Buddy: It's fairly quiet around the blogosphere as so many pet bloggers are attending BlogPaws in Las Vegas this week. It started the 8th and runs through the 10th.
Merci: We hope everyone is having a good time and meeting lots of online friends in person.
Sam: We thought of stuffing Jan in a box and mailing her to Las Vegas, but ... can you imagine the postage? And she'd expect to eat while she's there, so we decided we better not try it.
Marcus: Do you think we'll get a thank you card from the Post Office for not giving any of their employees a hernia trying to lift a box with Jan in it?
Buddy: *mumbles* Uh, guys, zip the lip. Jan just entered the room.
Cyndi: Okay, in other news, this is the day we felines usually publish a Mousebreath interview.
Micah: We didn't have one last week but we have a great interview lined up for you this week.
Cameron: When we think of a service animal, a dog usually pops into mind. But did you know cats and small horses and other animals also make a good service animal?
Rusty: As far as we could find, there is no organization that trains service cats. Owners have to train their own. It would be worth it for anyone with a need and has a fear of dogs or just prefers cats.
Percy: Dezi and Lexi of Dezizworld blog are service cats with an interesting story. Perhaps you haven't met them yet? They are new to blogging. You can read their story, Service Cats Dezi and Lexi - in their own words - exclusively at Mousebreath, the ezine for cats by cats.
There is no Pet Parade blog hop this week. It will resume next week after pet bloggers have returned from BlogPaws and resumed posting.

Saint Charley
Rusty: We're starting to wonder whose blog this actually is. One way or another, Jan keeps sneaking in.
Micah: Yeah, even if she has to be punched in the eye by one of us. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Merci: If you're thinking this is deliberate, I heartily agree!
Sam: You mean Jan punched herself in the eye just to get on our blog?
Cameron: Which one of you guys tattled and told Jan I was the one who fell on her eye and then kicked her?
Cyndi: You did.
Cameron: I did not!
Cyndi: Yes, you did. You were spending a good part of each day on the ice chest on top of the fridge. You even demanded your breakfast be served there.
Buddy: And right after you hit Jan on the head with the ice chest and kicked her in the eye, you stopped hanging out there. When you finally dared to venture back, as soon as you saw her heading for the freezer door, you jumped down and ran to hide in the closet.
Percy: You do know that was as good as a signed confession, don't you?
Marcus: Cameron signed a confession? I thought we were all going to stick together and protect the identity of the innocent perp.
Percy: We did protect Cameron. But he blew it.
Cameron: I'm sorry, guys. It wasn't intentional. I was sound asleep dreaming of chasing a catnip mousie and all of a sudden I was sliding downhill, hit something solid (Jan's face), kicked off to protect myself, and ran for my life. It was an absolutely Terrifying Hour and a Half. It takes a while to recover from that kind of trauma.
Marcus: I don't know why we're discussing this. I thought we were preparing to auto post this in the morning so we can have dinner before midnight. It's almost that now.
Buddy: He's right. Jan returned from Bible study, went for a walk with us dogs, and then started working on a graphic for her minister. She said if we post the graphic, she'll fix our dinner.
Cyndi: Her pastor talked on the first two verses of Ephesians 1 to remind the humans there God calls his people saints. He often jokes that his wife refuses to call him Saint Charley, so Jan decided to make him an XL "business card".
Marcus: Here we go, Pastor ... um, Saint Charley. We understand your church is thankful to have you. And we will love you and your wife too, just as soon as we finally get tonight's ... yesterday's dinner.

Look Up and Smile
Buddy: We're going to post something a little different today.
Cyndi: We furries aren't guilty of this but our humans are, so we thought this would be appropriate to post.
Sam: Jan doesn't have an iPad or a cell phone but she has a computer and it does take a lot of time away from us.
Rusty: She's not very social media savvy, though, so we can't blame that on her.
Cameron: Jan is so old she actually remembers when there were no cell phones to go off in church or a meeting because someone forgot to turn it off, and, oh, well, since it rang, I might as well see want the caller wants.
Micah: Pssst, Cameron, how old is Jan?
Cameron: She's older than all of us, even Merci.
Micah: Wow, she's that old?
Merci: Hey, I heard that! Evidently humans used to talk to each other, but now we see most humans drive or walk by the house with a cell phone glued to their ears. And while they are with one human, they either talk to another human who isn't present or keep checking to see if anyone has texted them.
Micah: Jan said it's irritating to walk through a store and hear people talking louder than necessary on a cell phone. She doesn't want to listen to a stranger's one-sided conversation.
Percy: Yes, Jan is an old fogy, but we wonder what would happen if she suddenly had a cell phone. Would she morph into a tech age junkie like much of society today? Perhaps one day we'll find out. Until then, we want to share these words of wisdom with you - look up and smile! It might change your life.

A Four Ear Smile
Merci: Yesterday we posted the original of Micah's photo, along with a sepia version and also a reverse color copy, which for reason unknown came out blue and black..
Percy: I wonder what we'll post today? Haha, only kidding. This is black & white Sunday, so we'll post a purple version.
Marcus: Purple? Why would we post a purple version on black & white Sunday?
Micah: He's just pulling your chain, Marcus.
Marcus: What chain? Did one of you steal my chain?
Micah: You don't actually have a chain, Marcus. It's just an expression. Percy was joking. We're posting a black and white version of my photo today.
Buddy: This is also the day we do a Sunday Smile post to start our week off on a positive paw.
Rusty: We like to watch television with Jan once in a while. She isn't much for suspense so she might enjoy watching tv with this dog.
Cameron: I don't know about that. She doesn't like us talking while she's trying to listen. You know, old ears don't hear as well as young ones.
Cyndi: Yes, Jan gets upset with Buddy when he howls ... um, sings along to theme music or sirens that hurt his ears. She wouldn't be happy with one of us talking right in her ear.
Sam: Well, a play by play from one of us - even all of us would have to be more entertaining than most of the junk on television. I can imagine Jan sitting in front of the TV, Buddy starts talking in one ear, I start talking in the other, Merci starts yodeling in another, Cyndi climbs onto her shoulder chattering away ....
Buddy: Sam, stop! Jan doesn't have four ears!
Sam: She doesn't? Oh, right. I guess we'd just have to take turns. You all watch the video while I write out a talking schedule.
