Melting Pot and Paws
Hey, Cameron here. Yep, we're still here, despite Jan trying to kill us all. Yes, we know it wasn't really all her fault, but we are fortunate we're still alive. Here, this is what happened.
We were all lying around snoozing prior to bedtime Thursday night while Jan used the computer, when eyes began to open and heads began to pop up as we furries started to panic. Sniff, sniff, what's burning? Are we all going to die? We can't see through the smoke.
**Note from Cotton - There was no smoke! Cameron got a bit disoriented since he had tucked himself into a white sheet to take a nap. He's just being dramatic.**
Jan jumped to her feet, not knowing where to check first, then headed for the most logical source - the kitchen. Did she leave something on the stove?
Oh, you bet she did! She worked on the computer while waiting for water to boil for a cup of hot chocolate. We think she waited a bit long to check on it cause this is what she found.
Yep, that used to be a tea kettle. A brand new tea kettle.
Actually, this is what is left of Jan's Christmas gift tea kettle. Jan's new stainless steel whistling tea kettle.
Does this look like it whistled? Nope, not a screech or a peep. This whistling tea kettle croaked without so much as a whimper. And because Jan had only used it a couple of times while she was standing by the stove, she didn't realize the whistle didn't work.
The non-whistling whistling tea kettle had no offspring so it leaves nothing of value behind, just an empty mug and an unused hot chocolate packet on the kitchen table. Sadly, it died far too young. There will be no funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, you can send cards and donations to the Melted Tea Kettle Revival Fund we've set up in its memory.
** Note from Cotton - I think Cameron means the Melted Tea Kettle Replacement Fund. He's still a bit rattled from the other night.**
We were very happy we stopped by Rumpydog's blog last night. He had posted an interview with our PAWS cat shelter volunteer friend, Kevin, aka Meowmeowmans. Stop by Rumpy's to read A Visit with a Shelter Volunteer Pt 1
Part 2 will be posted today and it will be an interview with a PAWS volunteer who works with shelter dogs.. Meowmeowmans' blog is Animal Shelter Volunteer Life.
Well, this was supposed to auto post at 12:30 AM. Guess Blogger is related to Jan and doesn't remember to read the calendar either. Aha! We found the problem. They have a DIFFERENT calendar! Their week ends on Sunday instead of Saturday. This might be why some others have been complaining Blogger doesn't auto post under the new dashboard.

RIP tea kettle. That is too bad but sure glad the house didn't catch on fire. You all were very lucky. Have a great week end.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame your new kettle got burned - have done it myself and it is so easy to get distracted. Well that's my excuse for forgetful anyway!!
ReplyDeleteSue (Hannah and Lucy's Mum)

Oh my goodness. May you RIP, little non-whistling tea kettle. You went way too soon.
ReplyDeleteBut we are very very thankful that nothing serious happened.
I am sorry about your teapot. Thanks for visiting my blog and checking out that interview. My hope is it takes the fear out of volunteering for anyone that has considered doing so!
ReplyDeleteI LAUGHED! Well, my mom sure did. This was funny and made mom's day although both of us are sorry the teapot died a horrible untimely death.

ReplyDeleteAllie: *eyeroll* Ignore the Brat, please! Mother noticed the same thing on blogger's new dashboard - it changed to a M thru M calendar, with S & S on the end HMPF!
Maxwell: We saw Rumpydog's bloggie too and were sooo happy cuz meowmeowmans of Animal Shelter Volunteer Life is one of our very favoritest peeps, too!
RIP, little teapot! Mom had a defective bag of popcorn burn in the microwave yesterday. Now the house stinks burnt popcorn. The worst part is we didn't even get a taste of that popcorn.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
That's sad about the tea kettle. See, if that gift had been kitty toys instead, killing would have been a GOOD thing!
ReplyDeleteWe are sorry to hear about the untimely demise of the the teakettle, but very relieved to hear that you are all right.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Padre, Panda Bear, Meerkat, Cookie, Caramel, Sunny, Sky, and Mama Rose

ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
Oh what a meltdown and it's beyond revival. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is the saddest thing I've read in oh at least 5 minutes!!! Poor kettle, didn't really have much of a life :(((
ReplyDeleteI've never trusted Blogger auto post! The very thought freaks me out! It could change things before publishing. Grief, it might even improve the post!!!!!
Poor kettle and poor Jan not getting her chocolate. I know how cranky my Mum gets without hers!
ReplyDeleteOMD..poor kettle. Definite case of meltdown.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.

That kettle has definitely gone off to kettle heaven! We are glad you are all safe, though.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting about our interview with Rumpydog. It was great fun, and we're always excited to share about our volunteering experiences.
Big hugs to you all!
Alas, poor kettle. I knew him, hot chocolate.
ReplyDeletePoor tea kettle. It was so young and pretty. I'm sure it will be missed.
ReplyDeleteThat interview is great. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the purrs and prayers for Mason. They really worked and he is home!!! A miracle for sure.
Well that sounds like an alarming day! We are sorry your Tea Kettle went to the Rainbow Bridge.
ReplyDeleteAwwww....so sad.
ReplyDeleteBut funny, too! :-D
Now I know why Daddy doesn't have a traditional tea pot.
He'd probably spend as much time replacing them as dringking tea made from them. :-D
