Ollie Goldendoodle and 'Tocks

MARCUS:  Jan and I passed a goldendoodle and his human last week on one of our evening walks. I wanted to go see him but Jan said I have to learn to behave first.  She's kidding, isn't she?  I always behave!

BUDDY:  In your dreams, Marcus. You came home, Jan grabbed her little walking camera and ran out the door without any of us dogs to protect her.

SAM:  Guess she didn't need any protection that time. As they walked by on the other side of the street, Jan asked if she could take a picture for us to post on our blog.  They both said yes.

MERCI:  Here are Ben the human and Ollie the Goldendoodle. Jan said Ollie is so handsome.  And friendly.  He wasn't pushy, wanting all the attention for himself, as one of us is wont to do.

CYNDI:  He is evidently trained and well-behaved.  Ben would like Ollie to be a therapy dog because he loves people and is so calm, even at eight months of age.

RUSTY:  Unlike a certain big-eared brown dog we know that is so hyper and constantly talking in a high-pitched screech.  Yes, I am talking about you, Marcus.

MICAH:  October will be ending in a couple of days and we have nearly missed Angel Derby's "Tocktober-fest".  His brother Ducky carries on the tradition in honor of Angel Derby's October birthday.

PERCY:  Here are our 'tocks.  Puppy Marcus and Sam represent the canines and I represent us felines.  Please take note of which one of us is exhibiting some modesty.

SAM:  We have a winner in our Petsafe Breakaway Collar Giveaway.  We numbered all the entries and used Random.org to pick a number.

BUDDY:  Our winner is Dennis the Vizsla and as soon as we receive his shipping information, we will start the ball rolling so that he - or one of his siblings - can travel to new adventures with a safety collar.  Click here for collar color choices and size chart.

Today is Thursday -

Bloopers, Winner and Cat Chats

MERCI: For those of you who marveled at how Jan could lose two of the three dogs she was walking the other day, (Packing Jan's Brain) without noticing any were missing, we just have to share this story.

BUDDY:  When Jan stood before the group to open the local Toastmasters meeting yesterday, she tapped the gavel on the podium and announced, "This meeting is adjourned."

SAM:  As soon as she said it, she realized she had just closed the meeting before it had even begun.  She saw shock, then laughter show on faces around the table. Yes, they were awake and caught the mistake.

MARCUS:  A momentary blip, a laugh, all is forgotten, right?  Wrong!  Her slip of the tongue is recorded for posterity, or at least for the Area Director to view. That meeting is on video.

BUDDY:  We have a winner for the Dogster's Ice Cream Style Treat coupons giveaway.  The winner is Jan - not our Jan - from the Poodle and Dog blog.  Congratulations.  We hope the dogs will enjoy the treats as much as we did.

MICAH:  As we have mentioned before, we are trying to streamline the Mousebreath interview process.

CYNDI:  So we have put out a call for new subjects to test the system.

RUSTY:  We were going to post the instructions but decided not to do so.

PERCY:  Check out today's Mousebreath post, Cats, Chats and More Cats. And if we haven't already interviewed you, send us an email or use the comment form in our left sidebar.

Join the Pet Parade blog hop hosted by Rascal and Roscoe.  It is co-hosted by Bionic Basil, Barking From the Bayou and Love is being owned by a husky.

B&W Selfie Smile Winners

Cyndi: Happy Sunday to all our six of our readers.

Rusty: Are you serious, we only have six readers?

Merci: No, Cyndi is exaggerating. We actually have seven.

Micah: I thought exaggerating meant inflating the numbers, not deflating them.

Camreon: I think you mean depreciating the numbers, not deflating them. Unless someone stuck a pin in the numbers.

Sam: That would likely be Jan. She's in such a crabby mood since she started deep cleaning the house and cut a chunk out of her hand. If there are any numbers floating around, she's more likely to stick a pin in them than to dust or vacuum them.

Buddy:  Well, I guess we better get right to our post before she sticks a pin in that too.  This is our black and white version of a photo we published yesterday.  To see it as our Saturday art in sepia, the original, and HDR-ish, visit Today We Are Ish.  Go ahead.  Click on the link.  We'll wait.

Marcus: We promised to announce the winners of our Howloween ... um, Halloween costume giveaway today.  We used Random.org to pick the winners.  Congratulations to -

Miley from Miley's Daily Scoop.

Dory from Dory's Backyard

Please send us your shipping address ASAP and Entirely Pets will send you both a costume.  Be sure to include the costume you would like from the Entirely Pets link and the size.

Winner and Halloween Safety

Sam:  Hey, Sam, Merci and Buddy here -

Merci: * taps Sam's leg*  Excuse me, Sam, but you forgot Rusty.

Sam"  But Rusty isn't a dog.  He just came along in case there were cat treats.

Merci: Nevertheless, he's here; he needs to be acknowledged.

Buddy:  What these two are taking the long way around to say is that today we announce the winner of the coupon for the free can of the new Iams Shakeables treats for dogs.

Rusty:  Yes, the woofies went to Random.org to choose a winner.  It picked #6, and that number was assigned to Ruckus the Eskie from the blog  of the same name.,  Hey, Ruckus, as soon as you send us your mailing address, we will get the coupon off to you.

Buddy:  Hey, Rusty, I was supposed to make the announcement.

Rusty:  I'm sorry. You were all busy trying to cajole Jan into some more treats.  I didn't think we should keep entrants waiting.  Especially since Cameron has been waiting patiently to give his news.

Cameron:  Hey, I have a PSA announcement for you today.  Halloween is fast approaching and we know a number of blogs are hosting a party for all their blogging furry friends, so we thought we would help you all get safely through Spook Day. Actually, this information might be more helpful to your humans but we think you should know what they are planning to do to keep you safe.

Don't be fooled by the title.  These tips are for dogs AND cats. We Feline Funny Farmers would take offense at being left out, but you must understand the infographic was made for a dog site but appropriated ... um, I mean appropriate for all furries.

This is as large as it gets on this blog, so if you would like to see it in print large enough to actually read, we will direct your little paws to 8 Tips to Keep Your Dog Safe and Stree-Free This Halloween.

This infographic was created by The Uncommon Dog.com and used with permission.

Now go party and have fun with all your friends and know your humans have your back.

Halloween Costume Winner

It's Monday.  Time to announce the winner of our Halloween costume giveaway.

Hey, Merci here, wearing my clown costume for the occasion.

First, all of us would like to thank those of you who took the time to check out the costumes at Entirely Pets and enter the giveaway.  We just know the winner will enjoy choosing a  prize.

We wrote down all of the names of those of you who said you would like to enter.  There were 21.  Then we let Random.org select the winning number. It selected #4.

And #4 is ------

Benny & Lily of Two French Bulldogs.  We'll give them a couple of days to decide whether Benny will be a panda or Lily will be a Monarch Butterfly.  We'll be looking forward to an email from them.

Congratulations, Benny and Lily!  We were rooting for all of the entrants to win (we can dream!), but now that the winner has been randomly selected, we'll mention that as many of you already know, Benny has been fighting the Big C.  He's been taking chemo and living by his motto:  Fight Like A Frenchie.  We're very proud of his grit and determination.

All the costume selections can be viewed here, along with directions on how to meansure for size.

We would like to thank Entirely Pets for sponsoring this giveaway. They provided each of us dogs with a costume to model but we were not paid or directed what to say.

This Furry Plays Golf

Hey, Buddy here.  I'm scoring a treat.  Be right with you.  *Crunch, crunch*

Okay, thanks for waiting.  I have a funny video for you today.  We love any video of a young animal having a good time..  Be it elephant or fox. (Hint, hint.)

Oh, you must be psychic.  Yes, this is a video about a fox.  Enjoy another Sunday Smile.

If the video doesn't play, click here.

Oh, and we keep forgetting to post this, but we won the I Could Chew on This and also I Could Pee on This books.  They were written by Francesco Marciulian.  The giveaway was held by Merlin, Gris Gris, Odin & Domino at Cat Wisdom 101.  Jan can't wait to read them.

Throw the Dinner Roll Winner

Today's the big day when we announce the winner of our giveaway.

Luke went home Friday, but since he's the reason Jan twisted our paws to give away Fizzion, we're posting the Pee Machine's photo here too.

We made a list of all those who wanted to enter the giveaway and let Random.org choose the winner.

And the winner is .... sorry, we don't have an audible drum roll, but we do have a leftover roll from Jan's dinner last night.  Perhaps we should throw that?

The winner is Stella Rose Long. from the Three Little Pugs.  Be on the lookout  for an email from us, Stella.

Thank you, Entirely Pets, for sponsoring this giveaway.  We do appreciate it.  And since the Pee Machine has left the premises, Jan will be giving Fizzion a workout on the stains he left behind and then writing a review.

Cameron is 9 and Friends Forever

And MICAH too!

Happy 9th Birthday to our handsome tuxie Cameron.  He's been such a delight to have with us.  We're so glad he wanted to be an indoor cat and chose his friend Merci's home.

Sorry, Jan didn't have time to make Cameron a new graphic.  This is from last year - before Micah's time.

Oh, and in case any of you missed it, Cubby and Clifford from Friends Forever (Florida Furkids) posted on the prize they won in our recent double giveaway.  They even did a YouTube video.

Those doggy liver treats sure look yummy.  You can read about Thankful Thursday with Cubby and Clifford and watch the video on their blog.  It was really nice of them to mention us in their post.

Island Cats Swag

Hey, it's me, Rusty, with some exciting news.

You might remember the Island Cats recently held a giveaway for some of the swag their mom brought home from BlogPaws.  We were very excited when we were notified we had won.

Friday the package arrived.  There were a couple of toys, some yummy kibble samples, some treats, a bottle of pet medication and something for Jan.  Yep, she gets the bottle of odor eliminator.  Not for her personally, for the house.  Don't know why the house would need it, unless it's because Jan's been sweating so heavily.  Our litterbox certainly doesn't have any odor!  Maybe it's the dogs' feet?

Jan opened the box on the washing machine in the kitchen.  Micah has been living on the dryer, so he was first on the scene.

And Cameron was second.  This is a first for both of them.  Usually Percy and / or I are first on the scene to investigate incoming packages. The contents smelled so appealing, Cameron rubbed his scent on the box to claim it.

The usually reticent Cameron tries hard to chew into a sample kibble pack.

Micah does a double take as Percy arrives on the scene. Although Percy seldom tries to bully him any more, Micah goes into high alert state. Cameron is too busy trying to grab some nibbles to notice.

Cyndi shows up and totally ignores the guys and the box of goodies.  Instead she poses for the camera and waits for Jan to open a package to share among us.

Where was I during this?  I was helping Jan take pictures so we could get a taste of the goodies sooner.

Thank you for sharing your swag with us, Wally, Ernie & Zoey.  And thanks to their lady with the yellow hair who mailed the package.

PS -  Quinn won our recent FURminator giveaway and she posted about it yesterday.  Her mom must be very happy she likes her new brush since Quinn is long-haired.  You can read her post here.

Merci's coat was so thick this year Jan couldn't even get a rake through it.  But Saturday she finally managed to "FURminate" Merci.  You should have seen the handfuls of hair blowing around the backyard pen.

Three Woofers Win News

Hey, the 3 Woofers here, Merci, Sam & Buddy.  The Funny Farmer Felines posted their weekly interview yesterday (click here if you missed Tommie, Gracie & Mickey Mouser of Shelter Cats.) so we figure it's our turn today.

Before we go any further, perhaps we should mention that the blog title doesn't mean we won any news.  We just prefer concise, to the point titles.  Three Woofers and their Siblings Win BlogPaws Swag and Talk About Their New News Column just doesn't have the same pizzazz, does it?

We are so excited.  We won some of the Island Cats' swag from BlogPaws. That's really nice of Wally, Ernie, Zoey and the lady with the yellow hair to share with us Funny Farmers. Um, do you think Jan will want some of ... we don't actually know what it will be yet, but if Ernie has been eating it, we figure it's edible.Well, hopefully, it won't be edibles Jan likes.

And for those of you who missed the announcement Sunday, the Blogville Chronicle is back and they are looking for columnists. Do you have furry blogging news or a hankering to write it?   K9Katastrophe posted Thursday so please go welcome Ruthie back.

We're going to be doing a column - we're thinking of calling it Meet & Greet - so we can use your help. Perhaps you have a better suggestion for a small weekly column?  Do you know of any furry - newbie bloggers you'd like us to introduce?  There are many we don't know - cat, dog, pet pig (Coccolino, for example) Are you a new furry blogger who would like to introduce yourself or, if your human has his / her own blog, perhaps he / she would like a mention.  Do you know a blogger - a furry or a rescue - you'd like to tell others about  Send us an email with a link and a little introductory information to jansfunnyfarm AT gmail DOT com.  We're happy to take suggestions since we're still trying to fashion the format.

You can get daily news events at the Blogville Community Calendar, so be sure to send your news there too.  Sarge the Cop works hard to keep you informed.

The Cat Blogosphere posts daily cat news and Mousebreath posts the cat news you won't find on the other news blogs.

Are there any furry news blogs you know of that we missed?

Support your furry blogging news sites by visiting and reporting news.  Blogville / blogosphere is a huge community..  Let's continue to meet new bloggers and get to know each other better.

And the Winner Is

Hey, it's me, Sam.  I drew the short bone so I get to make the announcement.

*Yes, Buddy, drawing the short bone does too make me the winner!  If you want to argue about it, I'm the biggest and heaviest, so I'll be happy to sit on you until I'm finished posting. You already had a recent turn anyway.*

As I was trying to say, last Monday we all posted on Seasonal Allergies and a Giveaway.  Readers had until midnight Friday to leave a comment to be eligible for a FURminator giveaway.

I  - well, we are pleased to announce we numbered all of the eligible (US & Canada) responses in the order in which they were posted and let Random.com choose the winning number.  Random.org picked #1.

Since our first eligible commenter was Quinn and Angel Brandi from Catitude, I hereby declare Quinn the official winner.

*Um, Percy  ... do I have to crown her or just make the announcement?  Okay, I got it covered then.  No crown.  Just a FURminator.*

Quinn, please ask your mom to send us your snail mail information so your FURminator can be shipped to you.

Many thanks to all of you who entered.  We wish you could all win.

And thanks to Novartis' Atopica for providing the winning FURminator.  We did receive a FURminator for helping to raise awareness about seasonal allergies among pet owners, which we were glad to do since Buddy claims to be allergic to Jan, but we were neither paid nor told what to say.

Buddy Hits Delete and Harry Wins

Shhhhhhh, Buddy here.  I don't want Jan to recognize me, but it's really me.  I came across this terrifying video of Jesse.  You remember Jesse, the dog that performs "useful" tricks and all the humans think he's wonderful.  Well, he isn't!  He's could end life as we dogs presently know it.  We could all end up having to ... shudder ... w-o-r-k for our kibble.

Yeah, Jesse is cute but he's been brainwashed into thinking he's having fun.  Whatever you do, do not .... not ...not let your human watch this video.  But you furries need to watch it so you'll know what you're up against.  When you're done, hit the delete button and don't let on you've ever even heard of this video.

Can you imagine Jan expecting Sam and I to ... do housework?  That's fine for Merci.  She's a girl.  But we're big manly woofies.  Well, neither Sam nor I would mind carrying Jan's breakfast to her plate since it would have an accident on the way.  And we wouldn't mind washing dishes the old fashioned way.  But real housework?  Naaaaah.

Is your human out of the room?  Okay, hit the play button.  .

If the video doesn't play, click here.

Now hit DELETE!  Quick, before your human arrives.

Congratulations to Harry Spotter for winning the Presidential Election by a landslide.  All 8 of us voted for him cause we think he had the best platform.

Micah Announces Book Winner

Hey, Micah here again. You won't believe what happened yesterday. Jan lost me. In the house, no less. She brought that big noisy machine into my bedroom again and I got so scared I forgot all about Percy and ran to hide. And then she couldn't find me. She moved furniture, crawled the floor, hollered for me. But I wasn't anywhere. She finally gave up and figured I'd turn up when I was hungry.

And I did turn up 2 1/2 hours later.  She went into the kitchen to feed her face ... um, to feed the dogs and then fix herself some dinner, and there I was.  Tucked in a corner with Rusty and Percy watching me. She picked me up and put me on a warm blankie on a tall table near the computer.  I was worn out and went to sleep with Rusty and Percy standing guard to make sure I didn't fall off the table.  (Ha! As if they cared!).

Yep, there I am in front of the bookcase in the living room and for once I am not getting beaten up by Percy.  Later, Jan carried me back to my bedroom and I spent Sunday recuperating from that big adventure underneath the short table I like to hide ... er, nap under.  This place is exhausting!  No peace, no privacy.  And Percy is everywhere.  Jan is calling him Houdini.

And now for our news.  We would like to thank all of you that entered our book giveaway. Yesterday we made a numbered list of all the entries and Random.org picked #2 as the winner.

We are pleased to announce that Brian was #2 on the list and he will receive a hardbound copy of Paws to Reflect by Devon O'Day. Congratulations, Brian!

We saw a lot of peace globes yesterday.  So much talent and so many innovative ideas among the pet bloggers.  We came across one last night we'd like to share with you.  It will only take a moment to pop over and see it at Ask Fisher

Rusty Snoopervises and 3 to the Bridge

Hey, Rusty here.  I'm investigating the contents of a box that arrived recently.  Percy and Sam are always first to volunteer for snoopervising duty on new packages, but this time I beat them to it.

We won a recent Guess the Cats and Win contest over at Skeezix's blog and the prize arrived recently - a neat bag of goodies.  Skeezix even threw in a little something for the woofies to chew, but we suspect his Food Lady may be responsible for that..

Yes, a very nice bag of goodies, Skeez.  Thanks.
Jan:  ** Yes, Rusty, I'm done with the photos.  You may have the toy now.**

Sadly, the blogosphere lost another 3 kitties recently - two yesterday.  We didn't know Hakuna, but we've known Brandi and Possum for a long while and they will be greatly missed.  Their moms are now without a furry companion and this is hard for both of them.  We send lots of purrs and pawhugs!

Possum of Purr-sonally Speaking went to join his sisfur Pixie.

Hakuna of Lost in the Cheese Aisle blog died October 14.

New Shoe for Jan

Hey, we got the strangest package recently.  This is what was in it.  No, not Percy, the strange white box he's standing in.

We tried some guesses ....

Rusty got bored and gave up.

But Percy persevered.

We're still not sure.

Finally, even Percy gives up.

Ah, a light dawns.

Percy suddenly remembers Jan recently did the weird winner dance because we won Brian's NVR Miss Litterbox Giveaway.  She was happy because some cat - and she dared to claim it was me! - kept peeing over one of the boxes we had (not pictured), even though we are using higher than normal boxes. But this box is supposed to be made so the cat has to turn sideways from the opening.

Shortly before Micah moved in a couple weeks ago Jan added the new box to the "keep the dogs out of the litterbox buffet" hideaway and waited to see what would happen.  And she's been pleased with the results.  So far, no over the top accidents.

I, however, am not a bit pleased with it.  I want my favorite one back.  You know, the lower one I could ...uh, perhaps I should stop talking now.

Thanks for spoiling my aim, Brian.  Um, I mean, thanks for having the giveaway so we could win this special new litter box that makes Jan happy..

Weird Winner Dance

Hey, Percy here.  I'd like to announce that Jan has officially lost her mind.  She is doing some weird happy dance. Why?  Because we are the winners of Brian's NVR Miss Litter Box Giveaway.  Yes, seriously, Jan is dancing around the room over a litterbox.  And last we knew, she doesn't even use one.

She claims I shoot over the top of the litterbox.  Actually, she claims I shoot through the SMALL HOLES in the sides. Can you imagine the nerve of her telling everyone I - Percy, the handsome and fastidious - shoot for the hoop (Is that a basketball term?  If not, it should be.) every time I climb in to pee?

I would never!

Well, I might on occasion.

Okay, I admit it's fun to annoy Jan.

Jan can't wait for the new litterbox to arrive.  Personally, I can't wait for it either, now that I've had time to consider it.  With that great big hole in the front, I won't even have to aim.

What's that, Jan?  Oh, no!  She says the beauty of this box is I will have to stand in it sideways.

But what if I want to stand up and put my feet on the back of the box instead of stand sideways?  Hmmm, this will be interesting.  Jan, you're on.  I can't wait to test our new litterbox.

And Squashie of TK & Squashie's blog is not feeling well and has her mom worried.

We continue to remember Ann and Vic in prayer.

Drowsy Duo on St Paddy Day

Yes, we are all celebrating St. Paddy Day here on the Funny Farm.  What?  Oh, glad you noticed two of our members are missing.  Well, not exactly missing.  They just aren't included in the photo.

Why?  Really nice of you to ask.  Because they have their own photo.  We entered them in the Doggy Division of Brian's 2012 Nimbus Memorial St. Patrick's Day Photo Contest.

And we just learned the drowsy duo won 2nd place. The complete list of winners is now posted on Brian's blog. Thanks, Brian, for hosting the contest.

View the Doggy Division entries.
View the  Kitty Category entries.

Happy St. Paddy's Day to ye all.  Now if you'll excuse us, we're going to see if there's anything green in the fridge.  Preferably something naturally green.

Oh, we almost forgot.  Rusty & Percy are members of The Tabby Cat Club  and the club is having a can you name these kitties guessing game.  We're pretty sure Percy's lovely - strike lovely - handsome eyes are included but we won't tell you which one he is.  (Hint, hint:  A, B, C, E, oops we missed a letter.)

PS - If anyone is having a problem leaving a comment since we changed our comment setting a couple of weeks or so ago to Registered Users (includes Open ID), please email to let us know.   jansfunnyfarm AT gmail DOT com
