Thanks From Angel Rusty

Cyndi:  We want to thank all of you who have left a message regarding Rusty - on our blog, on Facebook or in an email.  We appreciate each one.  We want to respond but haven't accomplished much this last week.

Percy:  Last week we posted that Rusty left us on Wednesday.  (Farewell Rusty)  Two days short of a year since Buddy passed and three days short of three months since we lost Merci, and later we realized it was almost to the day when Rusty came to live with us twelve years ago.

Cyndi:  His death has sobered things up around here.  The other day devoted enemies Percy and Micah met at the kibble bowl and touched noses instead of trying to kill each other.

Percy:  It has sent Marcus deeper into separation anxiety.  We're not sure if he's afraid he is going to disappear next or if Jan will, but he is not just "under her feet" and tripping her any more, he is actually under her feet and walking under her feet.  When she sits down, he crawls between the chair and her feet and when she walks she can't always avoid stepping on his paws..  He will not go outside by himself and Jan has to go with him.

Cyndi:  I can't blame him.  He will turn 5 years old in November.  In the past 3 1/2 years of his life, five of our crew have left - Cameron, Sam, Buddy, Merci and Rusty.  He wasn't around for the other past members.

Percy:  That's what happens when nearly all the crew grows old at the same time.  It means extra  work for Jan.  You and I are the last of the old timers and we've slowed down.  Oh, and Jan.  She's an old timer too.

Cyndi:  I hope if something happens to Jan, we won't be expected to bury her.  She couldn't even make a dent in the dry ground and she has opposing thumbs to handle the tools.  Mr. Doug offered to take care of the burial (THANK YOU, Mr. Doug!) and Rusty now rests near Merci.

Percy:  This card is from Mom Ingrid, Pipo & Dalton.

Cyndi:  And this graphic was made by Ann of Zoolatry

Percy:  The Eastside Cats honored him with a post.   (https://eastsidecats.blogspot.com/2018/09/farewell-angel-rusty.html)

Cyndi:  As did Loulou.   (https://www.livingwithloulou.com/adieu-rusty/)

Percy:  Thank you, dear friends.  We'll return soon.

Cyndi:  I hear Jan trying to coax Marcus outside again.  Let's go watch the show.

Percy:  No, I'll pass.  I hate re-runs.

  1. Awww, sorry that Marcus is feeling all that anxiety. I, Pipo can send Dalton there and they can be mutually anxious...just kidding.

Its nice that Percy and Micah maybe have decided to put up the white flag for peace? Maybe one of you kitties need to cuddle with Marcus to help him feel a bit better.

You are in our thoughts and pawyers.

dynamics do change as the pawticipants 'retire'. Marcus, kutta-prem, do not be fearful. Your food will still be there each day and the yard is fenced to keep baddies away... and detente between the kittehs has to be good, right?! hugs whiskeries wags YAM-aunty xxx

  3. It is hard for everyone when a loved family member leaves for the Bridge. I hope you all are able to get back to some sort of normal even though it is obvious you miss your brother. Hugs to Jan.

  6. We have the sads for you all too. And, this time of year tends to make us all introspective. While it's nice that Percy and Micah may be friendlier, the fact that Marcus is so worried, is worrisome! Hoping there are more sunny days ahead for Jan's clan. Hugs

  7. Oh, Jan, Marcus is only thinking of you and feeling your sadness, I think. And keep living, all of you, with love for one another and knowledge that there is lots of time left for all right now. We send you hugs and good thoughts. Loulou

  10. Oh Jan we know exactly how dynamics change once someone we have loved, walks out that door, we are so sorry again about Rusty and all the others you have lost so recently. Poor Marcus may need more attention and love from you then you would even think, my mom found that out once Stella Rose left for the bridge, that I Maggie Mae the tough thug of the bunch actually was very sweet, and very anxious and shy. Sometimes personalities in a household are so strong that others fall by the wayside, until one day, it is their turn to shine. So Marcus turn your loving light on for Jan, you both need it. Mags

  12. Hugs for you during this sad time. Do animals mourn? I think they do, in their way. It's never easy to lose one of our fur friends, and I don't know how you can handle so many losses in a short time. I have just two kitty boys, brothers, and I dread the day I know will come and it tars at my heart.

  15. We hare sending healing purrs for all of you...especially for Marcus (and Mom Jan)!
Poor Poor Marcus. When Bob went OTB poor Cinnamon was devastated. I was in Calgary with Nellie and she was beside herself. Dave got her a special stuffie that he kept giving to her especially when he had to go out and reassured her that the stuffie was her best friend and would be with her always. After a while she carried it around with her. She still goes and gets it out when there are storms!
Sending you all our love and hugs and Purrayers!
