Happy New Year 2010

We wish all our friends a very prosperous and healthy 2011.

2010 has been a year of mixed emotions.  We have lost so many blogging friends - including several legends - and we lost our own Crystal too.  It has also been a year of blogging kindness and generosity, for which we are immensely grateful!  The supportive spirit of pet bloggers never ceases to make us smile.

We would like to think that 2011 will be a year of less tears and sorrow but the reality is that the more pets that enter the blogging world, the more illnesses, losses and tears there will be.  And as the original blogging cats and dogs age, the more good-byes will be whispered through leaky eyes and broken hearts.  The same is true of our non-blogging friends.  We share your sorrows too.

But we will also share lots of laughter, participate in fun contests, meet new furry bloggers, and reconnect with a few ex-bloggers who were absent for a season.  It will be a year of mystery, as we don't yet know what it will hold, but our prayer for all of you is that it will be a year rich in friendships and love.

We would like to end 2010 on a happy note.  Wednesday we posted photos of 4 shelter cats up for adoption at the Thomaston, Georgia Petsense store.  When Jan stopped in Thursday, two had already been adopted - the tortie with the pretty green eyes and the white & tabby.  Still available were these two - a lovely calico and an orange & white kitten.

Esperanza, Mother of the Year

Hi, Percy here.  As you can tell, this is one of those lazy days.  So if you don't mind, I'll just introduce today's post while lying down with my eyes closed. Jan's hacking is still keeping us awake most of the day, so we have to catch a few winks when we can.

But I'm awake. hones ...zzzzz.  Oh, sorry.  I almost dozed off.  This kitty bed cushion is so soft and comfy.  We don't have any news, so we'll just get right to the post.

Esperanza, Mother of the Year at Edmonton Humane, cared for and nursed 5 healthy puppies and a kitten, despite a severe fracture of the femur.  When found and turned into the shelter, she needed surgery to repair her leg. Jake the kitten was temporarily separated from her canine family so she could learn to eat cat food.

If the video doesn't play, click here.

In an effort to save her leg from amputation Esperanza had the donated surgery on December 8 and was reunited with Jacob.  The whole family will be going into foster care when a suitable home for their special needs is found.

Hope you enjoyed the vid ... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Cats, Santa Jasper and Dino

Hey, over here, it's me. You might not recognize me since Jan ran my puppy picture through Photoshop Elements a while back, but it's me, Buddy.  I was wearing my orange tug toy around my neck in the photo.  Wonder what happened to it? It wouldn't fit around my neck today since I'm a big Handsome Hound.

We don't have a whole lot of news.  Jan is still hacking up crud.  We're all staying out of trouble - for the moment.  But we're plotting.

These are the cute shelter kitties presently available at the Thomaston Petsense store in the Wal-mart shopping center on Highway 19.

This young cutie is technically not available until next week but he or she (Jan just grabs a photo; she isn't given any information) just loved to play with fingers through the bars.

Jan must have taken 20 shots trying to get this lovely tortoiseshell to stay still long enough to get a shot of those beautiful green eyes. She wanted scritches and attention.  Oh, the tortie wanted scritches and attention, not Jan.

Remember this lovely girl? She's still available.

And so is this quiet kitty.

The adoptions are going well since Petsense opened in November so we hope all these kitties will soon have a good home.

Thanks to Ginger Jasper's mom, we finally got to see what one of our designs looks like on a t-shirt being worn by a living human - Mollie and Lilli each wore one of our Santa Ginger Jasper 2 tee shirts - instead of just viewing the design on a Zazzle store picture model. From the family photos they posted, it looks like a good time was had by all present. You can see our design by scrolling down Ginger Jasper's Christmas photos.

Sadly, Dino The Golden Retriever's mom lost her brother Monday, just one week shy of his 46th birthday. She could use some hugs and warm words.

Deer Rescue, Bebe and Cathy

We haven't posted since Christmas Eve but we've been visiting and trying to relax a bit.  Jan still has the respiratory crud and is running out of energy already today. We hope all of you who celebrate it had a lovely Christmas.

Earlier this month two deer were rescued by local residents from off the frozen Mississippi. We thought we would share this with you. You can imagine that after spending two days stranded on the ice, they were mighty happy to be rescued.

Well, we had the video posted but we found it horribly annoying that it auto played every time one comes to this blog and since this is our home page ... We couldn't turn it off so we just deleted the video. However you can still view it here.

Bebe from Pumpkin's blog had a tumor on his liver and although he lived longer than the vet thought, he was helped to the bridge this morning.

And Cathy, the kitty of the boyfriend of Piggy & Grover's mom, was snowed in when she got sick.  She was finally able to get to a vet but she had some type of fast growing bacterial infection and she didn't make it.

We send purrs and tail wags to both families, who are missing their furries.

UPDATE: We just learned Vinny from Whisker Messages from a Church Cat had to be helped to the bridge today. We are sad for their family too.

Christmas 2010 and Cotton

Merry Christmas to all our friends, old and new.  We wish you a blessed day of peace, reflection, joy and worship for Jesus, the One whose birth we are celebrating.

Our lovely Miss Cotton is resting up for the big adventure of her life.  She won Clooney's contest and not only does she get seed money for her Num Num Fund (as usual, Buddy & Sam are drooling at the thought of food), but she gets to ride on the back of his Harley for a ham picnic.

You can read Clooney's post and Cotton's winning comment at Clooney's Num Num Fund blog.  Thanks, Cloon, this was a fun contest.  Oh, and to see the original contest photos, check out the original contest post.  Perhaps you too would choose Biker Dude, but, on the other hand, you might prefer one of Cloon's other personas.

Sadly, the mom of Shaggy, Scooby & Scout over at Little Cat Feet just lost her sister Carol to a a terrible disease called Scleroderma. We know this is a very hard time for her and know you will all stop by to leave kind words. We send hugs, purrs and tail wags.

Misc This and That

4 cats have been abandoned in the Southfield, Michigan area and Animal Control will not help.  They need to be rescued before they freeze/starve.  You can read more about it on Cat Chat.  Please pass on the information so these cats can be rescued.

Ah, yes, if only every shelter dog and cat could get its Christmas wish for a happy home.

Opy, the Original Gruff Puppy, died today. She was 14 years old.  Her family co-founded the DWB (Dogs With Blogs).  The DWB was put on hold when Charlie died and they just lost heart for continuing, so things are looking even grimmer for it now. There are so many dogs who started blogging through the inspiration and camaraderie of the DWB, and they are grieving too.  We never joined the DWB because it's easier to handle one blog where we're all together than each of us as individuals - even though there are only 3 of us dogs - but many of our friends belong. We hope Opy's family can draw comfort and hope from the many who love them.

We mentioned the other day that Moe ran off to the bridge Sunday but we didn't have a link for him because he didn't have a blog. But his mom will be starting one for his sisters and there is a memorial photo of him on today's CB post.

Remember Wyatt and Storm, the two dogs turned into an Arizona shelter a few months ago that reportedly were in the care of a friend for a deployed soldier?  Well, it turned out to be a rumor.  The dogs did not belong to a soldier overseas.  You can read the story here.

However, according to their Facebook page, the two dogs were adopted into a home together in November.  That was the only place we could find an update.  The dogs are safe because the misunderstanding brought out the best in a lot of folks who worked separately and together to find the soldier or find them a new home.

Jan has a respiratory something or other and although she feels pretty good for feeling so miserable, she's not accomplishing anything.  So we need to go snoopervise and get her cleaning our house.  It's a mess!  She says it's because we cats have knocked things to the floor and we dogs have dragged our bedding around and spread it so she doesn't even have a walking space, but we all know that's just a human excuse.  After all, what would she have to complain about without us?

Cats, Photo Contest and Bridge

Since a Petsense store opened in November, cats that would be killed at the local shelter are being adopted.  We stopped there Monday and photographed the new arrivals, and before we could post the photos, 4 cats  were adopted the same day.  When we dropped in Tuesday, there were 3 cats left with more arrivals due.  This is wonderful.

So if you're looking for a cuddly cat, drop by Petsense in the Wal-mart shopping center in Thomaston, Georgia.

We have a cute tuxedo kitten.

A sweet looking white and tabby.

And a dainty calico and white.

You can check out some of our local available dogs on Petfinder.

This is our friend, Gracie. She's not up for adoption. But we want to let all of you know about the Furriends of the CB Auction Christmas Photo Funraiser running through December 26 and all you have to do enter is to make a $5.00 donation to Brighton’s auction and email the photo to Gracie. (Check the auction rules for her address.) You can enter as many times as you like as long as you make a $5.00 donation per photo. Show something that you especially enjoy during the holiday time. Real photos or photo shopped photos will be accepted. The winner will be announced New Year’s Eve and they will receive a $20.00 prize paw picked out by Gracie. Help her make this a successful photo contest - please tell all of your friends about it.

And Gracie adds, Any furrie can enter! We do not discriminate with the doggies. They are my pals too!!!

So find a photo and submit it before you forget. Your $5 donation will help with Brighton's vet billand you could win a $20 prize package.

TravisLittleMan's sister Sammi had to be helped to the bridge Monday. They're fairly new to blogging and his family could use some encouragement.

Also, Moe ran off to the bridge after battling megacolon.  He doesn't have a blog but comments for his mom can be left on the Cat Blogosphere

And our friend Genghis Khat's human Pellie has been very sick.  They tried to save a kitten they named Midnight but he was a feral and despite their help, he died in the cold.  They could use a kind word on their blog too.

Cyndi is 7 and Dogs in Brazil

We can't believe our Cyndi is 7 years old already.     And we have been so busy, we all forgot her (assigned) birthday. We don't actually know the day she was born. She was trapped under Jan's brother's car by his pointer for nearly a week before he and Jan were able to capture her.  And was she elusive!  You wouldn't believe how many places there are to hide in the engine and underneath the body.

We were reminded of her birthday after midnight when we checked today's Cat Blogosphere post.  Thank you, KC, for keeping on top of special dates.  And since this is Cyndi's special day, she would like a special present.  We'll let her explain it.  Go ahead, Cyndi.

I have a favor to ask of our readers.  Would you please stop by Dogs in Brazil blog and leave a nice note for the blog owner? We ran across the blog the other day when the owner asked about some special bowls we reviewed quite a while ago.  We're not sure how much it costs to mail a package to Brazil, but after Christmas we want to find out and donate the bowls for a couple of their "special needs" dogs.

We went through and read quite a number of posts.  It broke our hearts to read about the terrible conditions for dogs and dog rescuers in Brazil. (If things are this bad for dogs, we fear they are worse for kitties.) This rescue couple has spent all their own money saving street dogs and are losing (or have already lost) their home and are worried about where they will go and what will happen to their dogs, all of which have medical needs. They have a bakery but it doesn't bring in enough money to pay all the costs.  They have a small purse but a big heart for the forgotten and abandoned dogs in Brazil.

One of her original posts mentioned how folks in other countries don't care about the plight of animals in Brazil and we all think that maybe it's time we learn about them and try to help them, even if only in a small way.  Conditions for animals there are terrible.  Can you help?  It's Christmas, a time for giving.  If you can spare a couple or a few dollars (we say few because Chip In is PayPal and they take 2.9% plus 30 cents off the top of every donation, plus an extra 1% for over the border payments.)  But even if you can only spare $1, it could help them.  Dollars add up.  If you can't donate, you could still help by leaving an encouraging comment letting them know that folks in other countries do care.  And your humans could say a prayer for them to be able to find a place to live where they can keep the dogs they are helping and pay off their vet bills.
Yes, this is what I would like for my birthday - help for these determined folks who work tirelessly to save lives. They have a Chip-In button in a post.  We hope they will move it to the sidebar so folks can see it when they visit.  We just stopped by and they have added an update.  We hope they will be greatly blessed for all they have been doing without financial help or encouragement.

And on a cheery note, we Funny Farmers would like to thank every kitty, woofie and human who participated in our Bark It Furward commentathon over the weekend.  Milk Bone is donating $1 for each comment to Canine Assistants.  We had so much fun spending Milk Bones' money.  :)

Bark It Furward Commentathon

We have never done a commentathon before because much as we would like to donate to a worthy pet cause, we just don't have a piggy bank to break open.  But today we're going to do our first one on Milk-Bone's Bark It Furward dollar.  Yes, you read that right.  Each comment left on this post will be worth $1 US.

For 12 years, Milk-Bone has donated a portion of the proceeds to help Canine Assistants.  In 2010, Milk Bone created Bark It Furward, a program created to raise awareness and funds for Canine Assistants, a non-profit organization that trains and provides service dogs for children and adults with physical disabilities. Founded in 1991, Canine Assistants has provided 1,000 service dogs to people across the country, giving them the chance to have more independent lifestyles.

Canine Assistants has their own breeding program at the Milton, Georgia facility, primarily Goldens or Labs, but they occasionally adopt from local breeders or organizations. Puppies begin training at two days old and training lasts about a year and a half. Some of the tasks the dogs learn to perform include turning lights on and off, opening and closing doors, pulling wheelchairs, retrieving dropped objects, summoning help and providing secure companionship.

Many people in need of a service dog depend on Canine Assistants to pay for the lifelong care of the dog. Without the help of any government funding, Canine Assistants relies on the generosity and private donations made by philanthropic partners like Milk-Bone to help pay for the training of these special needs dogs.

We hope you will leave a comment to help raise funds for Canine Assistants. And if you are interested in participating with a blog post of your own, just send us an email or include your interest in a comment.  Bark It Furward will run through January 4, 2011.

Before you go, take a minute to meet young Zoe and her canine assistant.

Limber Your Typing Paws

We're doing a quick post to let you know our commentathon is scheduled to start at 12:01 AM tonight and we hope you will come by to find out what group it's for and how much you will be donating with your comment.  Please limber your typing paws so you'll be ready to help.  And don't be afraid to invite your friends, family and even your enemies to help this worthy pet cause.

For now, we have another pretty post by our friend Gentle Annie, Grandma's Homemade Christmas Card..

We inadvertently omitted a well-known blogging friends with a store. My Cat Goma

And if you haven't checked out our Zazzle store, we hope you will drop by. You can now order coasters or ornaments with your pet's photo or your child or grandchild's photo. Or even with your own photo to give as a gift.

Keeping Warm, Jeremy and Fun Video

This is what we have been doing the last few days. Jan turned up the heat and it's still cold in here. But we're doing okay.

Here are two Lab brothers, River and Trout, snowboarding without boards. Sure looks like fun, doesn't it!

If the video doesn't play, click here.

We are very sad for Criz whose cat Jeremy got sick and got outside before Criz could get him to a vet.  He searched hard.  A neighbor found Jeremy's body under the car.  Although we are sorry for his loss, we are relieved Criz doesn't have to keep searching and worrying.  We were concerned Jeremy had crawled off to hide and he would never be found. You can visit and leave a kind word on Criz Cats Sanctuary blog.

The other day we asked you to contact some folks regarding a planned "Crashing with the K9s" to help the Corpus Christi shelter animals. Sadly, we have just learned the City Manager canceled the whole fundraising event.  We don't know why, but we wonder why the city has rejected a plan for volunteers to raise money in order to help the shelter animals. If you missed the post, you can read the details here.

And if you haven't checked out our Zazzle store, we hope you will drop by. We think you can still order in time for Christmas. You can now order coasters or ornaments with your pet's photo or your child or grandchild's photo. Or even with your own photo to give as a gift.

Help Corpus Christi Shelter Pets

We are planning to post a fundraising commentathon shortly. Don't worry, it won't cost you anything but a comment. We hope your weather will cooperate. We'd hate to end up commentless (yes, we know there is no such word) because you're all huddled under blankets and can't see the monitor or reach the keyboard. So be sure to thaw out and have your paws ready to type - please.

We are happy to tell you the tuxie tornado was adopted from Petsense yesterday.  Someone was interested in the dilute calico, but if the cat isn't adopted by Christmas we know who has his eye on her.  ;)  Here is a photo of the one we were missing yesterday.

Reminder, these are shelter cats adoptable through Petsense in the Wal-mart shopping center, Thomaston, Georgia.

We were working on a different post for today when we received an email from an animal welfare friend in Corpus Christi, Texas. In the interest of time, since this needs to be done today, we are just printing the email as it was received - well, almost. Even though most of you don't live in Corpus Christi, we hope you will take a few minutes of your time to contact these people and ask them to support "Crashing with the K9s." It is for a very worthy cause.  Thanks.

PLEASE EMAIL THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE IN A TOTALLY SEPARATE EMAIL ASKING THEM TO SUPPORT THE "CRASHING WITH THE K9S" TO RAISE FUNDS TO HELP THE ANIMALS! PLEASE DO THIS ASAP SINCE THEY WILL MAKE THE DECISION TOMORROW. PLEASE SEND THIS TO ANIMAL LOVERS NEAR AND FAR!! BELOW IS THE DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT!

On Friday, December 17, 2010 at 5 pm, Animal Control Advisory Committee volunteers including our shelter manager want to “Crashing With the K9s” (hopefully). These volunteers will sleep in the cages with a dog to raise awareness of animals at the facility, bring people to our shelter, and encourage the public to adopt a pet and give them a forever home for the holidays. There will even be Santa Claus in the kennels that needs to have his fees paid for Christmas for the pets.

The volunteers have a goal to raise $2,500 each to pay their “impoundment” fees. As the amount is raised per volunteer, they will be released with proper licenses and tags of course! J

The donations will be made through PAAC – People Assisting Animal Control on their website.

100% of the funds raised will be used to pay for a part-time employee to work with the animals in the no-kill adoption program. The more we can adopt out, the more we can save and the less we can euthanize. The city has cut staff and we need help to save lives!

Annie, Fluffy, Adoptable Cats

This is Sam. I'm the white one. Buddy and I are sharing host duty today because it's so cold we need the buddy system. And Buddy's teeth are chattering so badly, he isn't even talking - for once! So I get to do the talking while Jan turns up the heat a bit. Jaaaaan, you are turning up the heat, aren't you!

Anyway, our friend Gentle Annie has made a page titled Notes to Myself. It's short and pretty.

Fluffy of Creating a Likeness had to be helped to the bridge today.  If you haven't yet, we hope you will stop by and leave a word of comfort for her family.

The Petsense in the Wal-mart shopping center in Thomaston, GA  still has some nice cats up for adoption from the county shelter.  Jan was by there Friday before the naughty car broke down (guess what is for sure getting coal in its stocking this year!).  For lack of time, we'll just give you a quick rundown of what was available on Friday.

The tuxie tornado was still there, as well as the dilute tortie and 2 or 3 black cats. (So much has happened since Friday she can't remember.)

There is a pretty tabby and white cat (no photo) and this black, brown & gray tabby.

Any of them would make a nice pet.  However, we do not recommend adopting any pet as a Christmas gift for someone else, as they generally end up back at the shelter.

And check out our Zazzle store if you haven't already. You can still order in time for Christmas. You can now order coasters or ornaments with your pet's photo or your child or grandchild's photo. Or even with your own photo to give as a gift.

Cotton, Kitty and Rocky

Hi, I'm Cotton, or rather I'm Cotton's paw, to introduce our post for today. I haven't finished my daily beauty routine (I'm 11 years old), so I would prefer just to show you one tortie paw at this time.

We'll start with a short but cute kitty video.

If the video doesn't play, click here.

We are posting this tonight to give Jan a smile after a long afternoon outside on her feet watching her car get taken apart and put back together.

As we mentioned yesterday, Jan's car broke down. The timing belt jumped time because it was shedding its teeth. They were just falling off. And humans get upset because we furries shed?

Doesn't look like a fun way to spend a day to us.  No toys or munchies in sight.

But she was fortunate to find someone to work in the Wal-mart parking lot so the car didn't have to be towed.  Now she needs a day or so to catch up a little on what she was going to do yesterday and today - clean the house and exciting stuff like that.  So we're going to catch up on exciting stuff too - napping.  She promised to wake us when it's time to post again.

Although we know many of you already know of Rocky the Gutter Cat's passing, we would still like to mention him.  He left a sad family behind.  You can visit his blog here to leave a comment.

And check out our Zazzle store if you haven't already. You can still order in time for Christmas. You can now order coasters or ornaments with your pet's photo or your child or grandchild's photo. Or even with your own photo to give as a gift.

Cotton, Dorcus and Oscar

Hi, this is Cotton as a mosaic cat and I'm here to do a quick post because we probably won't get to do one tomorrow.

We were as shocked as any earlier today to learn Dorcus of the Thuglets was seriously ill. But before we could post it ,we have learned Dorcas was so sick she had to be helped to the bridge.  We are so sad for her family.  We hope you will go by The Thuglets' blog and leave some purrs and tail wags for her.

Also, Oscar from Got Kibble blog had to be helped to the bridge. His dad could also use some kind thoughts.

We send purrs and tail wags to both families.

Jan's car broke down on her way back from taking shelter dog and Petsense cat photos today.  She had to get a ride home and will have to hike back tomorrow..  She's ordered a timing belt and has someone lined up to fix it.  Hopefully!  She said she hopes we can eat less for the next month.  Gulp.  Sigh.

This is so important we just have to mention it here.  We are delighted President Obama signed Senator Richard Burr's Crush Video bill into law yesterday.  We hope this time the law has enough teeth to actually bite the jerks who participate or watch such cruelty. The depravity of humans is so often beyond belief!  And that is all we have to say on the subject.

And check out our Zazzle store if you haven't already. You can still order in time for Christmas. You can now order coasters or ornaments with your pet's photo or your child or grandchild's photo. Or even with your own photo to give as a gift.

Cyndi and Meesha Kitty

Guess I don't need to introduce myself again since my name is on my pic today. But in case Jan gets in here and accidentally deletes any photos, I'm Cyndi and I'm your hostess for today.

We have one of those awwwww videos for you. It's a short one. Meesha kitty loves his teddy bear and Mr. Bear gets a gentle, loving hug.  We can hear the sqees already and we haven't even posted this yet. .

If the video doesn't play, click here.

Some of you might remember Gentle Annie's page. She  has done an occasional birthday card for one of us and we've posted it along with a link.  She doesn't blog but she does post mostly cat-related poems on beautifully decorated pages - with music. Here are a couple of short Christmas poems for your enjoyment.

From Mollie a Christmas Cat

Christmas from Annie

Since we haven't been given any mentions of blogging pet stores for today's shopping hints, we thought we'd tell you about a couple of Etsy stores run by non-bloggers where you can find some nice Christmas gifts.

Barkington Lane has lovely handmade items and ZeroSpace has chainmaille, fused glass and gemstone jewelry designs.

And check out our Zazzle store if you haven't already.  You can still order in time for Christmas. You can now order coasters or ornaments with your pet's photo or your child or grandchild's photo.  Or even with your own photo to give as a gift.

Rusty is not a Sloth

Hi, this is Rusty again.I hope you can recognize me by now.  I'm the huge furry kitty and I'm here to introduce today's post.

At the moment we're discussing luggage sets. We don't go anywhere we need luggage for but we could always store our toys and it would be prestigious to be able to say we furries have a luggage set of our own.We might even loan it to Jan if she goes anywhere, which she better NOT because who would scoop our poop?  We could even start a luggage rental company.  You travel with our luggage - for a fee, of course.  We haven't agreed on anything yet, but we'll get back to you when we decide.

We had a comment last night from Josh, manager of the local Petsense.  One of the dilute torties was adopted.  Don't know which one.  Jan is going to try to stop there this afternoon and find out.  They might even have a new cat or two available from the local shelter. We'll try to post them as we can.  Petsense is doing well on their own with the adoptions but we figure the more exposure the better since so many cats are killed in a shelter.

Update: This is the tortie that was adopted yesterday. The other is still available.

And a little fun -

Meet the Sloths.  No, seriously, meet the sloths.  This video was filmed at Aviaros del Caribe sloth sanctuary in Costa Rica, where orphaned baby sloths are taken when their mother is run over on the highway or killed by power lines. We didn't realize how cute a baby sloth can be until we saw them in Daily Squee.

If the video doesn't play, click here.

And we just have to add this one about potty training at the sloth orphanage. It's funny.

Merci Intros Kitties and Attacking Deer

Hi, this is Merci. I asked to introduce today's post since I was once a shelter dog.

Jan has gone to the new Petsense in Thomaston, GA since it opened last month. She has taken photos of the cats there but has been her usual forgetful self (she says she's "busy") and never posted them. But she has finally downloaded them from the camera and she only took them yesterday. She thinks she should get an award for being on the ball this time, but we think she deserves coal in her stocking for not posting the others.

The cats are being adopted, though, at a better rate than at the shelter. It's in the Wal-mart shopping center and there's more traffic than at the shelter. So here are the cats that Jan photographed at Petsense yesterday.

There are two handsome black cats.  (We'll just post one photo.)  One of the males is about 1 year old.

There are two dilute torties (tortoiseshells or calicos).  One was napping and didn't want to be disturbed.

And this cute little tuxedo is an absolute whirlwind. Jan had to ask the manager to hold him so she could catch a picture that wasn't a blur.  It's a male approximately 4 months of age and he can't stay still. Or quiet. He wants attention and he wants out of his cage.

These cats are available at the Thomaston Petsense store, but they would be adopted from the Upson County Animal Shelter. And they must be spayed/neutered!  It's a Georgia state law.

This poor dog slipped out the door and charged a buck and two doe.  The deer attacked and Daisy, a pit bull, has puncture wounds to her chest and injuries to her head, but will recover.  Those docile deer can attack your pet dog just as they would a coyote, if they perceive it as a threat.  Merci can remember a doe making threatening moves while they were standing still and just watching several deer in a clearing.  Jan was glad Merci kept quiet for once - she's a talker.  You can read the story here.

We only have one other pet blogger's store to tell you about today.  (Let us know if you have one or know of someone who has one so we can list it here.)  The other day we told you about the zazzle store for the Creek Cats.  Yesterday we learned their mom also has an Etsy store and she donates part of the proceeds to Beauford Community Cat Project and uses the rest to foster cats.

And of course, we hope you will visit jansfunnyfarm Zazzle store.  Ginger Jasper wanted a Santa hat like Buddy has, so we made a design for his mom last night - well, actually we made two so she could choose - and she very kindly said we can also sell them.  Most of you already know who Ginger Jasper is.  He's a very popular blogging kitty from the United Kingdom.   And he does make a cute Santa.

Santa Buddy and both of the Santa Ginger Jasper designs are available in coasters and ornaments for your Christmas decorating.

Jasper is having dental surgery tomorrow, so he could use some purrs and tail wags.

Sam, Calendar and Cats

Do you remember this nice graphic Zoolatry made of me a while back?  Cotton suggested I use it when I introduce today's post since we have a cat video for you.  And since Cameron hosted yesterday's amazing dog video, they picked me to host today.

But first, we want to be sure to let those of you who aren't yet aware know that the Cat Blogosphere 2011 calendar is now out. From what we can see, it looks like the Zoolatry Human has done a terrific job of putting it together. And as you are already know, "all proceeds will benefit our furriends in need, through the Cat Blogosphere."

We are excited about it, as this is the first year any of us have been in it.  Unfortunately, it's also the first year we have a Funny Farmer in the Bridge section - our handsome mancat Crystal.

We have been putting this post together for 2 days. The first thing in it was the video we're about to play for you. So, naturally, we started receiving emails with the link over and over yesterday. But we don't have time to pull this and find another, so we're going to play it anyway. Grab something to drink and watch the patty-cake cats have their say.

If the video doesn't play, click here.

Here are a few more pet blogger stores. And don't forget our Zazzle store.

Butchy & Snickers blog mom runs Teddy Bear Facelifts, a place where you can get your mohair stuffies cleaned, repaired and restored.

Many of you knew Jackson, the wire fox terrier that passed away a few months ago. His mom has a store called Forever Foxed

We can't forget Asta's mom. She's an artist and she has paintings for sale. She will even paint you a made to order pet portrait. Her site is Ami Kroon New York Painter.

And the popular Baby Patches has a store called NipandBones that sells a variety of cat and dog supplies.

We can't forget our jansfunnyfarm zazzle store. For those who are looking for something special for your pet for Christmas, check out our pet shirts.. Click on any design you like and if you don't see a pet shirt with that design, just ask and we'll fix one for you. We even have a TATA (Auntie Deb's Tough A** Tortie Association) pet shirt and matching t-shirt for your human. Only Jan forgot the ** when she were making the design.Oops.

If you have a store for your blog, let us know.  We'll be happy to add you to a post.  We're working on putting a special shopping page  together for our blog.  So feel free to wave a paw or two and remind us you're there.  Be sure to give us the url.  Either in a comment or email message.

Cameron and Awesome Dogs

Hi, This is Cameron again. I want a Santa hat like Buddy had yesterday. Guess I'll just have to introduce our post today without a prop.

We have a fun video for you today about awesome dogs.  We have some pretty awesome dogs around here too.  They sleep a lot.  And eat a lot.  And Buddy talks a lot.  Nope, guess they're not so awesome.  But we hope you enjoy watching these dogs.

If the video doesn't play, click here.

The past couple of days we mentioned a few shopping ideas and we have a few more for you today. We are posting a few here and there because we want to, not because we were asked to and certainly we are not being paid for it. Just lending some moral support to some talented bloggers.

Us 4 Cats is selling homemade tart candles. Or is that candletarts?  The candles have their own blog.

Attie Cattie opened Attie's Nom Shop to make treats for cats and also for humans.

Cats of Wilcat Woods has some nice vintage for sale here..

And, of course, we have our jansfunnyfarm zazzle store.

We'll have some woofie blogger stores for you tomorrow.

Rudy, Murphy, and Licorice

Hi, hope you recognize me in my Santa hat.I'm Buddy and I'm here to introduce our post today.

First on our list is Perfectly Parker's brother Rudy who is sick with Haemobartonellosis, which is a parasitic blood infection. We never heard of this before but it's not bad enough to be sick, he has to take nasty tasting medicine and his poor mom has a struggle to get it in him.Get well soon, Rudy.

Many of you will remember Murphy, an older cat whose owner was dying, and he needed a new home.  A nice family adopted him a few months ago so he could live the remainder of his life comfortably.  He has been helped to the bridge.  We wish all cats in such a position could have a new home and die with dignity at the end of their days instead of killed at a shelter.  Visit The Adventures of Space Paws.for more details, as they celebrate Murphy's life.

We didn't know Licorice but after reading about him we wish we had.  He sounds like he was quite a spitfire.  He left for the bridge on November 20, as told by his sister Penelope on the Cat From Hell blog..

Each kitty was surrounded by family as they passed away.  Purrs and tail wags for each.

Yesterday, we mentioned a few shopping ideas and we have a few more for you today. We are posting a few here and there because we want to, not because we were asked to and certainly we are not being paid for it.  Just sending some moral support to some talented bloggers.

For those who are looking for something special for your pet for Christmas, check out our pet shirts at our jansfunnyfarm store at Zazzle.  Click on any design you like and if you don't see a pet shirt with that design, just ask and we'll fix one for you.  The picture of Buddy at the top of this post is one of our Christmas card and t-shirt designs.

If you'd like a different present for your pet, we have a number of talented pet bloggers with their own stores.  Chey, The Creek Cats, Karl's maid, Daisy, the Daily Gs .... we can't begin to remember them all.  And the 2011 Cat Blogosphere “Offishul” Calendar will soon be on sale.

A Running Slide

We couldn't resist posting this video today.  Don't you just feel sorry for this poor guy (or gal)?  But he sure is determined.

If the video doesn't play, click here.

Au and Target's human has written a romance called Blackmail Bride which is out now and available in Kindle, B&N and Sony ebook format as well as PDF. You can read more about it at Katz and Other Tales. And if you click here, you can read the first chapter free. So if your human enjoys romance novels, check it out. 10% of the earnings will go to Furry Friends Farm, a no-kill animal sanctuary.  It would make a nice present for someone who likes to read romance books.

For those who are looking for something special for your pet for Christmas, check out our pet shirts at our jansfunnyfarm store at Zazzle. (We also have Christmas cards.) Click on any design you like and if you don't see a pet shirt with that design, just ask and we'll fix one for you.  We even have a TATA (Auntie Deb's Tough A** Tortie Association) pet shirt and matching t-shirt for your human.  Only Jan forgot the ** when she were making the design. Oops. That's what happens when you get old and forgetful.

The Zoolatry Human has done a beautiful job putting it together. In case you haven't seen the sneak preview yet, you can view it here.  Our Crystal is in the bridge section and a few of us are scattered throughout the months.

Click this link to subscribe to enter the Toy-A-Day-Giveaway and for the blogger sign-up.

Cherokee was helped to the bridge last Tuesday, Nov 23, and his family did a lovely memorial post this Monday.  We are so sorry for their loss.  You can visit Cherokee's family and leave a message at the Cat Street Boyz blog.

This Monday Au and Target lost their 18-year-old brother Qwill.  You can read Qwill's memorial post and leave a comment at Katz and Other Tales blog.

Both graphics are by KC of the Cat Blogosphere. She makes these graphics through her own tears to help comfort the families.

We prepared this post yesterday but would like to add one more item we just read.  Jan is always getting rid of mushrooms because they are a nuisance, produce spores and she's allergic.  She used to feel a bit strange, wondering what the neighbors thought, when she walked the yard looking for mushrooms. She had no idea how dangerous they could be to us, either in the yard or along the path of our walk.   But a puppy in New Jersey named Lucky was very unlucky when he ate just a small piece of a mushroom.  And if one just vet hospital sees.about 25 cases of mushroom poisoning a year and only one or two survive, how many thousands must die from this annually?  You can read the article with signs and symptoms here.
