A Clock and A Calendar

Cyndi:  As you all know, Jan is almost always late for events such as birthdays, Gotcha Days, Bring a Veggie to Church Days -

Merci:  I don't remember ever seeing a Bring a Veggie to Church Day on our calendar.

Cyndi:  I don't either but I'm sure there is one and Jan just forgot to write it down.

Merci:  What brought this up?

Cyndi:  I was just about to tell everyone that Jan is just as lousy at telling time as she is at reading a calendar.

Merci:  What makes you say that?

Cyndi:  Jan has been trying to reach our friend Miss Pat for some time but every time she calls, she gets Miss Pat's answering machine.   Last week Jan emailed her and asked Miss Pat to pick a time and she would call.

Merci:  So they finally connected and had a good chat?

Cyndi:  Actually, Miss Pat suggested any time after 9:30 A.M. the other day.  Jan waited until 9:55 to give her time to get home from a morning errand.  She called again about 10:15.

Merci:  Why did she call Miss Pat twice?

Cyndi:  Because she got the answering machine.  She decided to try once more just after noon and Miss Pat answered.  Jan mentioned having missed her earlier and Miss Pat said, "I was here waiting for your call."

Merci:  Do you think Jan dialed a wrong number?

Cyndi:  No, it wasn't a wrong number.  It finally occurred to Jan she was supposed to call at 9:30 Miss Pat's time, which is two hours behind ours.

Merci: I guess its a good thing Miss Pat didn't suggest Jan call at 8:00 A.M..

Cyndi:  It's also a good thing Jan didn't write it on her calendar.

Merci:  Speaking of the calendar, I noticed Miss Pat has a birthday on the 12th.  I think we should wish her a wonderful celebration now because you know how Jan is with a clock and a calendar.

Cyndi:  You're right.  Happy Birthday, Miss Pat, from all of us at the Funny Farm!

Hear Me Screech

Marcus:  I am Marcus, hear me -

Rusty:  Screech.

Marcus:  - roar.  Hey, I do not screech!

Rusty:  You screech all the time.  If you don't learn to use an inside voice, we're all going to go deaf.

Marcus:  I risk my life protecting all of you from that noisy monster and you accuse me of screeching?

Rusty:  That's called a vacuum cleaner and we don't really need to be protected from it.

Marcus:  But I want to protect you all from it.  It sucks up the trash I shred.  What if it sucks up one of you?

Rusty:  There's no need to whip yourself into a frenzy.  On second thought, go ahead.  Tire yourself out screeching at the machine.

Marcus:  I showed that machine who's boss, but for some reason I feel a little dizzy.  I think I should go lie down for a while.

Rusty:  You deserve a medal for your courage.  I'll just sit here and enjoy some peace while you have a long rest.

Rachel Ray Nutrish Peak

Marcus:  Come on, come on, come on!  Where is my breakfast?

Buddy:  If you would stop trying to rush Jan, you might get it faster.

Marcus:  But I'm hungry and I can't wait to try the new food.

Merci:  What you need is a heaping helping of patience.

Marcus:  I'd rather try a heaping helping of the new Rachel Ray Nutrish Peak dog food.

Merci:  Don't be in such a rush.  We'll be eating it for the next 30 days.  This is the first of three posts we will be doing on it.

Buddy: Chewy lists these as the Key Benefits -

  •    PEAK Northern Woodlands Recipe from Rachael Ray Nutrish is packed with delicious proteins that dogs instinctively crave.
  •     Real U.S. farm-raised turkey is always the #1 ingredient, combined with protein-rich duck, quail, and essential nutrients.
  •     With 30% high-quality protein, it will help your pup stay satisfied and full of energy.
  •     The high-quality proteins provided in this formula provide essential nutrients to help support healthy organs and lean muscle mass.
  •     Chicken fat, whole flaxseed and menhaden fish meal are naturally rich sources of Omega 6 and Omega 3 fatty acids, which help support healthy skin and coat.

Marcus:  You could sure use some energy, Buddy.  You've been pooping out before the end of the block for a while now.

Merci:  I think "pooping out" might be a poor choice of words in a review.  It might be better to say Buddy, who loves to walk, has been tiring easily on walks and demanding to return home.

Merci:  Jan keeps a plastic container of our food in the kitchen. This is the Northern Woodlands Recipe with turkey, duck and quail.

Buddy:  Today we just want to give our first impression. As you can tell by the first photo, Marcus thought it smelled good enough to eat in a hurry.

Merci:  Jan was pleasantly surprised to read the minerals are chelated.  That makes them easier for the body to absorb.

Marcus:  It tasted good too. I'm the food guard while our meals are being fixed and I guarded those bowls so no cat got to taste test.

Merci:  We will be reporting back in two weeks to let you know how we are doing on the Nutrish Peak dog food.

Buddy:  We are thankful for this opportunity to try this new food.  I hope it does help raise my energy level but if it raises Marcus's, we're all in trouble!

Percy Finds New Beds

Marcus:  Hey, Percy, why are you sleeping on Jan's knit hat and scarf?

Percy:  Jan left them here for me to sleep on.

Marcus:  Are you sure?  She was wearing them because she was cold sitting at the computer.

Percy:  She took them off and left the room.  I'm sleeping on them; ergo, she left them here for me to sleep on.

Marcus:  You're probably right.  If she wanted them, she would have reclaimed them by now.

Percy:  Please turn out the light as you leave the room.

Percy:  It wasn't very nice of Jan to wake me the other night to demand back her scarf, but she left this on Marcus's crate.  It's soft and warm and she knows I like to sleep up here, so it must have been put here for me.

Marcus:  Hey, Percy, you get off my new blankie!  Stella Rose sent it to me (Marcus Has A Blankie), not you.

Percy:  You're not using it right now, but I'm ready for a nap.  Can we discuss this later?

Marcus:  No, you didn't ask my permission.  If you don't move right now, I'm going to pull my blankie out from under you!

Percy:  You'll shred it with your teeth if you do that, and how would you explain to Stella Rose that you destroyed her present?

Marcus:  Oh, no, you're right.  I can't do that.  So what can I do to get you to give me back my blankie?

Percy:  You can wait until after I finish my nap and I will return it to you.

Marcus:  Oh, okay.  How long do you think you'll need it for your nap?

Percy:  Just until tomorrow morning.

Marcus:  But it's only 8 a.m.  You can't possibly sleep for 24 hours.

Percy:  I can on something this soft and warm.  Would you ask the others to keep the noise down so I can rest?

Marcus:  Certainly, and I'll bring you a cup of hot apple cider and a bowl of already chewed kibble.  Would you like me to use the litter pan for you too?

Percy:  Don't be silly.  I'd rather have a cup of hot nip cider. And please turn out the light as you leave the room.
