Misplaced Jan and Memorial

Micah:  Cyndi, why are you wearing that old hat? I thought you had misplaced it.

Cyndi:  I found it and it's not old, at least not as old as Jan is.  She is the one who actually misplaced it behind some shelves in the bedroom.

Micah:  Are we going to have to misplace her soon and find a new human?

Cyndi:  I think so!  I can't believe what she did to us Sunday night.

Merci: It wasn't that bad.  We didn't catch her mistake either.

Micah:  But it's not the first time she's been on the wrong day, either forgetting or causing confusion.

Merci:  Calm down.  Take a deep breath and let's discuss this rationally.  It might help you feel better.

Cyndi:  Okay.  We felines have been working ahead on the mousebreath cat interviews.  Sunday night we finished another one and it's ready to auto publish in a couple of weeks.   By then it was very late and we were all tired.

Micah:  And suddenly Jan told us we didn't have a post for the next day and we'd better hurry up and post one before she turned off the computer.  We finished our yesterday's post after midnight, set it to auto publish, and gave a sigh of relief.  Then we went to bed.

Merci:  So what is the problem?   It all worked out well.

Cyndi:  The problem is that the next afternoon it occurred to us it was only Monday, not Tuesday.

Merci:  Yes, it was.

Micah:  But we have only been publishing on Tuesday and Friday now.

Merci:  Oh, I see.  Jan convinced you to write your Tuesday post Sunday night to publish on Monday.  Yes, that is a bit odd, even for her.

Cyndi:  We did publish on Tuesday - Jan's idea of Tuesday.  That's why we're publishing again today.

Merci:  Because it's Tuesday again?

Micah:  No, because it's Wednesday, the middle of the week.  Jan blew up our regular schedule and there's an extra day that needs attention.

Merci:  I'll take your word for it.  What an odd week.  Sunday became Monday.  Monday was Tuesday.  Tuesday was lost and Wednesday we are posting off schedule.

Cyndi:  Right.

Merci:  I hope readers aren't as confused as we are! They might not come back.

Micah:  Yes, it might be time to misplace Jan.



Jan:  On Facebook Monday (yes, it was actually Monday, not Sunday or Tuesday), I realized I hadn't seen a post from my old cat-loving friend KC.  She was not a blogger but we met through my blog and her cat story site.

I went to her page and read condolences.  I didn't know any of those people but  left a comment asking what happened.   KC had a heart attack Thanksgiving night.  It's hard to believe she is gone.

This is a picture of my ex-vehicle posted on JFF after a snowstorm in 2009. KC added her cats and some text to it and sent it back as a joke.  I loved it.  She was kind, funny, adored her cats and used to post to a site she called Gentle Annie2 named after her beloved cat Annie.

KC is now with her first husband and her son.  May her husband find strength and comfort in happy memories.  I am hopeful her cats are safe and comfortable.

KC sent this in 2008 and it seems appropriate to use it here.  We will remember you that have gone before, KC!  Rest in peace, dear friend.

Biscuit at the Bridge

Two Fridays ago, at the end of a post, we mentioned our new friend Biscuit (Safe At Last).  His Mousebreath interview posted the same day.  It was different than the others we have done. He didn't have a blog and wasn't on social media, so he wasn't promoting himself.  He was a senior cat with an interesting story.

Two weeks later, on Saturday, June 3, he left for the Bridge.

As all of us who have lost a furry can imagine, this is a painful time for his mom Leslie.  Whenever there is a loss in the community, pet bloggers support one another.   Since Leslie doesn't have a blog for Biscuit, we thought we would do this short memorial post. 

Biscuit, you may not have had a lot of years in your new life with Mom Leslie, but you left a big hole in her heart when your time came to leave.  You were loved - from the moment she met you.

Celebrate the Memory

Cyndi:  Marcus, settle down!  Stop running in circles and squeaking your toy.  Show some respect!

Marcus:  Why?  Did Jan lose more of her marbles?  Oh, *gasp* she's not sick, is she?  Who will feed us?

Micah:  No, Jan's not sick and some of her marbles are still missing, but we're attending a memorial service today in Sparkle's honor.

Rusty:  It was a shock to the blogosphere that she left us so unexpectedly.  She is greatly missed.

Sam:  Everyone knew Sparkle.  She was a writer, an advice columnist, a model ... She was a little of everything.

Cameron:  Whenever possible she helped to spread the word there was a cat in need of assistance.  She had a big fan base so she could reach a lot of people. 

Percy:  We kitties generally interview a cat blogger for Mousebreath on Friday, but we talked it over and decided we will skip this week so we can send our readers over to celebrate Sparkle's life at her blog.  Come back next Friday for a new interview.

Buddy:  Yes, Sparkle's human is holding a commentathon memorial for her.  A dollar will be donated to Tabby's Place in Sparkle's memory for every comment left on her blog today - up to $500.  So, if you haven't already, please go by and leave a comment.

Marcus:  *whispers*  Oh, no, I'm sorry.  I'll go by quietly and leave a dollar.  Does anyone have a dollar to loan me?

UPDATE:  We just dropped over to read Sparkle's memorial post about celebrating her life and how she made a difference.  There is a link to a post we were mentioned in but weren't aware she had written.  It brings back a flood of memories regarding a black cat Sparkle became determined to save.  We saw her plea and became determined too. 

It turned out the black cat was saved without our intervention.  But like ripples spreading in a lake after you toss in a stone, our puny efforts resulted in a white cat, her five kittens and an old Siamese rescued from the same shelter.  Our rescue contact, Carolyn, named the white cat Sparkles after Sparkle whose efforts for the black cat indirectly had a paw in saving her.  If you want, take a moment to read white Sparkles' story, White Rescue Update.  It's stories such as this that make the time and effort - and even tears - invested in helping even one cat or dog at a time worthwhile.

Skeezix Pink

Today is turn your blog pink Wednesday to honor Skeezix.  Our blog has been pink for a while, so we didn't need to change it.

On June 18 we wrote a Farewell Skeezix post and created an original graphic to go with it.

In Remembrance of Jan Struckhoff

Cat blogger Jan Struckhoff of Sabrina, Sam & Simon, a.k.a. known as the Rocky Mount Meezers left us suddenly in late November. Her family and friends are gathering today for a memorial service. We are sending prayers, purrs and pawtaps to comfort them.

Farewell, Jan.  A stranger could tell by all the Facebook comments and blog posts that you were loved by so many and you are greatly missed by all..


Kashim, Othello & Salome have written a lovely post.  They also set up a special memorial post on the Cat Blogosphere. Condolences to ML

Our heartfelt condolences to ML of the Cat Blogosphere and The Giggleman Gang's blog over the loss of her only living relative, Aunt Dorothy. 

ML was looking forward to living near her aunt and spending more time with her.  But when ML drove up to check on her last Tuesday, after a fall that left her aunt with fractures in her arms, her aunt had a stroke and no longer recognized her. 

ML, our hearts are breaking for the pain you are going through.  We know this is an especially hard time and we're glad your good friend Deb is able to be there with you. Take some time to heal and don't worry about returning to the CB and blogging until you're able.  Your friends will be here waiting for you.

Daddy Mark, Fred and Scooby

First thing Sunday morning we learned of two losses.

Kattonic Cats (Zippy, Sadie & Speedy) lost their human dad.

There is usually a graphic when a kitty passes, so we thought we would make one for Daddy Mark.  (You're welcome to use it if you'd like.) We send big {{{hugs}}} and supportive love to Mom Donna.  She's been posting some news on Facebook but supportive comments can be left on the Kattonic Cats blog.



The second thing we read Sunday morning was that Fred the bloodhound was put to sleep after having 17 seizures within 24 hours.  We knew he was having cluster seizures Friday but hoped they could be controlled.  We didn't make Fred a graphic, as photos on the blog are copyrighted. 


Fred visited our blog last year and we enjoyed visiting him.  We're sad he lost his health battle. Hugs to his human.  She has also been posting on Facebook but supportive comments can be left on the Hound Girl blog.

And then last night we saw more bad news in our Reader.  Scooby of Little Cat Feet died suddenly and unexpectedly yesterday afternoon.  You can read the details in his mom's post "Scooby Has Gone to Rainbow Bridge."  We have enjoyed Scooby, Shaggy & Scout's posts for several years now and we will miss Scooby.   Big {{{hugs}}} and supportive love for his human mom.


We know many of you are already aware of the three deaths, but some aren't and we wanted to do a memorial post anyway. Don't worry about leaving us a comment today.  We'd rather you visit the grieving.
