Thankful 4 of July

Well, it's the 4th of July again.  Time to be thankful for American independence. A time to make sure you have a pair of earplugs for each of you so you don't have to listen to the neighbors setting off firecrackers after midnight.

It's also Thankful Thursday and we have a lot to be thankful for this week.  So before we fall asleep at the computer and forget, we want to shout out THANK YOU, KHYRA!  Back in the beginning of March Khyra was one of the winners of 26 pet items.  She decided to share what she couldn't use and we were fortunate to be online the Saturday night she offered some items on Facebook.  Sam Models his Thundershirt posted in April.

The rest of our goodies arrived a few days ago.

A front lead harness for Buddy with a matching leash and a pretty brown and cream collar for Merci.  Khyra threw in a couple of extra items.

Percy:  So the dogs get all the goodies and we cats get ... well, we get to wonder why Miss Khyra would think we need cat litter deodorant.  She must have sent it for the human litterbox.  You think?  Yes, definitely for Jan's litterbox.  Thanks, Khyra.

Buddy:  We tried on our new finery today and Jan said we were the best models she's ever dealt with.

Percy:  Uh, Buddy, her face was kind of screwed up when she said that.  She was poking fun at you guys.

Buddy:  Why would she poke fun at us?  We were perfectly obedient.  See.

Merci:  I don't think this is a very good example, Buddy.  We're a bit uncoordinated here.  How about this one.

Sam:  Um, I don't think this is a good example either.  It's all your fault, Buddy.

Buddy:  Me?  What did I do wrong?

Sam:  You were hovering.  Jan said sit and your butt hovered.

Buddy:  Hovered?  I sat.

Sam:  Look again, Hover Butt.  You only pretended to sit.  And you weren't very good at pretending.  Your butt isn't anywhere even approximately near the ground.

Buddy:  Well, at least Jan didn't need to put our blog name over .. um, a certain part of my anatomy.  A little brazen, weren't you?   And besides, when I sat down the camera couldn't catch my new harness.

Sam:  Merci, if we just ignore him, perhaps he'll go away. 

Merci:  This is my new collar.  Pretty, isn't it!  Take a good look cause my hair keeps covering it over.  At least one of us behaved during the photo shoot.

Sam:  And that one would be you, I suppose?  I don't think so!

Merci:  That's not true.  I did everything Jan told me to.

Sam:  You mean you did everything Jan told you NOT to do!  Sit up, Merci, while I walk around and get a shot.  No, Merci, I told you to face forward.  Stand up.  I don't want a shot of your tummy.  Sit here and I'll walk around you for the umpteenth time.

Merci:  Well, if you hadn't been so jealous you kept stepping on me for attention, maybe I would have stayed still. 

Buddy:  While those two argue, let me model my new harness.  The fit leaves a lot to be desired in this photo.  I seem to have lost a bit of weight since Jan measured me for it and since Jan is all thumbs, she had a bit of trouble making adjustments with me in it.  Once we were home again, Jan made the final adjustments and it's now comfortable.

Merci:  Yes, we had a nice, slow stroll again tonight.  Slow because Jan's ankle and foot have been giving her serious trouble the last couple of weeks and she has been having trouble walking (or sitting),  so we have to practically walk backwards to keep down with her (as opposed to keeping up). 

Sam: She said she really likes the front lead harness on Buddy.  He walked very well in it today.  Little does she know he's waiting for her to stop being an invalid so he can lead the parade again.  Can't wait to see that.

Percy:  It's a bit hot and humid in the house, so I hope you will forgive the canine rivalry. That would never happen between us kitties, would it, Micah?  *devilish grin*

Jemma and Tofu

Today's Meet & Greet at the Blogville Chronicle has been posted.  As you can guess from the post title, Jemma and Tofu are our subjects of the day. 


We are sorry for the demise of the Google Reader.  It was the best RSS feed reader around and it will be missed.  Actually, it has been missed ever since the announcement was made about it closing, as so many bloggers scrambled to find another reader to replace it.  It has been mass confusion, even thought we put in one entire day cleaning out old links and categorizing everything. And so far none of the others we've tried measure up.

We signed up with Feedly and ended up with 500-plus subscriptions in no particular order..  Actually, we only have 298 in our feed.  We COUNTED them!  So Feedly is a bust.

We then signed up with Bloglovin and it wasn't any better.  We had fewer subscriptions than we actually do and what did import are in no particular order.  Google Reader gave us the option to change the blog title and we took advantage of that.  We titled most of our feeds by the pet names, not by the blog titles and they matched the lists in our browser bookmarks. So there is no way we can coordinate the mess of proper blog names to find which Bloglovin imported and which it dumped.  

As a last minute salvage, we opened an account with Old Reader.  For the moment all our feeds are accounted for and the correct titles (ours) are listed.  We don't know how to use it yet, but at least our info is safe.

It was a sad moment using Google Reader for the last time last night.  R.I.P., GR.

We're just including the one blog this time.  We're still waiting on readers to get back to us with suggestions or promised information. Plus, yesterday was Canada Day and Thursday is the US 4th of July celebration, so we know you're all busy.  Have a good week / weekend.  See you next week..

Entirely Pets for the Funny Farmers

Merci, Sam & Buddy:  

As you can see, we were not kidding yesterday when we said Jan is famous for making us wait to taste anything.  Here we are once again sniffing the wafting aroma of breakfast but unable to eat until Jan is ready.  This isn't Hollywood.  How hard can it be to push a button to snap a picture? 

You notice the white powder on top of our food?  Well, that and a little green powder underneath it are the main purpose of this post.

The white powder is something called NaturVet Digestive Enzymes prebiotics and probiotics which are good for our digestive health. (For dogs and cats over 6 weeks of age.)  These enzymes are derived from vegetable sources to help strengthen the immune system and normalize bowel movements,

 

Cyndi, Cameron, Percy, Rusty & Micah:  But what about us cats; will we eat it too?  Jan mixed it in our morning canned food.

Cameron:  I'd ask why I got served first today but that can wait till I finish my breakfast.

The green powder Jan mixed in with the digestive enzymes is Pet Kelp.antioxidant formula for dogs and cats.  It contains dried kelp, organic flax seed and blueberries (antioxidants) , which have lots of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and  also Omega 3 and 6.

Buddy is famous for waddling across the yard leaving a trail of poop behind him, but he's doing better in the week or so he's been taking the digestive enzymes and kelp once a day.

 Micah:  I better hurry up and finish before Cyndi pushes her nose in my bowl.

Cyndi:  I better hurry and finish so I can check the other bowls for leftovers.

Percy:  I know Cyndi thinks she's going to find leftovers.  Ha!

 

Rusty:  By the time Cyndi and Micah have checked the other bowls, I'll be taking a bath.

Buddy:  The little spray bottle in the middle is Manna Pro CalmCoat, a concentrated natural topical.to promote natural healing.  It's hot and humid here and my skin allergies have blossomed again so Jan is using a little CalmCoat on the areas I've been chewing and licking. I offered to pose for an application photo but Jan said she won't allow us to post nude photos, as this is a child-friendly blog.  Oh, well, readers, I tried.  Anyway, it has lavender oil, eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil and canola oil.  It's for dogs only - not for cats! 

Buddy:  I give the CalmCoat a paw up.

Funny Farmers: After trying them, we give 8 paws up to the enzymes and the kelp..
