Cleaning the Attic

PERCY:  Excuse me while I have a snack.  We weren't supposed to go live for another five minutes.  Who pressed the publish button?

MICAH:  It wasn't me, but you said you wanted to tell a funny joke.  Perhaps you should stop eating and tell it now?

PERCY:  Okay.  While cleaning the attic, Joan and Harry found ...

MARCUS:  Who are Joan and Harry?  I don't remember hearing those names before.

RUSTY:  Who cares who Joan and Harry are?  We don't have to know them to listen to their story.

PERCY:  While cleaning the attic ...

CYNDI:  What's an attic?  Do we have one or would we have to build our own?

BUDDY:  An attic is where humans store all the junk they can't fit into their cellar.  And before you ask what a cellar is, the attic is over the house but under the roof and the cellar is under the house.

MARCUS:  It's a tight fit under our house.  I don't think Jan could store much under there.  I'm not even sure Jan could fit through the opening.

PERCY:  I repeat, while cleaning the attic, Joan ...

MERCI:  Do you think Joan would come help Jan clean our house?  Jan could use the help.

CAMERON:  I doubt it, Merci.  Joan would want to be paid and you know how tight our budget is.

SAM:  We have an extra bag of treats in the kitchen.  Do you think Joan would work for treats?

PERCY:  *clears throat*  Excuse me, guys, but I'm trying to tell a story here.  The next one who says a word will be banished to the cellar!

JAN:  *calls from the back door*  Hey, if any of you need to go outside, now would be a good time.

RUSTY:  *wicked smile*  You wouldn't dare!

PERCY: While cleaning the attic, Joan and Harry found an old stub for some shoes they left at the repair shop ten years ago.  They thought it would be funny to go to the shop and see if the shoes were still there.

CAMERON:  You mean one of them was walking around barefoot for ten years?

PERCY:  *grits teeth*  They handed the stub to the repair man who took it and looked in the back of the shop. He came out again and said, "They'll be ready on Wednesday."

MARCUS:  So when do we get to the funny part?

  12. Oh dears.... wonder how dusty the shoes were! Actually had a similar thing happen, but about a bible. My dad took a hardback bible to a book binder to get repaired, but forgot all about it... I went back about a year later, and the guy said something like the same thing... well I can have it ready in a few weeks. -Katie.
