Brain Surgery Versus Plumbing

Buddy:  I wish you guys would have let me know before Monday's post (Great Swampi Marcus 5) was published.

Marcus:  Why?  Was there something wrong with it?

Buddy:  Not exactly wrong, but I could have given you the perfect response to (Name Removed) who wanted to write a guest post on the subject of financial aid and education policy.

Percy:  I thought we did a good job of responding to his misstatement of his subjects fitting into our blog theme.

Buddy:  Marcus had not yet been born in 2009, but how quickly you forgot.

Percy:  2009?  Of course I've forgotten 2009.  That was like fifty or ninety years ago.

Marcus:  It was?

Percy:  Not quite, but a lot of posts have gone live since then.  What happened in 2009?

Buddy:  I got a higher education and I did it without any financial aid.  I graduated debt free.

Marcus:  So what response would you have recommended to Mr. Name Removed?

Buddy:  I would have sent a -

Percy:  Oh, wait, I do remember what happened in 2009 and I know how we should have responded.

Buddy:  I would have proposed -

Percy:  We should have sent Mr. Name Removed a picture of Dr. Buddy with the message that he managed to graduate from medical school without incurring any debt.  (Dr. Buddy on Call)

Marcus:  Why?  To make him laugh?

Buddy:  Will you guys let me finish a sentence!  I was going to suggest the same thing.  In my day, I was quite the example every mom used to encourage her son to set a goal and make something of himself!

Percy:  Every mom never heard of you and those that did moved to Wisconsin before her son could try to emulate you and flood the house or fall through the roof.

Buddy:  I never fell through the roof.  Okay, I did flood the house once, which is why I needed to change careers.  But I was a terrific brain surgeon!

Marcus:  Brain surgeon?  I think I'm thankful this was before my time.

Percy:  The rest of us are thankful Dr. Buddy is retired.

Buddy:  I might be old and arthritic but my brain still works and I can still wield a scalpel.  Perhaps not as accurately as I once did, so I would be careful if I were you.

Percy:  I think I'll be sleeping with one eye open for a while.

Marcus:  Staying awake sounds like a better idea.  I wonder if caffeine works for dogs.

We always have much to be thankful for, so we are joining the Thankful Thursday blog hop at Brian's Home.

Great Swampi Marcus 5

Marcus:  Hello, furry fans and humans.  I am the Great Swampi Marcus.

Percy:  You mean there are other Swampis out there somewhere?

Marcus:  Of course.  But I am the greatest.

Percy:  So what do you see this week?

Marcus:  First, I see the answer for 15 and Meowing.

     Can you predict lottery numbers?

     Yes.

Percy:   Go ahead. I'll just write down the winning numbers.

Marcus:  I was asked if I can predict lottery numbers.  I was not asked if I can predict winning lottery numbers.

Percy:  That's too bad.  Winning numbers could be worth a fortune.

Marcus:   Purrseidon the water cat wants to know, by any chance, did Stella sew catnip and/or dognip into it?

Percy:  It?

Marcus:  Yes, "it", my magic turban.  (Great Swampi Marcus 4)

The answer is no.  But there was a faint whiff of pug attached to it.

Percy:  Our next question is from Loulou.

Marcus:  Hey, does this nice Stella actually slip Jack Daniels into her knitting gifts?

No.  But don't tell Jan.  We dogs are crafty at hiding things, so she is still hopeful Stella Rose Long hid a bottle between the stitches of my magical turban.

Percy:  I thought Stella gave it to you as a blankie.

Marcus:  Blankie ... turban?  Either way it keeps my ears warm.

Percy:  Do you have anything to say about this strange email we received recently?

Hi There,

I'm a newish reader of your blog...but I just wanted to let you know that you are building something awesome. You are very good at using an individualized perspective as a way to break down complex themes/topics for your readers. I found your blog to be especially engaging because I can relate to a lot of your content.

Anyway, my name is (removed). Last year I started building up a blog/news site called (removed). We write about student debt, financial aid, and education policy.

I do much of the writing myself and I've actually convinced a few other bloggers to help me produce our content.

Would you be willing to let me contribute a post to your site? In 2017, I set a goal to 10x my readership. Specifically, I'd like to submit a post related to scholarships, student debt, and financial aid. I could even write about managing finances as a young adult.

Let me know what you think! And if you would ever like to chat about building a following, I'd love to pick your brain.

Marcus:  Yes, in a pig sty!

Percy:  Huh?  You mean when pigs fly?

Marcus:  No, I mean in a pig sty!  That's where that message belongs.

Percy:  Why?

Marcus:  It's wallowing in mud.  The writer has obviously never read our blog!

Percy:  What makes you say that?

Marcus:  Everyone knows we don't have any finances to manage.  We could use some financial aid, but we don't want any student debt, unless, of course, a student wants to be indebted to us.

Percy:  I think it would be fun to watch you respond to the challenge.

Marcus:   What challenge?

Percy:  He wants to pick your brain.

Marcus's Best Friend Returned

SAM:  Hey, Sam here.  I take a lot of teasing about my hats but if you remember, I have been known to sport a non-hat look.

MARCUS:  I'm not sure what kind of look he's aiming for, but I think he must have missed it by a mile.

CYNDI:  Aw, Marcus, that's not nice.  You tried on the sunglasses too. Remember?
MARCUS:  Oh, I forgot.  But I looked way cooler than Sam.  And certainly much handsomer than Buddy.  I mean, who has eyes on top of his head?

BUDDY:  Hey, that wasn't my idea.  My nose wouldn't hold up the glasses so Jan tried to be a bit inventive.  You might remember these photos from last year.  Or not.

PERCY:  We thought we would let you know we found a way out of email hell in July.  It was no fun having the computer freeze every time we tried to download email to Thunderbird v38.

RUSTY:  We were alone in our misery for over a month.  After Jan fixed ours, other reports started turning up of the same problem.  Jan would never have downloaded the new version if Google hadn't blocked us and forced her to.

MICAH:  We can't blame Jan.  She doesn't speak Google.  Someone at the Google forum and someone at the Thunderbird forum did respond to her question, but no one could help her and she had to figure out the solution by herself.

MERCI:  And in other good news, the vacuum that spilled dirt all over the place ( A Perfect Failure) was returned to Walmart for a refund the other day, despite Marcus' protests the dirty vacuum was his new best friend.

Cyndi and Merci Stunnyfarmer

Merci:  Wow, we are walking on air today.

Rusty:  Why?

Cyndi:  Because someone finally sees our true beauty.

Marcus:  How would one do that?

Merci:  We received an email addressed to Jan Stunnyfarm today.

Cyndi:  It had to be addressed to us girls.

Merci:  Imagine.  We're now the Stunnyfarmers.

Sam:  You're nuts, you know.

Cyndi:  Why?

Cameron:  Because the email was addressed to Jan.

Merci:  Yes, but it was sent to our email address.

Cyndi:  And everyone knows guys aren't stunning, girls are, so it was addressed to us.

Micah:  Did you happen to notice where the email was located?

Merci:  No, who cares where it came from?

Percy: You should.  It was in the spam file.

Cyndi:  I wonder what it was doing there?

Buddy:  It was in the spam file because it was selling Viagra.

Merci:  Oh, we must have overlooked that.

Cyndi:  Hey, guys, you won't tell anyone about this, will you?

Jenny and Squillion Day

I don't believe I know any of you.  I'm Jenny, one of the founding Funny Farmers. I passed away in 2007 at age 17.  I never got to meet Rusty or Sam, but I hear they fit right in and help keep Jan unsteady on her feet and searching for her reading glasses.  They even helped hide Jan's slippers for an entire month and had her convinced she was losing more than a pair of slippers, if you catch my drift.

Well, as you can see, I'm not really Jenny.  I'm a Missy You VSquillion Jan and my siblings adopted in my memory a couple of years ago.  It's nice to know I'm still remembered.

I'm here to celebrate Squillion Day with Derby and Ducky. and also the Cat Bllogosphere, which as far as we know is still in exile (on Blogger) since the CB Wordpress blog was hacked Saturday.  Now Derby & Ducky and KC have real squillions but we are virtual ones JFF adopted from the VSquillion Shelter.

Above is the banner displayed at the bottom of this blog.   (Left to right)  Angel Crystal and then Missy You Crystal. Many of you knew my handsome brother Crystal.  Next is our sister Grayce.  We were together for 13 years, even moved cross country together, but Cotton is the only surviving furry of JFF who was privileged to meet her.. There I am to the left of Viola.  Viola was the first virtual Funny Farmer.  They adopted her from the VShelter because even a virtual squillion needs a home.

It was nice to meet all of you.  Thank you for coming by and helping us celebrate today.  Perhaps the next time the VShelter holds an adoption, you'll consider giving a VSquillion a home.  A literal one is always nice to have but we don't know how to adopt one of them.

Here's the graphic for Jimmy's auction, if you'd like to use it for your blog.

Jan finished the graphics for Furriends of the CB auction for Jimmy of Criz Cats Sanctuary.  Marg expects to open the auction sometime today., Tuesday  Stop by and check it out.  New items will be added periodically.

Criz lost Jeremy and Jerry to the same thing Jimmy is being treated for.- FLUTD (feline lower urinary tract disease).    Mama Jessica survived it.  Jimmy has spent the last few days at the vet's and Criz hopes to have him home soon.

Criz lives in Malaysia and helps feral cats whenever he can, plus takes care of his own furry J Family..
