Marcus Has A Blankie

Marcus:  Really, Jan, you think this is funny?  Stop laughing!  I can still hear you in the kitchen.

Cyndi:  I think you look cute.  You remind me of one of those pictures of an ancient Egyptian Pharaoh.

Marcus:  No, this is not any better.  I am not a butterfly.

Cyndi:  I hear you complaining but I haven't heard you saying thank you for the lovely gift.  By the way, how did you rate a special gift all your own?

Marcus:  Stella Rose, Angus, Maggie and their mom think I deserve something special for being such a good boy all the time.

Cyndi:  I hope you don't think anyone is going to believe that.  Why don't you tell the truth?

Marcus:  Okay, but I like my version better!  She explained it in a blog comment yesterday.  "Dear Marcus, we are so happy you liked your new blankie. We sent that to you to cos mom read a post where you could not find yours. Stella Rose"

Cyndi:  She must mean the post where you were wailing about losing your blankie.  (Since I Lost My Blankie)   But you didn't lose your blankie, you lost your bedding - except you were sleeping on it at the time.  So, actually, you got a new blankie under false pretenses.

Marcus:  That's okay, I still love it, just not when Jan makes me pose wearing it.  Thank you so much to the Three Little Pugs for giving me such a nice blankie of my own. It was a nice surprise.

Cyndi:  It worked for you.  Do you think it would work for me?  I guess it won't hurt to try.  I really loved my nip nanner and I really miss it.

Marcus:  You never had a nip nanner!

Cyndi:  You never had a blankie either!

Unexpectedly Gifted

MARCUS:  Hey, Jan, what's this?  Is this all for me?

SAM:  You lay a paw on anything there and you'll have to answer to Merci, Buddy and me!

MARCUS:  But where did it come from?  Did Jan order it for us?

RUSTY::  No, Jan was surprised to find it on our porch when she came back from the meeting last Thursday.

MICAH:  It was funny.  You dogs are doing the 30 day I and Love and You Challenge and she wondered what could be in a box from them.

CYNDI:  When she opened it, she found dog goodies and socks.  Organic cotton socks.  15 pairs.

PERCY:  That's enough she could wear two pairs on her feet, a pair on her hands, a pair on her ears, and a single sock on her nose this winter to keep warm, and she would still have leftovers.

BUDDY:  Okay, I was with you right up until you hung one sock on her nose.  She'd need two socks, one for each nostril.

SAM:  They wouldn't stay on and her nose would freeze anyway.

BUDDY:  Not if she anchors them with a clothes pin. That's what she does with the new drapes.

MICAH:  To get back to the subject, Jan started to write an email to Miss Sydney at Chewy to ask if she knew anything about the box.

RUSTY:  She happened to look down at the box and noticed a slight problem.

CYNDI:  The box was sent to our address but the addressee was not Jan of Jan's Funny Farm.  It wasn't even close.

MERCI:  She emailed the sender instead.  As it turned out, no one was more surprised Jan had received an unexpectedly gifted box than the sender.  Jan was sad she would have to return all those socks.

SAM:  Socks?  What about all those dog goodies?

PERCY:  A clerical error giveth and the right thing to do taketh away.

MERCI:  That's easy for you to say since there wasn't anything in the box for you cats.

PERCY:  I and Love and You had partnered with the Wearpact sock company for a "Socks and Paws" contest.

BUDDY:  The lady from the company was very nice. We get to keep the box.  Oh, and everything in it too.  When the winner receives a replacement box, we are sure she will enjoy it as much as we are enjoying this one.

MARCUS:  You mean this is all ours?  How generous!  So when does Jan intend to start passing out the treats?

NOTE:  Just for the record, this is a true story.  We are grateful for the unexpected gift.  It will in no way affect our 30 day I and Love and You challenge.  Both they and Chewy are expecting an honest review of the product we are testing.

Moses, Stanley and the Pup

PERCY:  Well, we weren't going to post today but the dogs had an adventure this morning and want to share it.

MICAH:  Yeah, if Jan hadn't snapped a couple of fast photos, we would think they imagined the whole thing.

RUSTY:  Buddy, Merci and Sam set off on a late morning walk with Jan.  We were all waiting for them to get home so we could eat.

CYNDI:  We'll let them tell it since we were in the kitchen waiting for our breakfast and missed the entire episode.

MERCI:  From a distance, we recognized Stanley's bike with the cart where Moses rides.  Stanley had an extra dog racing around.  He got off his bike and put a leash on it.

SAM:  As we approached on the other side of the street, we all started barking. They had to yell at each other to be heard but Jan thanked him for restraining the dog.  He said the dog appeared out of nowhere and was following them, so he'd take it downtown with him and call Animal Control.

BUDDY:  The dog - a pup actually - was trying to get loose to come meet us.  It would be a long, hard trip downtown with the pup, so Jan offered to let Stanley put the pup in our yard and after we walked her, she would call AC for him.  We came back and Jan unlocked the gate.

MERCI: Before he resumed his trip to town, we got to meet Stanley in the flesh.  Moses, a little white dog, is our Humane Society's mascot.

SAM:  And then we set off again on our walk.  We got as far as next door and Jan realized there were now four of us.  Yep, the pup was loose.  He was a nice, friendly pup and we tried to chase him off  but he followed us back home.  Jan brought us inside.  The pup wouldn't come in so she could call AC to pick him up.

BUDDY:  She put us in the back yard.  Fortunately, she checked first because the gate was wide open.  The latch must not have caught properly.  She went back to the front door and invited the pup inside.  Not even treats could entice him!  She grabbed a leash from a door and when she reached the porch, the pup was already up the street and disappearing from sight.

MERCI:  We're sorry, Stanley. but we want to let you know not to be surprised if the pup appears out of nowhere again.

Poppy's Surprise

Our new friend Poppy Q from New Zealand had another surprise for us today. You remember Poppy. She recently surprised us with a package containing the two beautiful Gizzy quilts Miss Lynne made.

We don't want to spoil her surprise, so we'll just let you go read it for yourselves. The title of today's story is ( a surprise ).

And while you're there, don't be a lurkey turkey. If you have a blogger account, say hello. <(^,^)>
