Just One Dog and 101 Cats

We rang 2009 out and 2010 in with a happy post. Today we' ll probably make you cry. Well, we don't really want to make you cry. We just figure you will since we cried as we watched this story. Meet Stanley, one dog who is on his way to a new life because one person did one little thing and a whole lot more folks joined in with one little thing to rescue one dog who didn't have a clue he was about to experience a Christmas miracle.

The next time you wonder how you can help because you're only one person and you can't do rescue, remember Stanley. He is just one dog. There are many more such rescues going on every day.

And speaking of rescues, we had another link from Eric, the one who rescued the 101 Lakemore Cats. This article is on Ohio.com -- Rescued cats get happy ending ...

  1. Sniff. I think the No Kill shelter idea is one that we will see gaining importance in the new decade as more pets find loving homes.

Hope the new year brings happiness to all of you guys.

  4. Thank you for the story of Stanley. Mama did cry. It made her think of all those on the Cat Blogosphere who did one thing--and rescued an animal (like me) or are able to help others rescue animals. That includes all the help for medical procedures.
Isn't it amazing that there are a lot of "one Person" beans? Here's hoping for more and more in the new year.

  5. What a touching story (the Woman cried). Thank you so much for sharing.

The story is close to our hearts, because we were rescued from a shelter when we were 1½ years and are so happy here with our humans. We wish many more pets who needs a home finds one in 2010.

  13. Dat made us cry wif happiness dat Stanley got rescued. Dis is why mom gets up effury morning and goes to da shelter and da kitty colonies and to answer other beans calls fur help...because she knows dat just one person can make a difference...even if it's just fur one animal.

  25. Yep mom is weeping. That was a most beautiful video and Stanley touched our hearts. he looked so defeated. Then that tiny tail wag ~ hope.

Let us all try to give hope to unwanted and neglected animals this year. Mom doesn't have money to spare at the moment (due to recovering from a bone graft and being unable to work at the moment) but she does have "things" she can donate to the rescue shop. So she will.

Thank you so much for sharing Stanley's story. If only ALL stories could have such a happy ending.

  26. That video is a thing of beauty. Great find!

  27. Yep, Mom cried. She also saw the cocker that reminded her of our Amber. She got her from an animal shelter. Mom didn't get any of us from the shelter, we just came along and she took us in. It's a great feeling knowing some kitties and dogs get forever homes. On the news tonight there was a lady that helped a family that had a Beagle kennel that was having a lot of trouble with finances. It also was a heartwarming story as some of the Beales found a forever home.
