2nd update: LacyLulu sent Rusty and Samaritan a lovely card.
Update: Hey, everyone, our old friend Gentle Annie has arrived. She said she just had to come help us celebrate today. She doesn't have a blog but she does have a website. We hope you will all introduce yourselves and get acquainted. She brought lots of food! So dig in and help yourselves.
We hope you've all tried Asta's "small hors duvries, especially the shwimp ones which awe especially good."
And we're hoping Sassy's new friend Punkin will come by. We've all invited him and hope he isn't too shy. We can be a bit intimidating en masse, you know.
Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! Sassy, Momo, Asta, Opus & Roscoe, and Momo & Pinot are throwing Samaritan and Rusty a surprise birthday party. It all started when Jan left a comment on Momo kitty's blog about having a quiet celebration today. Whoever heard of Sassy, her sissies & bros having a quiet day?
Sassy sent out party invitations.
A birthday poster.
But there was more.
And Asta had his mom snap a picture of the group - including our Percy. (Guess one of us can keep a secret.)
l-r, rear:Roscoe, Momo, Sassy, Percy, Opus, and Asta. Momo is at lower left and Pinot is eyeing the - hey, he's too young to be inhaling alcohol fumes!
Now up to this part, we can understand how Jan kept this a secret. The only large item was the group of balloons, which she hid under a blanket in her car. But how did she manage to hide the rest of this stuff? (Anyone hazard a guess?)
Momo sent the guys their own computers because, "Seeing that JFF has so many animals and there is never enough computer time for all, I have decided to send these presents to Rusty and Samaritan. Hope they will help to alleviate the problem."
Percy is drooling over this little beauty here since he does most of the typing for the JFF journal, but it's Rusty's present. Maybe Rusty will share?
Guess which birthday boy this is for? That's right. Big Feet himself, otherwise known as Samaritan. Maybe now he can practice typing so he can make more journal entries.
And now, we really want to know where Jan hid all of these goodies. Buddy is a hound. He can smell a crumb drop on the other side of the road, but he swears he hadn't a clue about this stash.
Asta sent over an entire table of food.
Sassy and Momo sent tons of food. We have several platters of meatballs. There's a cheese platter and a cold meat platter around here somewhere. Buddy probably hid them behind the fridge for an afternoon snack. But there are paw foods and a huge ham for the ham lovers. Not to mention, fish and seafood platters.
We have milk for the kitties and Pinot.
And several other types of drinks for the dogs and any cats allergic to dairy.
Both Sassy and Momo sent over table settings and lots of napkins and paper plates. We have a number of kitty beds and Jan borrowed some chairs so you can relax and be comfortable. Notice, you have your choice of dog or cat dishes and napkins.
And of course, Sassy sent over a special birthday cake for each birthday boy. This is Rusty's.
And this is Samaritan's.
And she also sent two kinds of cupcakes. Don't you just love the Rusty and Samaritan decorations on the one batch?
Merci has her eye on one with a bone.
None of us have had a birthday party before, so having two in one day is extra special. But the best thing about this is having friends who went to so much trouble to make this day exceptional. Thank you Momo, Sassy, Asta, Opus & Roscoe and Momo & Pinot - and all of you who are stopping by to share it with us - for making this possible.
So come on in, grab a plate and visit a while. If we zonk out from the excitement (and all the food), we'll be back after a short snooze.
PS - Can any of you carry a tune? We need a volunteer to lead the group in singing happy birthday to the guys. No, Buddy can't do it. Baying only counts as singing if you're a hound.
