm words.

Keeping Warm, Jeremy and Fun Video

This is what we have been doing the last few days. Jan turned up the heat and it's still cold in here. But we're doing okay.

We are very sad for Criz whose cat Jeremy got sick and got outside before Criz could get him to a vet.  He searched hard.  A neighbor found Jeremy's body under the car.  Although we are sorry for his loss, we are relieved Criz doesn't have to keep searching and worrying.  We were concerned Jeremy had crawled off to hide and he would never be found. The other day we asked you to contact some folks regarding a planned "Crashing with the K9s" to help the Corpus Christi shelter animals. Sadly, we have just learned the City Manager canceled the whole fundraising event.  We don't know why, but we wonder why the city has rejected a plan for volunteers to raise money in order to help the shelter animals. Annie, Fluffy, Adoptable Cats

This is Sam. I'm the white one. Buddy and I are sharing host duty today because it's so cold we need the buddy system. And Buddy's teeth are chattering so badly, he isn't even talking - for once! So I get to do the talking while Jan turns up the heat a bit. Jaaaaan, you are turning up the heat, aren't you!

Anyway, our friend Gentle Annie has made a page titled Notes to Myself. It's short and pretty.

Fluffy of Creating a Likeness had to be helped to the bridge today.  If you haven't yet, we hope you will stop by and leave a word of comfort for her family.

The Petsense in the Wal-mart shopping center in Thomaston, GA  still has some nice cats up for adoption from the county shelter.  Jan was by there Friday before the naughty car broke down (guess what is for sure getting coal in its stocking this year!).  For lack of time, we'll just give you a quick rundown of what was available on Friday.

The tuxie tornado was still there, as well as the dilute tortie and 2 or 3 black cats. (So much has happened since Friday she can't remember.)

Cotton, Kitty and Rocky

Hi, I'm Cotton, or rather I'm Cotton's paw, to introduce our post for today. I haven't finished my daily beauty routine (I'm 11 years old), so I would prefer just to show you one tortie paw at this time.

We are posting this tonight to give Jan a smile after a long afternoon outside on her feet watching her car get taken apart and put back together.

As we mentioned yesterday, Jan's car broke down. The timing belt jumped time because it was shedding its teeth. They were just falling off. And humans get upset because we furries shed?

Doesn't look like a fun way to spend a day to us.  No toys or munchies in sight.

But she was fortunate to find someone to work in the Wal-mart parking lot so the car didn't have to be towed.  Now she needs a day or so to catch up a little on what she was going to do yesterday and today - clean the house and exciting stuff like that.  So we're going to catch up on exciting stuff too - napping.  She promised to wake us when it's time to post again. 

Although we know many of you already know of Rocky the Gutter Cat's passing, we would still like to mention him.  He left a sad family behind.  You can visit his blog here to leave a comment.

Cotton, Dorcus and Oscar

Hi, this is Cotton as a mosaic cat and I'm here to do a quick post because we probably won't get to do one tomorrow.

We were as shocked as any earlier today to learn Dorcus of the Thuglets was seriously ill. But before we could post it ,we have learned Dorcas was so sick she had to be helped to the bridge.  We are so sad for her family.  We hope you will go by The Thuglets' blog and leave some purrs and tail wags for her.

Also, Oscar from Got Kibble blog had to be helped to the bridge. His dad could also use some kind thoughts.

We send purrs and tail wags to both families.

Jan's car broke down on her way back from taking shelter dog and Petsense cat photos today.  She had to get a ride home and will have to hike back tomorrow..  She's ordered a timing belt and has someone lined up to fix it.  Hopefully!  She said she hopes we can eat less for the next month.  Gulp.  Sigh.

This is so important we just have to mention it here.  We are delighted President Obama signed Senator Richard Burr's Crush Video bill into law yesterday.  We hope this time the law has enough teeth to actually bite the jerks who participate or watch such cruelty. The depravity of humans is so often beyond belief!  And that is all we have to say on the subject.
