Sam Sends Purrs and Tail Wags

Hi, it's me again. Sam. We have a video of shame for you today. The kitties are laughing at it because it's about a trained woofie and as you all know, cats only do what they are in the mood to do.

But first, we would all like to send loving purrs and tail wags to some of our friends who had a very hard week.

Our friend Gracie was run over by a truck. Not actually, just figuratively. But she is a forgiving person and she won't only survive her wounds, she will heal. And she has retained her sense of humor. We all had a hearty laugh at her post on cooking advice. Gracie is the sweetheart who made our Valentine header and two or three others. She was also the auctioneer who ran an auction for us last year. That was when we got a small glimpse into how much time and effort goes into each auction, not to mention coordinating the payment and mailing of all the items.

KC runs the Cat Blogosphere and her mom ML does a wonderful job assisting her - juggling news, soothing occasional ruffled feathers and helping bloggers far more often than any of us know about. They picked a good time to close the CB for a few days of well-deserved rest because yesterday they had no phone or internet service. We hope it's back to stay but KC is sick again. We hope she will get well quickly.

Auntie Deb is dealing with severe back pain and numerous medical procedures for it. Jan had decades of back pain so she empathizes. Persistent pain can often make it hard to deal with even the simple stresses of life. Auntie Deb has been a help to many bloggers, including us. Her blog is on hiatus but we hope she will be able to return soon. She and Sammy & Andy's mom have started Furiends In Need to help kitties in need.

KC and Gracie have opened The Cat Blogosphere Auction Blog. It will only be temporary, until those auctions still on the current list are finished and then, as ML mentioned on her blog recently, auctions will be held on individual blogs. We all have the same aim, which is to help those in need.

We think Gracie started on the wine a bit early - we're kidding! - because she and ML asked Jan to do the template for the CB auction blog since she's had experience doing her own. Now, any of you regular readers are aware of how much "fun" Jan has had setting up a template on our blog. She is tech illiterate! Jan spent hours last Tuesday doing the template over from scratch again and again. None of the backgrounds were appropriate for a cat blog. She hated everything she put together.

But last night she got an idea. Group furry groan! We were sure we were going to be publicly humiliated since she didn't have a clue what she was doing. But if you clicked on the link above, you've already seen the new CB auction blog template, starring KC and Gracie.

Now that Jan has seen this video, she thinks we woofies should learn to fetch for her too. Yeah, that will be the day. First thing, she would get upset with whichever one of us forgot to close the refrigerator door. But she can dream if she wants to.

  3. Thanks for this post and the kind words about everyone. You have said what I have been thinking since this all started. Everyone involved with the auctions and those that have friends in need want to help in anyway that they can. I just hope with time things will get back to normal and settle down soon. Our gang has the motto and I think those who love their furries might agree with it, it goes like this: one for all and all for one!

KC and I have worked closely in the auctions over the last year and a half, KC having worked there many more years before that, and are looking forward to stepping down once all of our friends on our waiting list are hosted by an auction by us.

Loved the video but wondering if this mommie is breaking some job violation rules. That poor doggie was working, excuse the expression, his tail off.

Again, thank you for this post. I hope it is read by many and given a lot of thought.

This is indeed such a lovely post!
I myself worked doing eBay auctions for over a year, and I can tell you from experience how time consuming it was. There was good and bad, but ultimately I got burnt out on it. (I don't know how the Katnip Lounge Daddy does it!) That said I can understand the constraints a charity auction has. IT is for the betterment of a kitty so you know that it's all worth every ounce of work devoted to it, but there is a lot that goes into it.
We are so sorry to see anyone having hurt feelings, and we recognize that we do not know the details of what happened. But we do hold hope that it can all be worked out. ML & KC, Deb and Gracie have all worked behind the scenes to do a lot of good and we hope that will continue in one form or another in the future.

  11. Good post. We appreciate all the work everyone has put into the auctions and also the CB in general. We hope these differences can be overcome and harmony returns again. It is very sad when our friends fall out.

  12. Sam, we are purring for them too. I don't know what happened and I'm glad. We are some of ML and the Sherwood Gang's biggest fans! We hope they get back to blogging and being happy soon. ((hugs))

    Great job on the template!

Um, as for fetching, that is why we have beans. Not the other way around...I actually felt bad for that woofie. I mean, they totally should wait on us kitties, but to work so hard serving a bean is just wrong.

  14. We are sending lots of healing purrs to Gracie and her Mom. Words can hurt far more then Mack Trucks and we are sorry they got hit with hurtful words. They have been very good friends to us.

Purrs that KC gets well soon and they gets their internets back. KC & ML are the greatest. We hopes they are enjoying their vacation.

Healing purrs for Auntie Deb, severe back pain is no fun and sometimes the medication isn't any fun either.

Loving purrs for everyone and Happy Valentines Day!!!!

Sam what a wonderful post. You expressed yourself very eloquently.

  19. You're all doing a great job helping furries in need. KC is in our purrs and prayers. She and mom ML have been working tirelessly for the CB.

We sincerely hope that the misunderstanding will work itself through and the CB will once again be the harmonious community it has always been, and hopefully will always be.

  26. That's a well trained pooch all right, but they do need to teach it to close the fridge door, LOL. Plus, I'm not sure how useful a tissue would be with dog slobber all over it.

    Happy Valentine's Day!

  29. Gosh - that video is almost scary! Partly because that human used such a scary voice - I would have thought she should have had a happier voice, considering all the things that doggie is doing for her!

I had to laugh at some of the stuff - see, if that lady had me as a doggie, she wouldn't be so keen to teach some of those tricks - after all, who wants a tissue covered in SLOBBERS or drink fro a bottle covered with DROOL??!! :-)

    Slobbers,
