Too Much Irony

Jan is still hogging the computer to load software and change settings. We thought of lighting a fire under her but Percy needs the chair to reach the keyboard.

We're glad a few of you missed us. We sure missed all of you! We spent an entire day a couple of months or so ago cleaning up our bookmarks -- adding, deleting, moving -- and wouldn't you know all of that was lost. Our bookmarks only go back to January now so we'll be FOREVER getting our bookmarks caught up and organized again. We lost 10 months of new bookmarks.

But that was all we lost. Our photos were on an external hard drive and Jan was able to retrieve all her recent documents and addresses from Windows XP when it had a heart attack, collapsed and wouldn't quite die, but couldn't recover either.

So, we're going to be here but not all here (no pun intended, so don't laugh) for a while. Still lots of work to be done to get back to where we were. We figure that should be around 2012 at the rate things are going.

Meanwhile, if you use Blogger and haven't read this today, it has some good advice for all bloggers. Keeping Your Blog Secure.

If you forgot what we look like, take a glance at the header. We're a good-looking group of furries.

We got a kick out of the comment Gandalf, Grayson & Whitey left after the demise of our operating system: "Ack! You just got a new computer table and now your computer is deaded! Jan must be taking too many vitamins because that's a lot of vitamin Iron-y."

Just in case, GG&W, we have restricted Jan's iron-y intake! (It really was ironic that she finally got a computer desk on the 24th and the OS keeled over on the 25th.)

Have a nice weekend, all. And if you would like, vote for Merci in the cutest dog contest.

  5. Hey Jan's Gang,
Count us amongst (Nice word, huh?) those that missed you and are glad you're back. Reloading software can be a pain and then you gotta check for updates, etc., etc. What a hassle.

  11. So glad all of you are back or at least mostly back.

We have our paws crossed that Daddy will fix Mommy's email tomorrow. He was suppose to do it today, but he forgot and played Halo instead. Mommy can not open her email (it crashes when she tries) so she doesn't have anyones email address. She is having to use web mail till Daddy fixes it. ~S,S,C & F

  12. Mom is jumping up and down, screaming "ON LINE BACKUPS!!!" She says for five bucks a month you can back up EVERYTHING. And it's a piece of cake to restore, even to a different computer. She uses Mozy.com.

  15. Hello to all of yous,
So glad that you are back up and running on your own computer again and that all was not lost.
Pellie says that "to error is human to real mess things up requires a computer" and she is always fearful that something will mess up her computer. I swear she is always scanning and cleaning things on the computer - It makes me dizzy.
Have a good weekend - hope Jan lets you at the computer more often soon.

  19. Sometimes we get a bit jealous of the computer. When is isn't working properly our photoguy hates it so much, that he must really really love it when it is working properly.

  20. Glad you are back. Sorry about the problems. Mom wouldn't know what to do if her computer broke.

  21. Luving this blog. Reminds me of my parent's house. 5 big parrots, 4 indoor cats, 12 outside cats, 8 koi in pond, dogs when younger, rabbits, iguana etc, etc, etc. Otherwise known as Aunt Elke's Zoo, to my cousins.

I think that it's time for Poofy the 3 legged cat, Wilma, and Munchie to enter the blogosphere.

    Great Stuff!

  22. We can relate. Dog Dad has been having various puter issues of late. He is starting to think it may be time to get a new one.

  23. Jan, I saw your comment on Jasmim's blog. Her Mom has been fighting a fierce depression. The translator really mangled the last sentence, but she just means that she will miss Jasmim something awful while she is visiting her cousin.
