Meet Tess and Jake
Marcus: Hey, I don't like this one bit. I'm supposed to be the center of attention. Why are we featuring strangers today?
Cyndi: This blog is not all about you. You have to learn to share.
Marcus: In that case, I'm going to collect my toys and hide them, especially my soccer ball, until after the strangers leave.
Cyndi: They aren't actually here, Marcus. You don't have to hide anything. We're just sharing a little blog time with some pups today.
Marcus: Are we getting paid?
Cyndi: No, we're just being neighborly. Put a smile on your face and help me introduce them.
Marcus: Okay, I'll help, but I want to get paid, so you need to knock down that open bag of treats on top of my crate after we finish.
Cyndi: If you do it out of the goodness of your heart, you'll feel so good you won't need treats.
Marcus: All right, I'll try. This adorable little puppy is Tess.
Cyndi: Wait! This could be Jake. I'm not sure.
Marcus: How could you not know which pup is which?
Cyndi: Because there were no names with the pictures and every pup needs a name, so I picked two just for this post.
Marcus: Oh, great. So this is Jake ... or Tess. Do you know anything about them?
Cyndi: Yes. There are seven puppies looking for a good forever home. They are a Lab/Weimaraner mix.
Marcus: A what mix?
Cyndi: Everyone knows the happy, energetic Labrador retriever. A Weimaraner is a gray hunting dog.
Marcus: So we're asking if anyone is looking to adopt a dog that will collect all the tennis balls in its path as it hunts the human's dinner?
Cyndi: Something like that. A playful working dog. As I said there are seven pups, in various shades of chocolate. Two Tesses and five Jakes. They were six weeks old last Friday.
Marcus: The pups are in Upson County, Georgia. If anyone is interested in adopting one, email us your information and we will pass the information on to the puppy's human. There is a contact form in the left column of this blog.
Cyndi: Thank you for helping me, Marcus. Here's the treat bag you asked for.
Marcus: But it's empty.
Cyndi: You asked for the treat bag. You didn't mention wanting something in it.

Old Texas Grouch
| Sam in thundershirt |
Hey, Sam here. We've been having some thunderstorms lately, so I've been wearing my thundershirt again. I'm so grateful Khyra shared this part of her prize with me a while ago because this has helped. Over time, I've become less frightened but I still stick to Jan like glue before and during a t-storm. I've stopped shaking like a vibrating cement block, though. (A little humor there. My nickname is Brick Butt, you know.)
But I'd really like to share a happy ending adoption story with you today. Our Texas rescue friend Mark posted it on facebook and he said it's okay for us to share it with you for Thankful Thursday. He's helped a LOT of dogs, including the vetting of little Luke, the lost puppy who stayed with us for five weeks. Luke went home last Friday.
I'll let him tell the story in his own words.
Last Friday, after having lunch together, a friend and I went by a rescue org I used to go to every day to give treats to all the orphans in the kennels - before I had the stupid hemmorhagic stroke when my blood pressure went through the roof from being involved in a cruelty case that wasn't moving fast enough. GRRRR!
Anyway, while we were getting out of the truck, there was a lady I knew with her little girl. They had been visiting the orphans. I asked if they saw any they liked, to which they replied, "Yes, a kitten and a young lab male."
I asked if they wanted to adopt them and the woman said they were short ten dollars, to which I replied I could get that much discounted. We went in and I made it happen. The kitten and the young lab went home where they will be inside and loved the rest of their lives. Makes you wonder why, or how, timing happened like this. Is He keeping an eye on me again?
That is the cutest kitty. Blue eyes, silver and white fur, with a loud yowl when it's not being held. The pup will whip you to death with his tail. LUVIT when things go like this.
Yep, Mark Crider, the Old Texas Grouch is coming back.
It's been a long, hard journey but nothing - not even a stroke can diminish the love Mark has for the orphans, as he calls the homeless furries. Welcome back, you old Texas grouch. You continue to make a difference.

Adoptions, Buddy and Opus
September 17 - 25 is Petfinder.com's Adopt-A-Less-Adoptable-Pet Week.

We hope you will open your heart to special needs pets. Adopt the black dog or cat that is overlooked and often not adopted. Adopt the blind , the deaf, the disabled, the FIV positive, the old (even the elderly) or the much-maligned pit bull ...
They might be "different" but they can and will love and appreciate you as much as any other dog or cat would. Dare to think outside the box (doghouse or litterbox) and save a life. The pet you pick will be grateful for life!
Buddy is a feral cat that disappeared for 2 years but suddenly reappeared with a neck wound that Mr. Pip's mom wanted to get treated. Unfortunately, when she trapped him and took him to the vet, she learned his wound was much worse than thought and Buddy's pain was gently ended. Buddy was loved and his life mattered, so we made him a memorial badge. You can read his story on Mr. Pip's blog.
If you posted one of the earlier invitations, please exchange it for this updated one. The party will be held at Gracie's blog.

Cameron Reports
Hey, Cameron here. I had to get up to ... um, you know, visit the litter room, so I thought I'd just grab the chair while it's empty and say hello. It's too hot and humid here to have any news. But I can think of some news elsewhere.
Trouble from Dennis the Vizsla's blog has left for the bridge. She had a long life and we'll miss her. She added spice to Dennis' highly unusual adventure stories. Actually, she was the "villain" who was always trying to kill him or get him killed. Dennis has only been posting occasionally as his dada is concentrating on another book.
Many of you know Amber da Weenie. She hasn't been blogging much for a while because they went on vacation in June and then they had lots of visitors. Reno, their 16 year-old Eskie, left for the bridge on June 2nd, while they were away. And now their Tucker has been diagnosed with lung cancer and is preparing to leave also. Please keep Amber, her mom and the rest of the pack in your thoughts.
We stopped by Freya's blog and enjoyed the review/demonstration video. Especially the whapping part. We figure we can use it to prove to Jan we aren't the only siblings that whap each other.
I know there's more news somewhere but my brain is on heat overload, so that's all for now. Have a great day.
Update: A happy dance for Lil Em is about all we'd be moving around for today. And we're not only moving, we're dancing. Lil Em was adopted! You can read about it on Brian's Home blog.

Cotton and County Kittens
Hey, Cotton here. Excuse me for talking with my mouth full but watching today's video made me hungry. Oh, for the day when I had that much energy. But I'll be turning 13 next month so I get hungry just watching those calories get burned.Since a Petsense store opened locally last year, a number of cats have been adopted from there. It helps that their store is in the Wal-mart shopping center. It's easier for folks to pop in to see what cats are available while they are there shopping than to drive way out in the county. So this seems to be working well for both the store and the county shelter - and especially for the cats.
While Jan was there today, she stopped in and shot this very short video of three kittens playing. There should be four kittens but one climbed out several times and had to be returned to a cage. There are adult cats there too. And more at the shelter, along with a variety of dogs and puppies. So Jan thought she would practice making a video, something she hasn't tried in a long time, and put this together. It's very plain, no frills, so don't expect violins and dancing bears.

Cameron would Play Fetch
Hey, Cameron here with today's news. First, we are so happy Precious kitty was adopted in time. You can check Brian's blog for any details.
We have a video for you. This adorable, friendly dog wants to play fetch. He does everything he can to get a man's attention so he'll throw the stick for him but the man sits there like he's a statue. He refuses to even acknowledge the dog's presence. Maybe the dog should bite that mean man's leg. He'd pay attention then.
Hey, woofie, I'm a cat but I'd throw it for you, if I could.
If the video doesn't play, click here.
Harharhar, fooled you for a minute, didn't I!
We're very sad that Chance Bond and Imp lost their woofie brother Shadow on Thursday, May 5th. He was taken tot he vet because he couldn't stand on his own and it was discovered he was in kidney failure. The news was posted on his mom's Facebook wall. We don't know whether they'll post a farewell to Shadow on their blog but you can leave a message on Chance's blog. His family really misses him.
Jerry L of CrizCats left for the bridge yesterday. Stop by and leave Criz a message of sympathy too. And on a happier note, don't forget Auntie Stinkie's 19th birthday party Sunday 9 am to 12 noon (Pacific time). They're going to have a movie too. Where? Dr. Tweety & the Fab 5 blog.

Cyndi and Who R U Video
Hey, Cyndi here for today's post. We had to shut the computer down early last night because of another tornado watch and "super cell" storms. That's what the weatherman called them on the TV last night. We don't like thunderstorms and thought a thunderstorm is a thunderstorm, only differing in intensity. But we googled "super cell" and learned a supercell is a thunderstorm with deep rotating drafts. (In case any of you are curious about different types of storm cells, we found an easy to read explantion.)I have a cute American Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy video for you today. Puppies are cute to watch, especially when one meets itself for the first time. Lots of entertainment without an extra mouth to feed.
If the video doesn't play, click here.
Rabbits are Taking over All Things Dog Blog today, so stop by, see some adorable bunnies up for adoption, and join the blog hop.
