Tweet Week - Snowball

Cotton: Fin of Housecat Confidential has declared this Tweet Week in honor of our feathered friends. So we thought we would do a bird post. But we don't know any birds.

Cameron: Yes, we do! We know Snowball of Bird Lovers Only Rescue Service.

Sam: Right. Let's post about Snowball.

Percy: Here we go. A video of Snowball (TM) in Taco Bell commercial. It's short but sweet. You'll enjoy this.

If the video doesn't play -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pCoSwbcBNU

Buddy: And don't forget to vote for Merci daily. We mean literally, don't forget. Jan signed in one day and wandered off to the CDC blog and very nearly forgot to go back and vote. Pack your memory, travel to Cutest Dog Contest, sign in, and vote before you forget why you're there, Jan.

Merci's personal voting page is: :

Last night we tried to view a blog we haven't visited in a few weeks and found a Google Safe Browsing diagnostic page instead. We were not aware there were a number of blogs unavailable for reasons which you can read on Blog missing due to malware classification in the Blogger help forum
. Be careful what 3rd party widgets and goodies you (and us too) add to your blog.

And on a similar subject, we have been finding a number of blogs lately which open a pop up advertisement when we click on "view my complete profile." This should not happen.

Safe blogging and have a barking/meowing great day!

Snowball Dances Ringo Starr

I posted once before about Snowball the cockatoo from Bird Lovers Only Rescue. He likes to dance to the Back Street Boys music.

Unfortunately, when he appeared on David Letterman's Stupid Pet Tricks segment a while ago, he froze and couldn't perform. This was very likely caused by the audience's reaction - clapping and making loud noise.

But Snowball is back, in his foot-stomping, prancing, bobbing and swaying dance routine. This time he dances to Ringo Starr's "Come on Christmas, Christmas come on." Cheering him on in the background is Mookie, a disabled Moluccan cockatoo.

Bird Lovers Only Rescue is a rescue/sanctuary. They now have Snowball on DVD to raise funds to help the birds. And don't any of you cats yell, Dinner! (Nor you, Samaritan. We don't care if you are a bird dog.) Snowball is the entertainment, not the main course.

Note - Keep your eye on Snowball. He's been listed as #10 on the Time Magazine list of Top 10 Web Videos. (Thanks for the heads up, Poppy Q.) Click here to view list.

Bird Dancing

Buddy, napping in the warm sunshine by the open back door, is awakened by a piercing racket. He leaps to his feet and races into the living room. He stops dead in the doorway, unable to believe his eyes.

Lined up facing the computer desk – Percy in front, the other cats in the next row and Samaritan and Merci to the rear –the Funny Farm resident are strutting back and forth while alternately stomping their back feet in unison – or somewhat in unison – while leading an imaginary band with their waving front paws, bobbing their heads in time to the music, and vocalizing in high-pitched screeches.

Buddy swivels his head to view the computer’s monitor screen on the desk. There, strutting, stomping and bobbing to the beat of the Back Street Boys is a bird on the back of a large chair.

“Watch where you’re stepping,” Cameron cries as Samaritan steps on his tail.

“Have you all lost your minds?” Buddy thunders above the music.

Percy turns his head without missing a beat. “Oh, hi, Buddy,” he hollers over the noise. “Come join our aerobics class.”

Merci seconds the invitation. “Yes, it will calm you down and help you sleep.”

“But I was sleeping,” Buddy roars.

Breathing hard, Crystal, the oldest of the group, calls over, “Then it will give you energy.”

“I don’t want energy,” Buddy bellows. “I want to sleep.”

“We’re having treats when we finish,” Cotton hollers.

Buddy’s ears perk up. “Treats? Okay. I’m in.”

He moves into line beside Merci. “Hey, this is fun,” he shouts, while he struts, stomps, waves and screeches with the rest of the bird dancing aerobics class.

(Snowball the dancing cockatoo video, otherwise known as the bird dancing aerobics instructor. May I have this dance?)

Update: Snowball now dances to Huey Lewis also. Click here to check him out.
