Wide Awake and Confused
Taylor: Whatcha looking for, Marcus?
Marcus: Our blog posts. The ones that aren't getting written. I figure they must be buried under my ball since they aren't on our blog.
Taylor: Don't worry. They will be. It's just that things have been so hectic around here for so long and now every time Jan turns on the computer, we get a storm and have to shut down again.
Marcus: Today's storm was a doozy, but at least we were able to be back online. Almost took off our back screen door when Jan was carrying Rusty inside. And the lightning sure hit something close by.
Taylor: When are we going to finish posting the last of our Mousebreath interviews?
Marcus: As soon as we can get a block of time to post them. Those poor bloggers have been waiting since the end of February.
Taylor: Well, we'd better get to them soon or those bloggers are going to think we absconded with their money.
Marcus: We get money to do those interviews? Nobody ever told me that!
Taylor: I was kidding. We were doing it as a labor of love to showcase the diverse talents of our blogging friends.
Marcus: We did a fun interview with Spider and Gracie (Presenting Spider and Gracie) in February. They were planning to start a blog in May, but on May 6 Spider left for the bridge. She would have been 20 years old on Wednesday, June 27.
Taylor: Now we'll never get to read their blog. I always enjoyed reading their questions to Ask Max on Mousebreath and couldn't wait for the blog opening. I'll miss Spider.
Marcus: Gracie and her Food Lady miss her too. I wonder if I'll have as much vim and vinegar as she did when I'm 20 years old.
Taylor: I hope you mean vim and vigor, not vinegar.
Marcus: I guess I do. I got sidetracked. The police stopped a car across the street a bit ago. The car was just loaded on a tow truck. The guy was handcuffed and put in the back of one of the police cars.
Taylor: And you didn't tell me? I would have liked to see that too.
Marcus: I didn't want to interrupt your typing.
Taylor: Did we cover everything we wanted to today?
Marcus: Actually, I thought we should acknowledge how much better we furries are at counting than humans are.
Taylor: Of course. But why do you say that?
Marcus: When we posted Jan's age (Half of Ten Centuries), many assumed Jan to be 50, but half of ONE century is 50. Half of TEN centuries is 500.
Taylor: These humans need to be wide-awake when they read our posts, but it's such fun to confuse them.

Merci Was Sleeping
Marcus: HEY, GUYS, GUESS WHAT!
Percy: Shhhhh! Merci is sleeping. You'll wake her up.
Marcus: She should get up and come outside to play a rousing game of fetch with me.
Percy: She's old. She needs her rest, not a rousing game of fetch. One day you'll be old and want to sleep all the time too.
Marcus: No, I'm never going to get old and sleepy. If I do, who will keep Jan awake when she starts nodding off at 1 a.m.?
Percy: I think the question would be more like, when you are old, who will awaken you at 1 a.m. so you can annoy the daylights out of Jan?
Marcus: Don't worry. I'll read the directions to learn how to reset Jan's alarm clock.
Percy: And I suppose you'll borrow her glasses to read them?
Marcus: But I have perfect vision. Oh ... you mean when I supposedly get older.
Percy: Yes, when you grow old, you will have to borrow Jan's reading glasses to see the dial and wear a hearing aid to hear the alarm.
Marcus: Then I definitely don't want to grow old.
Percy: You don't have a choice. If you live long enough, you will grow old. By then you won't mind. You'll have accepted it. Merci did. Where are you going?
Marcus: To apologize to Merci for yelling when I entered the room.
Percy: But she's sleeping. You'll wake her up!
Cyndi: Spyder and Gracie are our interview subjects this week. They don't have a blog yet but plan to. You can read Presenting Spider and Gracie at Mousebreath.
We are joining the Pet Parade hosted by Rascal and Rocco and co-hosted by Bionic Basil and Barking from the Bayou.

The Chicken Bribe
Buddy: Seriously, Jan, you went out for Mexican and this is what we get to eat? No doggy bag?
Merci: Not even a shred of chicken from the chimichanga?
Jan: How do you know I had a chicken chimichanga at a Mexican restaurant?
Buddy: Oh, come on! You downloaded the evidence from your camera when you came home. You're wearing the restaurant's birthday sombrero in the photos with your friends. (Not sure they'd want their pictures posted.)
Merci: And a chimichanga is your favorite Mexican meal. I hope you had better manners than you had last time and didn't eat another meal by mistake. (Quite An Impression)
Jan: Okay, if you have to know, the meal was delicious, the company was superb and there wasn't a bite of chicken left to bring you.
Merci: There never is.
Buddy: I bet our friend Loulou's mama would share her chicken.
Jan: Speaking of Loulou, it was such fun yesterday to find Loulou wrote a post titled Happy Jan Day. And with a birthday cake!
Buddy: Did you notice there were no candles? She must have been afraid she'd burn down the blog if she added candles.
Merci: Yes, 314 candles on a cake would be a bit much. But Loulou is so level-headed, she would probably just use one candle for each century.
Jan: I'm standing right here. I can hear what you're saying. Do you have to keep telling everybody I'm 314 years old?
Merci: Are you going to bring us some chicken next time you eat Mexican?
Jan: How about if I cook you some chicken today?
Buddy: Then we'll tell everyone the truth. You're only .... mmmmff mmmmff.
Thank you, Loulou, for the surprise post yesterday. And thanks to all who left a FB or JFF birthday comment.

The Standoff
Micah: You're on my desk!
Percy: You mean you're on my desk!
Micah: You need to leave.
Percy: No, you need to leave.
Micah: But I was here first.
Percy: If you were here first, why am I lying down?
Micah: You're older and you collapse faster.
Percy: I'm not old!
Micah: You're going to be 13 in two weeks. That's old!
Percy: 13 is not old. Ask Jan. She's turning 314 today!
Micah: 314? Perhaps we both should move in case she collapses over the desk.
Percy: Okay. You move first.
Micah: No, you move first.
Percy: I'm not moving until you do.
Micah: I'm not moving until you do.
Percy: I guess we'd both better hope Jan doesn't collapse on the desk. There isn't enough room.
Micah: There will be when you move.

Time Flies As Merci Ages
Merci: It's hard to believe it's Friday again. I heard time passes more quickly when one gets older and I guess it's true.
Taylor: I don't think time passes quickly.
Merci: That's because you're still young. Time is flying by me so fast Marcus saw it yesterday and snapped at it. He thought it was a bug.
Taylor: What would Marcus have done if he had caught it?
Merci: Eaten it. He thinks bugs are tasty. It was before your time but he once put a young lady in shock when he leaped in the air, caught and swallowed a bug.
Taylor: I'd have liked to have seen that. Marcus is quite agile, especially when food is involved.
Merci: I'm glad he didn't catch my time. I'm hoping to have more left so I can grow older.
Taylor: You will.
Merci: It's strange, but as I slow down, time speeds up.
Taylor: Perhaps if you speed up, time will slow down?
Merci: At my age, my "speed up" dial is broken. All I have left are "slow down" and "Stuck in Reverse".
Buddy: We would like to thank Chewy for the lovely St. Patrick's Day present. Jan thinks those beer mugs are neat but they're too heavy for her to use as water glasses, so she offered them to Mr. Doug. She's keeping the candy, thought.
Cyndi: It's time for another Mousebreath cat interview.
Rusty: We enjoy meeting new furries and making new friends.
Micah: We would love to meet you and be able to tell your story. Interview slots are open for Cat Scouts, or kitties that blog or are on social media. There's a contact box in our left sidebar. Drop us a note.
Percy: This week we are featuring Hermes, Chip and Chessie Hauck. Please stop by Mousebreath to meet this Cat Scouts family.
We are joining the Pet Parade hosted by Rascal and Rocco, Basil the Bionic Cat, Barking from the Bayou and Owned by a husky.
