Five Cats Views

Rusty:  Hey, guys, I was wondering.  Do you think we should rename our blog?

Percy:  Rename it?  Why

Rusty:  Oh, I don't know.  I kind of like the title of the one we're going to tell everyone about today.

Micah:  You mean Two Cats Views with Hemingway and Shakespeare?

Rusty:  Yes, but since we never quite see eye to eye, we could call ours Five Cats Views.

Cyndi:  But what about the dogs?  They would be really upset if we named the blog after ourselves.

Cameron:  You're right, Cyndi.  We'd have to call it Two Cats and Three and a Half Dogs Views.

Cyndi:  That sounds more like discombobulation than the name of a blog.

Cameron:  What is discombobulation?

Micah:  I think it's confusion.  Like when the cats disagree with the dogs. We all live on the Funny Farm, so the name should remain.

Rusty:  By the way, how did you come up with three and a half dogs, Cameron?

Cameron:  Marcus is only temporary, so he should only be allowed half a view.

Percy:  One day I will learn to just introduce the latest interview while the others are sleeping.  Stop by the cat ezine Mousebreath to read Writers Hemingway and Shakespeare Blog. They are a couple of fun mancats.

No Room at Funny Farm

Cyndi  We intended to tell you this story a few weeks ago but things have been hectic and we forgot.

Buddy:  We never forget.  Jan forgets.  We get left without a keyboard.  That's not forgetting.

Cyndi:  Okay, then we lost our keyboard and ...

Buddy:  I didn't say we LOST our keyboard.  I said we get left without one.

Cyndi:  So where did we not lose the keyboard we don't have?

Buddy:  Jan has it, of course!  She isn't big on sharing, if you remember.

Cyndi:  Oh, right.  I'm sorry I forgot we didn't forget the keyboard we didn't lose.

Rusty:  Moving on.  Thankful Thursday seems like a good time to share a sad story with a happy ending.

Sam:  When we were walking Jan one morning in early September, a woman we used to pass walking her old dog parked her car and crossed the street to talk to Jan.

Merci:  She said she had a dog at her home she couldn't keep and asked could Jan take it.

Micah:  Jan had to say no.  There is no way she could possibly take in another dog, not even temporarily. 

Cameron:  But Jan listened to her story and offered to post on Facebook that the dog needed a home.  She got the woman's phone number.

Percy:  So of course she was home before it occurred to her she needed a photo.  She called and the woman came right over with the dog.  A sweet dog., 2 - 3 years old.

Boy

Buddy:  Her 73-year-old neighbor, Boy's owner, would not be coming back home after having a heart attack, so he had given the dog to her.  She only accepted Boy so he wouldn't go to the shelter.

Marcus:  She had had to make the unwanted decision for her old dog and she did not want to get attached to this dog.  Plus, the dog was young, untrained, and too energetic for her young granddaughter. Jan says he must have been a hellion like me.  What's a hellion?

Cameron:  Sadly, although her Facebook post was shared, no one contacted her about Boy.

Merci:  A few days later, the lady called and said she was waiting to hear if she would have to go into the hospital for a health problem.  If there had been no response, she would reluctantly take Boy to the shelter.

Percy:  Jan asked if she could possibly hold off a few days and let Jan give it another try.

Micah:  For those few days, she prayed the lady might become attached to Boy and want to keep him.

Sam:  Jan felt sad when she left a voice message for the lady a few days later saying there had been no response.

Buddy:  But when she and the lady connected after playing phone tag, she learned the woman had decided to keep Boy.  She couldn't take him to the shelter.  The vet that does the euthanizing had told her Boy would die there. Black dogs and cats are too often overlooked for adoption.

Marcus:  I bet by now Boy has wormed his way into that lady's heart, just like I did into Jan's. How could anyone not love this face ... um, I mean, that face!

Sam: You're awfully quick to brag about being a worm, Marcus.  I wouldn't add that to my resume if I were you.

Mandatory Silence

Cameron:  After the excitement of the last few days, we have decided to take it easy today. 

Buddy:  Yes, the word food is not allowed to be mentioned.

Rusty:  "Review" is another off limits word until things calm down.

Micah:  We didn't intentionally eat the dogs' food.  It was an honest mistake.

Merci:  Actually, it was entirely Jan's fault. 

Cyndi:  We might forgive her.  Eventually.

Sam:  What do you cats have to forgive her for?  She fed you our dog food.

Percy:  And it sure was tasty.

Marcus:  And you wrote our review.

Percy:  Well, what were we to do?  A review has to be honest.  We ate the food so we wrote the review.  

Merci:  But WE were supposed to eat the food and write the review!

Buddy:  *covers ears with paws*  And we all are not supposed to argue about this any more.  What's on TV?

Cameron:  Nothing good.  Oh, here's a new show.  Dog food reviews by Ernest Lee Cat.

Sam:  How about we observe a day of mandatory silence instead!

Electrical Surgery

Sam:  Psst, Sam here.  I heard a nasty rumor that Jan ate the dog food for our review.  Do any of you know anything about that?

Marcus:  WHAT?  Jan wouldn't do that.  She doesn't like dog food.  Or does she?

Buddy:  Are you sure she ate it?  I heard a whisper that she fed our food to the cats. Why would she do that?  They have plenty of food.

Merci:  I heard it had something to do with crossed eyes.

Sam: I didn't know Jan has crossed eyes.  Did any of you notice that?

Merci:  No, Percy's eyes are slightly crossed but I don't think Jan's are.

Buddy:  No, I haven't noticed Jan having crossed eyes, but I have noticed she has been wandering around with crossed wires lately.   

Merci:  Wires, that's it. Crossed wires.

Marcus:  Should we call a doctor?  An ambulance?  Does she need electrical surgery?

Merci:  No, Marcus, crossed wires are in the brain.  I don't think she has an electrical circuit.  If she did, she's lost it.

Sam:  We don't need to call an ambulance.  If Jan needs a surgeon, Dr. Buddy is the best brain surgeon around.

Marcus: *wide-eyd*  Buddy is a brain surgeon? 

Buddy:  Of course.  A few years ago I operated on Billy Sweetfeets (Part 1 and Part 2 - uh, we advise you to visit the human litterbox before reading these posts) and he is doing well.

Marcus:  That's great.  But what about our food.  Did she feed it to the cats or not?

Merci:  Here it is.  The cats not only ate our food but they posted a review on it yesterday! 

Sam:  Isn't this against the Cat and Dog Treaty of 2008, subsection 124 of Section 29A?  There shall be no cross posting ... Oh, wait, it actually says, there shall be no cross-dressing between cats and dogs. 

Marcus:  Why would I want to dress as a cat?

Buddy:  I have no idea, but after this, I think I need a nap.
