This has been a weekend of sadness. Saturday night Jan learned of the loss of an old friend (human) of 25 years. First thing Sunday morning, we read of several deaths and illnesses, and then our old friend Dr. Tweety's mom Madeline emailed that
Dr. T is headed for the bridge this week. He has rarely blogged in recent years, but his handsome face and humor have been missed. R.I.P., Dr. Tweety.

We stopped posting on sad news a while ago. We, like many of you, are having a problem handling the steady stream of illnesses and deaths. But after this weekend, we decided to do this one post in honor of all those we've lost over the years. This year alone we said good-bye to old timers China Cat and Willow, Eric, Charmee of DaisyMae Maus, Andy, Au, Skeezix, Thunder, Rose (human) and Marigold, Junior, Grrreta, Abby of Manx Mnews, Homer the Blind Cat, and

ReplyDeleteMom been reading a lot about grief and sadness and one thing she learned is that tears shed during grief are made up of a different composition. They cleanse differently which is why grief counselors want people to cry to purify their bodies. It is nature's way of handling grief in the body. Tears are a good thing, a healing thing, and no one should ever be afraid to cry, and cry often. Our beloved angels are so dear to us, and I know for myself, missing my Abby girl as much as I do, the tears can't help but come. Even now. We are holding all of those whose lives have been impacted from suffering in our hearts and hope for healing.

ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about your friend Jan, and also sorry about Dr Tweety. When Eric left us we very nearly gave up blogging altogether but we have made so many friends who offer so much support and that is the only reason we kept going, although it is not as often as before. We miss him now as much as the day he left us.

Because the pet blogosphere has got so huge with so many blogging now, we would be posting every day that someone has gone to the bridge! It is so sad when a beloved furry friend goes and all we can do is leave, hopefully, some comforting words on the blog or facebook or twitter page! Posting on one's own blog every time it happens is impossible really. It doesn't stop us being sympathetic, though!
ReplyDeleteI am very sorry at the loss of your friend, Jan. Your heart must be very sad x
