Hodgepodge, March 16

On our behalf, Jan wrote this in an email to the Public Affairs Office of Marine Corps Base Hawaii (email address in the post URMC Responds to Video) regarding the puppy throwing video:

This incident concerns me greatly, as does any act of violence against a human or an animal. It is a well-documented fact that animal abuse and human abuse are closely entwined. What I believe is that anyone who would commit such a horrible act as was demonstrated in the video and to laugh at it is not a newcomer to violence. And I'm not referring to what he learned while at war.

We were pleasantly surprised to find Crystal's photo on Chey's blog this morning. As you know, we wholeheartedly support her for President and although she had several favorite comments of the week, she chose ours to feature today. We almost made it once before but that time intrigue won out over humor.

You might already know this site, but we just came across it. The March 12 post is sad. The blog is SaveAShelterPet and the sad story is about 3 rescued puppies with parvo. Two died and they need help to try to save the 3rd. They have some good information on parvo.

************************
We always enjoy Wildcats 3 stories, but yesterday they lost their young Fritz to a blood clot that broke loose and paralyzed him. If you haven't stopped by there, please do. It was a huge shock to lose a healthy cat so suddenly.

************************

Over on Moki's blog you can watch a video of Charley, a cat with Cerebellar Hypoplasia, which is what the vet first thought Moki has. There is some good information there on cats with special needs.

************************

Most of you know about Percy (The Cats Stephens' Percy, not our Percy). Skeezix the cat made him this get well graphic.

We're keeping our paws crossed for Smudge and Lilly Lu. We cried when we read Lilly Lu's Thursday post, but we're encouraged by today's.

**************************

We've been enjoying the adventures of Sassy, Momo, Opus & Roscoe, Karl, Emil, & Mrs. Oz, Ruis, Asta, Stanley, Momo & Pinot, Charlie, Socks, Scylla & Charybdis. Tomorrow, St. Patty's Day, is their last day in Ireland. Since they played Thundering Herd of Elephants up and down the Leaning Tower of Pisa's steps on their first day of the tour and collapsed the tower, we can't wait to see what other mischief they get into before they return home.

*********************
We almost forgot this. Haggis was last sighted at Fannon Dr & Old Chapel Rd, Bowie, Maryland at 5:10 PM on March 16th. That's just a few hours ago. We've got all our paws crossed.

If you all have time we have Irish glasses at our place for you to bring home with you, Sassy gave them to me. We are trying to make sure everyone of our friends has a pair for today's celebration.

  21. hiya Jan - hope you had a good Paddy's Day :)

on a serious note, that Puppy Throwing thing is horrendous - they are thugs and they should not be trusted with a toy gun let alone drafted into the army. is it any wonder stories keep coming out of iraq of atrocities happening to women and children?... ooooo, it makes me want to swear in a thousand languages! x

  22. Hi Jan - Yes, we had a lot of fun during our St. Patrick's adventure, but we also followed the CB noos, and together we purred and crossed paws every evening for our sick furry friends...

    Headbutts from us,
    ~Karl & Ruis
