Boxing on Box Day

Percy: Hooray, it's Boxing Day! I get to box Micah's ears.

Buddy: No, it's not Boxing Day. It's International Box Day.

Percy:  I can still box Micah's ears, can't I?

Buddy:  No, but you can admire him as he sits in a box today.

Percy:  Booooring!  I want to box.

Buddy:  Why do you look sad, Micah?  Percy won't bother you today.

Micah:  Percy isn't bothering me.  It's that we were planning to do a big box post today but I guess now I'm the whole post.

Buddy:  It's Jan's fault.  She hogged the computer yesterday and we didn't get the computer until bedtime so we had to hurry, but it was more that stupid Winton (Windows 10) Creator update that trashed the post.

Percy:  Yes, Jan got quite the shock when she tried to print an Amazon order and discovered the printer had been deleted again.

Buddy:  Hours and hours of boredom as we waited our turn.

Micah:  Jan wasn't bored, though.  I'm sure I saw steam coming out of her ears.

Percy:  That must be why her glasses steamed up.  I thought it was just from the heat.

Micah:  Well, Winton did something more than uninstall the printer when it upgraded this time.  It's been reinstalled numerous times but it doesn't work.

Buddy:  Percy, if you really want to box someone's ears, forget about Micah.  Please, box the daylights out of Microsoft!

Percy:  Okay, has anyone seen my virtual boxing gloves?

Micah:  Where would you find virtual boxing gloves?

Percy:  Microsoft is trying to take over the world, so they have an app for just about everything.

Buddy:  You mean they have a virtual boxing app?

Percy:  Not yet, but they will after they read this post and realize they're going to have to protect themselves from Percy, the Funny Farmer with the mean right cross.

Micah:  I believe you, Percy, but you've lost a little weight, and it will be hard for anyone to take you seriously if your trunks fall off.

The Box Line

Micah:  Oh, look what I found.  A box of food just waiting by the window for someone to nap on it.

Buddy:  Jan is going to be very unhappy with you.  Mr. Bill sent her that box of food and she hasn't had a chance to empty it yet.

Micah:  That's okay.  I'm not as particular about my boxes being empty as some cats are.

Buddy:  Well, Jan might be particular about you sleeping there.  You're denting the food boxes.

Micah:  I think they're denting me too.  I'd really rather not have box corners poking me, but if I stay here and look uncomfortable, perhaps Jan will empty the big box faster.

Buddy:  You're a bit late.  April Fool's Day was Saturday.

Micah:  I'm not fooling.

Buddy:  If you really want to sleep in the box, I'd go borrow Marcus's Great Swampi plopped down turban (Great Swami Marcus 6)  and use it as a cushion on top of the food.

Micah:  That's a good suggestion.  I think Marcus left it on top of his crate.  Would you mind bringing it to me?

Buddy:  Why don't you go get it yourself?

Micah:  If I move, I'll lose my place in the box line.

Buddy:  *looks around*  What box line?

Micah:  The one the other cats will form as soon as I move.

Buddy:  The box has been sitting there for a week.  There hasn't been any box line.

Micah:  There will be now that I've broken it in.  Rusty will want to sleep with his head hanging off the top.  Cyndi and Taylor will want to nest between the tuna cans.  And Percy will want to spray it to cover my scent.

Buddy:  *sigh*  Okay, I'll go borrow Marcus's turban for you.

Micah:  Thanks.  And since you'll be passing the treat bag, could you bring that too?

On a serious note, we're thankful Monday wasn't as bad here as predicted. This is what we it looked like in the distance when the weather radio started squawking and the emergency sirens sounded around 12:30 pm.  We had a t-storm, hail and a downpour where we are.

And Wednesday's more severe weather mostly by-passed us, for which we are extremely grateful! A tornado watch most of the day and another round of storms due in about an hour (writing this Wed. evening), but we're doing fine - so far.

We know many of you were included in the severe weather warning area and hope all of you are okay!

Be Safe and Sleep Well

Micah:  Oh, hi, you caught me just as I was about to settle in for a nap.

As some of you are already aware, the Southeast has been having bad storms mixed with tornadoes this weekend.  We don't have time to say much on the subject as we need to get offline before the next storm arrives.

We are sad for all those who have storm damage and especially for the families of those who lost a family member.  There are at least two more storms headed our way as we write this early Sunday evening, so we hope there will be no damage and we will still able to access the internet.

If not, you can at least view my handsome face and meet my favorite box - before Jan throws it out.  Sometimes she has no sense!

If you'll excuse me, I think I need a nap.  It will help tomorrow ... er, today arrive faster so we'll know whether we will be writing a new blog post for Tuesday or searching the house for a deck of cards. to beat boredom.

Wherever you are, be safe and sleep well.

Taylor:  Shhhh, don't clap or yell or anything because you'll wake Micah, but we seem to have been given a reprieve from the storms.  It's too late to write a new post for today, though, so we'll see you tomorrow.  Unless something else happens.  You know how full of surprises life is.  That's one reason we furries take so many naps.  Speaking of which, it's past my pre-bedtime snooze.

Micah has a Brand New Box

Micah -

What a present.  A heavy duty cardboard box top.  Brand new.  Pristine.   And no one else knows it's here.  What shall I do with it?

I could sit it in and pretend it's a choo choo train.

I could nap in it in the sunshine.

I could chew on it.

I could pee in it.  No, that's not a good idea.  It's a box.  Boxes are valuable.  Of course, if Percy thinks it's my box, he'll pee in it.

I could push it off the cupboard to hide it behind the washing machine until Ifigure out what to do with it.

Wait!  I know what to do with this box.

Yes, I sharpened my claws in it to leave my scent so everyone knows it's mine.

Calamity Jan

Marcus: Why have you been sitting there so long staring so intently out the door?

Percy:  I'm looking for Jan's calamity.

Marcus:  When did she lose it?  Come to think of it, what is it?

Percy:  I'm not sure  and I'm quite confused as to whether she lost it or she's expecting it.

Marcus:  What brought it to your attention?

Percy:  I was just reading some old comments and I came across one from the last time Jan flew across the room and crashed.  It read, "Oh Jan, do we need to add an "e" to the end of your name and start calling you "Calamity Jane"? LOL! Furniture is evil. You can't fight furniture. Furniture always wins. Love & Biscuits, Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them"

Marcus:  Did you search the internet to see what a calamity is?

Percy:  Yes.  Evidently it can be anything from an inevitable accident to a hangnail.

Marcus:  You're waiting for a hangnail to walk through the door?

Percy:  Don't be silly!  I'm waiting for Jan to walk through the door so I can see if she is okay.

Marcus:  Well, I'd suggest we move the basket and box so she doesn't trip coming in the door.  I don't think we really need to worry about her.  She's already had her calamity quota for the rest of this week.

Percy:  She has?  How?

Marcus:  Remember when Jan was brushing Rusty Sunday morning and Rusty turned to give her a love nip like he always does and her forearm collided with his fangs?

Percy:  That was an accident, and fortunately, Rusty didn't lose his teeth in that accident.

Marcus:  Two holes in her arm count as a cat bite.  And the same day she sliced her finger open with the lid on a can of tomato sauce.

Percy:  Oh, that's right.  She's thankful both injuries are healing so quickly since she still hasn't been able to find the new box of bandages.

Marcus:  Now that you know Jan is okay, come with me.  I can use some help filching a dog biscuit from the open package.  That's it.  Just push the box off the cat tree and -

CRRRRAAAASH!

Percy:  Uh-oh, we forgot to move the basket and the box out of the doorway before Jan came in.

From all of us:  Don't worry, the story is true but the ending is sprinkled with fairy dust.
