Merry Christmas 2018

Merry Christmas to all our blogging and non-blogging friends.

Cyndi:  We should probably mention the big, brightly lighted and decorated house on the card is not our home.

Micah:  Why would you tell everyone that?  It was supposed to be our secret.

Marcus:  You know Cyndi.  She always tells the truth.

Percy:  Perhaps some of her honesty will rub off on you one of these days, Marcus.

Taylor:  Or perhaps some of the wonder of the Christmas story will transform him.

Marcus:  Do you think Jan would read it to us if we ask her nicely?

Cyndi:  I think she would be happy to do so.

Percy:  Especially if we fix her some hot tea.

Marcus:  With a few cookies on the side?

Micah:  How is Jan going to read to us with a mouthful of cookies?

Taylor:  I'm guessing Marcus isn't planning on Jan being the one to eat the cookies..

Jan:  We are grateful for all the lovely cards, both snail mail and email -  we have received.  I have been having a hard time sitting at the computer for long periods, but I've tried to help the Funny Farmers send out our card.  If yours didn't arrive, please grab it here with our love.  (Click on it to enlarge.)  We will be taking a break for a week or so.  See you in 2019.

Happy New Year!

Happy Thanksgiving 2018

Taylor:  I thought Thanksgiving was last month.  Why are we celebrating it again?

Micah:  It wasn't last month.  It was last year.

Cyndi:  It doesn't seem that long ago.  Where has the time gone?

Percy:  Marcus eats everything.  He probably ate it.

Marcus:  Is this all I'm getting to eat?  I thought we were supposed to get portions we're thankful for.

Cyndi:  Stop whining.  You pulled out an old canned food review photo so everyone will feel sorry for you.  You've never been starved in your life!  At least not since you came here.

Marcus:  What about the time Jan forgot to feed me until midnight?  Midnight!  I could have died of starvation before then.

Percy:  I don't think you'll ever have to worry about starving to death.  You're too full of baloney.

Marcus:  Hey, that sounds good.  I should check to see if we have any baloney in the fridge.  I could use a snack.

Taylor:  It means nonsense, Marcus, You're full of nonsense.

Micah:  We hope all of you in the United States (or wherever you might be then) have a wonderful Thanksgiving Thursday..  And don't give a thought to poor Marcus.  His definition of starving and your definition of starving are most likely not related.

Rusty, Dr. Seuss and March Lost

Have a blessed Easter Sunday.

Cyndi: Wow! We've been missing a whole month! We were working on posts for early March when Win 10 suddenly decided to change settings and put our computer into permanent hibernation, so we're just going to combine the posts here. We're not actually back yet but hope to be soon.

Micah:  March 1st was Rusty's 14th birthday.  He's still a handsome guy and we're sure happy he is still with us.

Cyndi:  Happy belated birthday wishes from all of us, Rusty.

Rusty:  Thank you.  But have you seen my cake?  I can't find it.

Micah:  I haven't seen your cake but Jan's in the kitchen.  You should ask her - .

Rusty:  Thanks.  I'll go check.

Micah:  - if she left you any.

Marcus:
I promised to fill Sam's hats,
But I don't have his whacky knack.
I miss all these guys,
so hats I will try,
But, Sam, I'm a quack in your hat.

March 2nd was the day we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss, the author of those zany books for children.  Sam always loved any day he could wear a hat and was well-known for wearing either the wrong hat for the occasion or the wrong size.  He is dearly missed, as are the other five Funny Farmers in the graphic that have passed away over our blogging years.  (Sam, Buddy, Jenny, Cotton, Crystal & Cameron.)  We remember them with a smile on this zany day.

Percy: Our Kitty Loaf interview was scheduled for Friday, March 2nd. That was all set to self-publish so it ended up as our only March post.  If you haven't read it yet, stop by Mousebreath to meet Kitty Loaf Cats Arya and Django.

Taylor:  A month is a long time, Percy.  Do you suppose anyone remembers us?

Percy:  Jan can't remember remember Diddly Squat any more but hopefully some of our readers have a better memory than she does..

We are joining the Pet Parade hosted by Rascal and Rocco and co-hosted by Bionic Basil and Barking from the Bayou.

Merry Christmas 2017

We hope all who celebrate have a fun family and friends Christmas, but please don't forget the reason for the season.

Cyndi turned 14 Thursday and Pipo, Angel Minko, Dalton and Mr. Jack Freckles sent Cyndi this lovely card.  Thank you, Mom Ingrid, for helping them.

Jan has been sick the past few days.  The good part of that is she can't yell at Marcus since she has laryngitis.  (You won't believe this, but Marcus is being good.)  The bad part is poor blind, almost deaf  Merci can't hear Jan calling her to meals.  It's been interesting around here.  And noisy.  If Jan isn't sneezing, she's coughing.  We hope you all stay healthy for your celebration.

Happy Thanksgiving 2017

For all our US friends who celebrate Thanksgiving today, we hope you will take time to count your blessings and thank God for them.

Jan loves a Thanksgiving turkey meal, but she won't be having any today, however, she said she has a special treat for all of us furries for breakfast.

This is Jeannie (not Jan).  Jeannie was headed to a nursing home Saturday dressed as a turkey.  She found a young volunteer to model her turkey hat,  We imagine there was a lot of laughter and fun at the nursing home while she was there.

Cyndi:  Hey, let's not forget to join other bloggers in saying what we like about Blogville.

Merci:  Oh, yes, we can't forget to do that.  We love the way Blogville gets together to wrap their paws around those pets who are ill .

Micah: And also around those families who have lost a beloved furry.  Oh, and we can't forget the furry with a sick human.

Taylor:  Thanks Blogville is having their 3rd annual blog hop and we want to thank everyone for the times they have encouraged us.

Percy:  Hey, Marcus, what are you doing here?  I thought Rusty ... I mean, I thought the White House invited you to Thanksgiving dinner.  (A Quiet Thanksgiving)

Marcus:  When I arrived, I was told I was not expected and the door was closed in my face.

Rusty:  But you only left the house three minutes ago.  You can't possibly have traveled to Washington, DC and back already.

Marcus:  Washington?  I thought I was invited to the big white house across the street.

Even though we won't get the quiet day we hoped to have with Marcus at the White House, we are joining the Thankful Thursday blog hop at Brian's Home.

And the Thanks Blogville blog hop can be found at Da DB Boyz blog.

*** We're going to go ahead and post this tonight (Wednesday) since we aren't planning to be online until sometime tomorrow afternoon.  Have a blessed Thanksgiving! ***

A Quiet Thanksgiving

Rusty:  Hey, turn off the light.  I'm trying to sleep.

Micah:  I can't turn it off.  That's sunlight. Besides, you don't want to sleep away the day.  We have things to do.

Rusty:  Such as?

Micah:  Well, eat, for one.

Rusty:  And then?

Micah:  We can think about that.  There's no rush.

Rusty:  I've been thinking a lot about Buddy lately.  Yesterday would have been his 13th birthday.  It still seems strange he's not with us.  Especially when the phone rings.

Micah: Yes, he did love to howl when the phone rang.  He taught the other dogs to do the same, but they stopped when he passed away.

Rusty: It's been pretty quiet around here since.  Or it would be if Marcus would lower his volume.

Micah:  I would have thought his voice would have dropped a few dozen octaves during his four years.  How much longer do you think we'll have to listen to his his hyper screeching?

Rusty:  I don't know.  I've heard a human boy's voice usually changes in his teen years. I fear we'll all go deaf before Marcus reaches thirteen.

Micah:  We should add that to our list of things to be thankful for - most of us still have our hearing.

Rusty: .Jan said we're having a quiet Thanksgiving.  And I happen to know Marcus won't be here.

Micah:  Why not?

Rusty:  I emailed him an invitation for Thanksgiving dinner at the White House.  He accepted.

Independence Day 2017

Percy:  If today is Independence Day, does that mean we'll all have to get jobs to support ourselves now?

Buddy:  No, it means the fireworks will stop tonight and Jan's feet will be 45 pounds lighter.

Percy:  Wow, they must really have been swollen!

Buddy:  No, not swollen.  But since Saturday Marcus has been spending his evenings parked on her feet.

Percy:  Oh, that's right.  He's been guarding Jan's feet so she can't panic and run away.  Or so he's claimed.

Buddy: I don't remember him being so frightened of fireworks before.

Percy:  At least the 4-day weekend celebration is almost over.  Then Marcus can take a long nap to recover.

Buddy:  We all love to watch the Clydesdales.  Perhaps this very short video of the Budweiser Clydesdales in a 4th of July parade will help him relax.

Memorial Day 2017

Today is Memorial Day in the U.S., a day when we remember and honor those who have died in service to our country.

Big & Rich's song "8th of November" always brings to mind, not only those who died, but those who survived and live with the memories of their fallen brothers.

Valentine's Day 2017

Cyndi:  Hey, how come Percy and Rusty are the only Funny Farmers on our Valentine card?

Merci:  They're both cats.  We dogs aren't even represented.

Taylor:  And they're both boys. We girls have been cheated.

Micah:  Calm down.  Jan didn't have time to make us a new graphic so she used an old one.

Buddy:  Yes, she just framed what she had available.

Marcus:  I don't see me.  Where am I?  Is Rusty blocking me with all that floof?

Percy:  Actually you didn't even exist when this was created. Neither did Taylor.

Rusty:  Can we stop bickering long enough to smile and wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day?

*big toothy grins*

Happy Valentine's Day from ALL of us at Jan's Funny Farm!

Farewell 2016, Welcome 2017

Merci:  New Year's Eve is tonight, so we're posting our old standby graphic to wish you all the start of a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2017.

Micah:  While we're posting, we thought we would join Athena's Caturday blog hop.  We added a drop shadow to the original.

Merci:  To that we added HDRish.

Percy:  What is an HDRish?

Merci:  I don't exactly know.  I think it might be High Definition Radiation.

Percy:  What does that even mean?

Merci:  I don't know that either, but you know how Jan is always telling us if we don't know something to use our imagination?

Percy:  So you just made that up?

Merci:  Well ... maybe.

Micah:  And to Merci's imagination, we added Sepia and then Warmify.

Percy:  Don't tell me.  There's a heating pad under the graphic to keep it warm.

Merci:  It would sure be a lot safer than lighting a candle under it.

Percy:  I think you two are pulling my tail.

Visit Athena's blog for more Caturday art.

Merry Christmas 2016

Rusty:  Merry Christmas from all of us to all of you.  We hope you have a wondrous and blessed celebration of the birth of Jesus.

Percy:  We've been working hard to email our card.  If you haven't received one, we might have fallen asleep at the keyboard and sent it to outer space.

Merci:  Pssst.  I think you mean we might have sent it to cyber space.

Percy: Seriously!  Our eyes might be permanently crossed from cross-checking lists and trying to read Jan's handwriting so we don't miss anybody.

Rusty:  Thank you for the lovely snail mail and ecards.  There is so much creative talent among the furry bloggers.

Micah:  This is Rudolph the Candy Cane.  We have been blessed with superb mail carriers since we moved here and Miss Vickie continues the tradition.  We know some people leave a card or a gift for their carrier but this is the first time we have received a card and a gift from a carrier.  Isn't Rudolph adorable?

Marcus:  This is embarrassing. Don't you dare take my picture wearing this thing!

Jan, please will you take off these silly antlers?  What will my fans think?

Help!  I'm being dressed by a crazy human with no sense of size. It's too big.

Yes, this is where they belong, on the floor being stomped.

Buddy:  You should have shredded them while you had the chance, Marcus.  Now Jan wants me to look "cute".  How does a guy look cute with a broken antler?

Marcus:  I'm going to report you to the Society for the Prevention of Canine Humiliation, Jan!

Buddy:  Oh, please tell me the S.P.C.H. won't make this public.

Marcus:  No, I will not sit up straight and pose.  I look ridiculous.

I don't care if it is Christmas, I will not wear your scarf, Jan.  Take it off me before I shred it.

Merci:  We don't usually post on Saturday any more but since we are today, we are joining Athena's Caturday Art blog hop.  We used a cross process on our Christmas card and added a frame.

Thanksgiving 2016

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us on Jan's Funny Farm. May your day be blessed and filled with gratitude.

We are thankful for every furry and human who visits.  We hope - at least most of the time - you leave with a smile when you do.

Are you doing anything special to celebrate?  We will be spending a quiet day at home watching Jan try to play catch-up.  Believe it or not, she's still trying to get this old house "winterized".

It is also Thanks Blogville Day over at Dory's Backyard.  We're supposed to tell why we are thankful for Blogville.  Why wouldn't we be?  It's a warm, happy, accepting community where we make friends and have fun.  Just as in the Cat Blogosphere, we laugh together, encourage one another, and share tears over losses.

And, as is our custom, we are joining the Thankful Thursday blog hop at Brian's Home. Any day is a day to be thankful, but today is a special celebration.

Not Me!

Percy:  Uh-oh, look at what I found in Jan's photo albums.  Which one of you guys did this?

Micah:  Not me!

Mercy:  Not me!

Marcus:  Whatever it is, definitely not me!

Percy:  But I haven't even shown you what happened yet.

Micah:  That's okay.  It wasn't me!

Percy:  Well, this is in with Jan's photos.  One of us did it and it most definitely was not me!

Merci:  It had to be one of you.  I'm in trouble for destuffing dog beds. (Miss Messy Destuffs)   Glasses are not my thing.  No stuffing!

Marcus:  Don't look at me.  I'm innocent.  The dust mites went on a rampage and destuffed the bed in my crate.  You and Micah knocked all those stuffed animals and VCR tapes to the floor, Percy.  One of you must have done it.

Percy:  Not me!

Micah:  Not me!  We'd better find out who broke Jan's reading glasses before we're all in trouble.

Merci:  How do we do that?

Micah:  Democratically.  We take a vote and the winner takes the blame.  I vote for Marcus.  He's usually the guilty party.  All in favor of Marcus, raise a paw.

Merci:  That's it.  Four votes for Marcus.

Marcus:  Wait!  I didn't do it. And how can there be four votes for me if there are only four of us voting and I didn't vote against myself?

Percy:  I'm sorry.  I got a bit carried away and raised two paws.  But you still won, Marcus.

Marcus:  But I don't want to win!  It isn't fair!

Cyndi:  You won something, Marcus, and you don't think it's fair?

Marcus:  We don't know who broke Jan's glasses, so they voted me guilty..

Cyndi:  Oh, is that what this little conference is about?  I know who broke them.

Merci:  Who?

Cyndi:  Jan did.  They were on a TV tray she knocked over and something heavy landed on them.  That was a couple of months ago.

Marcus:  I was tried and convicted without any proof.  Do any of you have anything to say to me?

Percy:  Yes.  We're sorry the dust mites went crazy and destroyed the bed in your crate.

Today is Veterans Day in the United States and Remembrance Day in Canada and other countries.  It is a day to honor and celebrate all our veterans.  Without their service and dedication, our lives would be very different.

Note:  Our power supply fan is on it's last "legs", so w probably won't be around much until after the power supply fan can be replaced.

Freedom Isn't Free

This is the flag that used to greet us each time we took a walk.  It became old and tattered and was removed, not to be replaced.  We miss seeing the symbol of American freedom flying proud in a breeze.

This Memorial Day we would like to share a video titled :Freedom Isn't Free.  It's in honor of all our vets who have sacrificed their lives to help keep us free.

An Alternative Plan

MERCI:  What are you doing?  I thought Jan took your ball away from you for a while because you were so obsessed with it.

MARCUS:  She did.  But I stole ... I mean, I borrowed it from where she hid it.  She'll never notice it's missing.

MERCI:  Wanna bet?  It will stick out like a sore paw in this small pen.  There's no place to hide it.

MARCUS:  Sure there is.  I'll just store it in the one place Jan won't think to look - Rusty's cathouse.

RUSTY:  I don't think so!  My cathouse is guarded by Marine Seals.  No dogs or dog toys allowed!

MERCI:  I hope you have an alternative plan, Marcus.

MARCUS:  I don't suppose you'd care to tell Jan you borrowed it?

TAYLOR:  Since we are not posting on weekends at this time, we are posting our Easter card a couple of days early.  May you have a meaningful and blessed Easter.

We are joining the Pet Parade blog hop with hosts Rascal and RoccoBionic Basil, Barking From the Bayou and Owned by a Husky.

Happy New Year

We weren't going to post but we do what to wish you a Happy New Year and a healthy, happy 2016.

Jan:  We said we would give you an update this week, but won't.  Suffice it to say things are not going well around here  Still, we have a lot to be thankful for.  Enjoy your New Year celebration.

Merry Christmas 2015

CYNDI:  We are going to take a few days off to lounge in the sun by the pool and gorge on tuna and chicken..

MARCUS:  We are?  I've never been on a trip before. Where are we going?  What should I pack?

PERCY:  For starters, you should pack your imagination.  It's the cheapest way to travel.

MARCUS:  Does that mean we aren't going anywhere?  I was looking forward to wearing my new shades and straw hat.

MICAH:  You know we don't have any travel funds and we all have to be here to help Jan take care of Sam.  He had a good day Tuesday and a bad day Wednesday.

RUSTY:  So we decided to do our Christmas post on Christmas Eve and hopefully take it easy for a couple of days.  Or a couple of years.  Whichever comes first.

MERCI:  We hope you have a Christmas filled with family, friends, good food, and fun.  But most of all, we hope you remember that Jesus is the reason for the celebration.

PERCY:   Taylor, don't be shy; tell everyone Merry Christmas.

TAYLOR: Uh ... *waves a paw* Merry Christmas, everyone!

BUDDY:  Pipo & Minko from WeBees Siameezers posted Belated Birthday Mews to Cyndi and sent her a card  They mentioned Sam.  Their woofie sibling Mr. Jack Freckles also included Sam in his Sunday post. How sweet, Pipo, Minko, Jack Freckles and Mom.

We originally planned to post the lovely Christmas cards we received but we aren't going to be able to do it this year.  Thank you, each of you. We have enjoyed each ecard and snail mail card received.  They have lifted our spirits during this time when Sam's health is our major concern. Have a blessed Christmas.

Today is Thankful Thursday.  Stop by PepiSmartDog to see what he is thankful for this week and to join the blog hop.

Veterans Day 2015

PERCY:  Today is Veterans Day, a day the U.S. honors the veterans of our Armed Forces.

BUDDY:  We want to share this video of the Homeless Veteran Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Song called I'm Not Home.

MERCI:  The reason we chose this song to represent our veterans today is because so many of them have returned home with PTSD.

CYNDI:  You might know someone who is struggling to cope with traumatic memories after military service.

MICAH:  Many of us will never know what these men and women have faced in order to protect us.

RUSTY:  Because they have served, we have freedom to go about our lives.

MARCUS:  But we should not undervalue those have returned with PTSD.

SAM:  These veterans are our relatives, our friends, our neighbors ... and some of them are among the homeless.

If the video doesn't play, click here.
