Hi, Sam here.  There is so much bad news among the blogs lately, I figure we can all use a smile.  So I found a funny cat video.  Most of the material on it is new to us.  Hope you enjoy it.  .

Well, now that we've all had a few laughs, I'll share our news.  Jan is on a roll for making mistakes. More than usual. She posted 3 sample Christmas cards to our jff designs blog today. Only she posted two to this blog instead and had to redo the posts. So if you saw a couple of cards appear and disappear this evening, you weren't hallucinating.

And since the link in the posts went to the zazzle sign-in - well, like we said, she's on a roll. There is nothing like posting links from an account instead of from a store and then trying to correct them with a slow computer connection. It was fun watching Jan dissolve into hysteria as she yelled at the browser to "move it!" We don't listen. Why should the browser? If you'd like to see the new designs, they're posted on jff designs and in our zazzle store.

On the what did Jan do lately subject, she set two containers of dog food on the cabinet next to the washing machine so she wouldn't forget to feed us dogs. The washer was going so she set the food in the middle of the counter where it would be safe. Buddy's food was in a tall container that she absolutely hates because the lid pops off if she tries to pour food from it..

She was typing at the computer when the loud crash woke up all us furries. The washer had bounced Buddy's food container onto the floor and the kitchen floor was covered in dog food. Under all the appliances and clear into the bedroom.

I yelled, Don't worry, I'll take care of it, but Jan screamed at me - at all of us to stay out of the kitchen! At that volume we figured she meant it but we all tried to squeeze in anyway. I mean, how often do we get an all you can grab buffet snack?

As you can imagine, watching Jan cope with all her boo-boos has exhausted us, so we're going to go nap now so we can go to bed early tonight.

Hearty purrs and woofs to Ginger Jasper's family.  He has a heart problem and kidney failure.

Cameron on Fun and Safety

Hey, Cameron here.  After our Saturday post on the internet and cats, Buddy, Merci & Sam said they are going to do a post on the internet and dogs. So never fear rumpydog, the dogs are on the internet too.

The dogs think they're going to help us with world domination. heheheHA!

For the fun part of this post, I have a cute leaf-diving dog video for you.  My woofie siblings could never play like this because Jan is too lazy to make them a play pile.  When she gets around to it, she makes a big pile on the curb.  Well, what fun would it be to dive in one end and come out in front of a moving vehicle?  Jan just has no sense of fun for furries.

It's never inappropriate to have a reminder about Internet safety.  Cat Patches recently posted a good piece on having gmail or blogger hacked - no, not how to do it but how to avoid being hacked - and we'd like to share the information with you.  It's called Thought You'd Want to Know. If you haven't read it yet, take a minute to drop by. You might learn something helpful.

We're in drought here and are finally getting some rain. Our weather radio is beeping about a bad storm coming so we're trying to finish up here. Rain is expected for the rest of the week. This is both good news and bad. We need the rain. But will Jan's clunker run in this weather without leaving her stranded?

If not, I guess she can hike to Wal-mart or Petsense and carry our food home. We have to eat and she needs more exercise. What better exercise than carrying a 36 - 40 pound bag on one shoulder and a 16 - 20 pound bag on the other? Jan is soooo lucky! What would she do for exercise without us?

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, Jan finally updated our jff designs blog yesterday. I don't know why she's complaining about enough hours in the day.  But she added 5 posts on Halloween so visitors can get a better idea of what they look like.  She's going to do some more posts today, if the weather cooperates.  Just click on "Halloween" in the tag list in the left sidebar.  If you like them, tel your friends.

JFF on Mousebreath and Squidoo

We would like to thank our old friend Skeezix for typing The Funny Farmers Offer Retail Therapy with his own paws for today's Mousebreath.

We were so nervous at the ribbon cutting ceremony, we didn't even notice who was there.  But we figure he had to be cause he knows all about how we all wanted to participate in the ribbon cutting.  And believe us, it took real teamwork to keep the peace among the owners of the 8 paws involved. 

If you can remember back a few years, Skeezix was the one who nicknamed us as the Funny Farmers. Ah, the independence of having our own name.

We spent the entire afternoon working on a Squidoo lens for our blog.  And it was work!  We seem to have as much trouble figuring out how to do things as Jan does.  Why couldn't we live with a rich human with a young, uncluttered mind?

We were asked to pass a message on to all our friends who said a prayer for Sparky's family, whether or not you left a comment on their blog. Just as a reminder, earlier this month a comment was left on our blog asking for prayers for Sparky, and the other day there was a post on their blog explaining what happened and that Sparky had passed away, possibly from a blood clot after an injury.

Please extend our sincerely appreciation for all the kindness and caring your friends extended us.

Percy, on Spike, Visa and Frontline

Hey, Percy here. We Funny Farmers have been very busy trying to learn to juggle and, like Jan, we're not very good at it, so if our posts are short, erratic or invisible, please forgive us.

We will be reopening jansfunnyfarm fair soon. Meanwhile, we hope you will visit our new blog, jff designs. Yesterday we posted the story of Rescue Pets Rock design.  It's a place to showcase our designs from our store, but not a sales blog. Our designs are unique and we're trying to spread the word inside and outside the entire blogosphere. We appreciate any and all help to do this.

I was a tiny kitten when Merci found and rescued me, so I asked if I could introduce today's video of two-year old Spike the pit bull and 2-month old Visa the kitten. Merci and I used to play like this, but we don't remember breaking any plates and cups, which evidently they did during filming. (Not seen in the video.)

I love the last line of their description, "And remember, pit bulls are not dangerous; people with video cameras are.  It made me smile.  They must be referring to Jan about the video camera. (Remember the goose convention?)

On Tuesday, we posted a warning on counterfeit Frontline. It was updated today and the update is enough to tick off those who use Frontline. There is now a controversy over whether the counterfeit frontline refers to repackaged frontline product or if it was all a scam to send consumers rushing to their vet to buy from them so the sales reps can get their commission. You can read the details here.

BBfP and Paws for Peace

So far we're doing okay in the preparation department for this year's BlogBlast for Peace in November. We have our Paws for Peace design ready to inform the world we furries also want peace. We deserve peace from cruelty, neglect and mass "euthanasia." Our calendar is marked for November 4; we just have to remember to check it.

It's never too early to begin your preparations.In fact, we believe BlogBlast for Peace is in process of counting down 100 reasons for peace on their Facebook page.  Their link - and our main post of today -  is on jff designs.  So pop on over and visit us there.

The blogosphere lost Kismet, another cat blogging legend yesterday, so give your human some extra cuddles and attention today. We just don't know how much time we will all have together.

Cotton, Fishing with Bears

Hey, Cotton here with a quick post before I get kicked off the computer.

We all enjoyed this video so much we decided to share it. National Georgraphic photographer Michael Melford tells how he captured some of his beautiful shots of bears salmon fishing.

We figure salmon fishing would be great fun but we're not sure we'd like to compete with the bears for food. They look pretty serious and they're way bigger even than Sam.

We Funny Farmers hope Jan will sell lots of t-shirts and gifts in her zazzle store so we won't have to go fish with the bears to survive. We have Adopt A Shelter Pet, Spay and Neuter designs and our latest is Rescue Pets Rock. So if you know any rescuers, rescue groups, or animal-loving rescue supporters, we hope you will pass along the link for us.

Rescue Pets Rock!

Hey, Sam here. Not much news, I'm afraid. It's too hot for activity and Jan has been hogging the internet again. Personally, I think she should get her own computer and leave ours alone, but she says if we want to eat, we need to bug off. Do I look like a bug to you? Hrrmmph! I don't think so either.

Jan says, One of the tough things about growing older is you can't remember where you left your memory, even though it must be nearby since it was here five seconds ago. We think that's just an excuse because she's so slow at figuring things out.

But she did finally finish another design for our store, Rescue Pets Rock.

Yes, that's our lovely Merci, but not our Percy. Jan wanted to use real shelter pets. She found the perfect cat photo right away, one of the shelter cats that was adopted through the local Petsense. But the dog posed a problem. None of her photos would work. Then she remembered Merci was a shelter dog. (Have we  mentioned Jan is forgetful? Oh, right, only a few hundred times.)

We are not signed up for Google+ but we would like to share something we read this morning that is very important if you decide to join. As you know, your Blogger photos are stored in Google's Picasa. Whether or not you blog, we hope you don't store the only copy of any photos there because things can go wrong and they could be lost - forever!

We prefer to decide which photos we share with the public, so we most likely will not be signing up with Google+. If you join, your choices are to share all your Picasa photos with your circles, make all your photos public, or hit the delete button in Google+. But should you hit delete, you would not be deleting your Picasa photos from Google+. You would be deleting your Picasa account with all your blog photos. And you would not be able to recover them.

So, just in case you might ever decide to join Google+, The Real Blogger Status posted an article on this subject yesterday. Always remember, whatever you delete from Picasa will also be deleted from your blog.

No Surfing Today

Rusty:

We don't have any special news today.  Except we're being kicked off the computer because Jan is going back to bed and she doesn't trust us on the net alone.  Something to do with the guys having too much fun "surfing."

Why is she going back to bed?  Something to do with kicking Buddy and Sam around this morning while making strange sounds.  Oh, Cotton says those are moans.  Sam and Buddy are not too happy with her because they couldn't sleep well.  Not with Jan getting up every hour on the hour and dumping them on the floor.  And then for 2 or 3 hours she kicked and flailed until we finally just had to get up and come sleep in our own beds.

Cameron is upset with her too. Buddy yelled at him for kicking his him in the head but all Cameron was doing was attacking Jan's moving feet under the covers.  He should have yelled at the one responsible instead of an innocent bystander.

Well, the rest of our post is ready so we'll just follow Jan into the bedroom and pile on the bed for warmth.  Wait!  What's this about furries not invited?  No, she can't put up the gate to keep us out.  Oh, I just remembered it's the dogs the gate keeps out.  We ...  No, Jan, you absolutely can NOT close the doors too!

On second thought, if she has something contagious, like the flu... Okay, we can all sleep in our own beds for one day. But if she clears the couch and lies down ... No, Buddy, I get first dibs on the couch.  Unless she starts kicking again.  Then you can have it.


We haven't posted since Sunday because Jan has been very busy trying to figure out some new designs.  Thinking of designs is sometimes easier than trying to get them to work.  Below are the latest ones in a very small size.  If you visit our store and click on any design folder - some folders have more than one design in it - you can get a better idea of what each looks like on a product.  You can even magnify it to see the detail and colors better. 

How can you resist him? He's begging for a home.And so are his siblings.

We do have a lot to be thankful for..

Thanksgiving or not, always count your blessings.

 Jesus is the reason for the celebration so we thought this card design appropriate. 

And of course Buddy just has to play Santa on his own Christmas card and t-shirts.

Of course the actual designs on products do not have the jansfunnyfarm watermark or "sample.".

Soup of the Day

Well, hooray, it is finally my turn to post.  I am often forgotten around here because I'm so quiet.  Oh, who am I? Sorry,  I forget to introduce myself.  I'm Sam, the largest and floofiest of the Funny Farm cats.

Update: Sorry, guess I shouldn't have tried to fool you. Scylla, Socks, Atemesia & Fenris guessed correctly.  I'm not Sam. He's a dog.  I'm actually Rusty. But I wanted to show you why we've started doing some individual posts. You all know us as the (Furry) Funny Farmers instead of as individuals, so we're trying to introduce ourselves. We hope you'll get to know and recognize each one of us.  So, no, SSA&F, you aren't confused. You just know us a little better than we thought anyone might. You have a sharp eye.

As you can see, we didn't get to re-size the items in our sidebars yesterday, but we did get a new page created.    We're doing our best to get around to visit so don't give up hope on us just because we don't get to leave a comment. 


Our friend Katie of Katiez Furry Mews has opened The Purple Kattery at Bonanzle.  She would love to know you stopped by to visit her booth.

Friends Glow

Hi, Cyndi here. The guys told me I can do a post by myself today. We know it's easy to confuse us so we'll try to do some individual posts so you can learn to tell us apart. I'm the medium-hair calico.


Jan says she feels "brain dead" now -- can you tell by the title she suggested -- and can't think any more tonight so we're going to set this for auto post in the morning and curl up to watch our one network TV. We wish all of you a very happy and fun weekend. We're going to spend it watching Jan sweat at the computer. Not very exciting, but, hey, we need to keep an eye on her so she doesn't slack off.

She almost had 2 new designs for tonight but at the end she didn't like something and there weren't enough undo turns to restore something she took out, so she's going to have to start over again tomorrow. She's really tired of redoing this one car!

But she did finish Friends Glow - Buddy and Crystal napping together. We like the design because it reminds us how special friends are.

And while we're on the subject of Buddy Glow, Jan deleted all of the Buddy Glow products at zazzle and redid them all with a larger size and higher ppi. So, yep, we have Jan working hard on our behalf so we don't starve. It's nice to be loved, and we love Jan too even though we pick on her a lot. Thanks to all of you who have been encouraging us in one way or another.

We always enjoy hearing from Lulu and Lolly, the small Maltese dogs with a big sense of humor. We'd like to share a link to their post on National Humin Day Established by Enterprising Canines. We hope you will go by to read it.

Oh, great, for the second night in a row, we set an auto post for the next morning and it proceeded to post immediately. So if you're wondering what is going on with our posts appearing and disappearing, you know as much as we do about it.

Well, thanks for being good listeners. It's been fun doing my own post. I'm not a fast typist like Percy is, so this has been a workout for me. Time for my pre-bedtime nap. Night.

Cute Dog Countdown

Yesterday we posted a cute cat video so tonight we'll post a cute dog one. This is a very intelligent dog, doing tricks like Skid Boot used to do. However, we're not sure we can say the same about the intelligence of the humans who seemed fixated on the numbers six and eight. We're sure you'll enjoy this, though.

Sam glued Jan to the computer chair today and Percy dangled a piece of ham in front of her nose so she would get some work done. But when she finished and Cotton said it was okay to let Jan have the ham, Buddy stood up, grabbed it, and swallowed it whole. He spent the afternoon weakly lying in a pool of his own drool by the computer chair, so we're thinking of forgiving him. But he could at least have shared with the rest of us.

But Jan did make some more products today from some of the designs she already has on our zazzle store. And she made two new ones. So she did earn some dinner, even if she did have to cook it herself.

Courthouse Dogs

Yesterday we posted on Zoey, the grief therapy dog at a funeral home. Today we want to bring you another type of therapy dog -- courthouse dogs.

From the website:

A courthouse setting can be an intimidating place for most people who enter the building to participate in criminal or family court matters. However the presence of a well-trained dog that provides emotional support by offering a soft head to stroke can make the experience a less stressful one.

Since 2003 courthouse dogs have provided comfort to children who have been sexually abused while they undergo forensic interviews and testify in court. The dogs also assist drug court participants in their recovery, visit juveniles in detention facilities, greet jurors and in general lift the spirits of courthouse staff who often conduct their business in an adversarial setting.

In the King County Bar Bulletin, Superior Court Judge Wesley Saint Clair, who has had the experience of a facility dog assisting two witnesses during a trial and providing companionship to everyone in the drug court setting, stated that he “finds that the dog's presence dissipates tension for everyone when dealing with difficult issues and provides a sense of normalcy.”

We think it's terrific that humans are finding we furries are not just flea buffets but flesh and blood comforters. There are entire blogs dedicated to therapy dogs. And we know a few therapy cats in the Cat Blogosphere.

So, if all these dogs and cats can be therapy animals, why won't Jan let us do therapy on her toe? Does she have something against furry therapy?

Zoey, Grief Therapy Dog

Humans are finding new ways to allow furries to help them. We already know we're comforting to be around in times of stress and few things are more stressful than attending the funeral of a loved one. so what could be more natural than a therapy dog for a funeral home? (We kitties would like to know whether there are any therapy kitties for funeral homes? We're comforting too.)

Most of the time Zoey the golden retriever is just a typical, good-natured family pet. She cheerfully submits to being dressed up in little outfits to play house with the three young girls who adore her. She's a regular on family rollerblading outings. And when things get a little slow around the house, she rounds up the family's socks and slippers for reasons known only to her. But about once a week, she dons a red and yellow vest and slips into another role. Zoey is a grief therapy dog. She offers empathy and comfort to friends and relatives who have gathered at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home in Flat Rock, Mich., to say goodbye to a loved one. "It's almost as if Zoey knows that her calm presence just seems to make people who are sad a little less sad," says the dog's owner, Kelly Dwyer, whose husband owns the funeral home where Zoey has become a regular. It's been a while since we've added a new design to our Zazzle store but we think you'll like the new one. There are a few miscellaneous items displaying it on the site and once it's approved by the USPO, it will be available for sale from our store as a 44 cents US postage stamp.

Saturday afternoon we learned from our friend Khyra of a woman in North Georgia whose rescue was closing down. The economy is hitting many rescues hard and funding has dropped significantly. Rescue is stressful enough, but this was evidently too much stress. She died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Most of the dogs are already gone, but there are still about 20 left at Dog Pack Rescue in need of a home. Some of them are pictured here. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of .Shari Johannes.

JFF Designs Is Now Open

Finally, the Jan's Funny Farm Design store at Zazzle.com is now open. It's bare bones, not fully set up yet, but we hope you will stop by and check it out. She tried to put in a little variety. You don't have to buy to browse. This is going to be short, as Jan kept us up until 2:30 am this morning trying to get these first designs posted. We could have gone to bed earlier but Jan goofed and goofed and goofed and ... finally she deleted everything and just started over, leaving only these 8 t-shirts. We think we deserve a special treat for keeping her company. She was so intent, she didn't even realize we were all freezing, including her. So she is creaky, cranky, stiff and sniffly. We're going to keep our distance in case she's contagious.
