Durango

Update: Durango died early this afternoon. He had a short life but he will be missed. You can read the details here.

Durango is a puppy that was recently adopted from a shelter by the Brat Pack over at Five Happy Hounds. He is sick and has been diagnosed with Parvo. His adopter has run up a large vet bill trying to save his life. But it isn't looking good at the moment. They are about to try a risky (and probably very expensive) procedure to give him every chance to pull through and have some happiness in his life.

We agree wholeheartedly that people who don't take care of their animals and act like they're disposable should have to watch them suffer and die, whether at the shelter or after adoption. Animals are not throwaways! We are flesh and blood.

Please keep Durango's family in your thoughts and prayers. They are going through an emotionally draining struggle. Why? Because they love the puppy. He is not "just a dog," as some will try to tell you.

We hope Durango makes it. And if he doesn't, it won't be because nobody cared or tried to save him.
