Hanging Butt Naked

PERCY:  Hey, Merci, why are you looking so thoughtful?

MERCI:  Well, it's Friday and you kitties don't have an interview again.

PERCY:  I know.  No matter what we do, too many of our subjects just take their time getting back to us, or they respond so late in the week we can't get it together in time.

MERCI:  Surely not all of them!

PERCY:  No, not all of them!  We've had some who have responded so quickly we were in shock, since it takes others weeks or months, even with reminders.

MERCI:  That seems awfully rude. Cyndi is kind of bummed because you Funny Farmer Felines have been removed from the Blogville Calendar TWICE because there were weeks at a time when you didn't have an interview.

PERCY:  Yes,we haven't bothered asking to be reinstated since the second time.  There were times the computer was having major problems.  There were times Jan was in need of our help because she was sick or injured.   But mainly, we just get slow responses.  Our stress level is high trying to juggle a bunch of files and folders - on hold, questions sent, waiting on photos, etc - and it is frustrating to be left hanging "butt naked" so frequently!

MERCI: It might be time you take a page from this video.  If something doesn't work, keep trying things until you find your niche.

PERCY:  Evidently trying to make others look good for free - sometimes even without a thank you - isn't our niche!  An interview requires interaction.  We can't do it alone and if our subjects want to earn a Cat Scout badge or get their name in Mousebreath without having to do anything to help or to do it in a timely manner, perhaps it's time to close the interviews.

MERCI:  The same thing happened when we started the Blogville interviews.  Great enthusiasm and responses for a while, then slow or no responses.  So we shut the interviews down.  But we had some fun interviews while they published.

PERCY:  We tried to make our Mousebreath interviews interesting and fun.  If we hear back from the ones in progress, we'll finish them and then retire.  As this short video reminds us, we are not all good at the same things and we need to find what we can do well.

(The video seems to have disappeared.)

Friday is also time for the Pet Parade blog hop, hosted by by Rascal and Roscoe.  It is co-hosted by Bionic Basil, Barking From the Bayou, Love is being owned by a husky, and us (Jan's Funny Farm).

There are two parts to the blog hop - your blog url and social media, so be sure to sign up for both.

  1. That's too bad kitties aren't responding promptly for your interviews - you'd think they'd want to get them done!

Oh that video made me tear up!!! Must say, efurrybuddy, having had my own stints as newsletter editor at different times and in different fields, I know exactly how you all are feeling right now! The articles don't just happen by themselves, do they?

...I wonder what you will come up with as your 'showstopper'?...

  4. Hi Y'all!

Oh y'all have it all wrong! It is always the humans! They frequently forget to check our email for us. When they have charge of the computer and forget to let us have our turn...well...bad things happen!

    Y'all come on by,

  6. You do such a good job with the interviews! We understand how frustrating it is. How about just cutting it down to once a month? Maybe that would give enough back and forth time to get it all accomplished and it wouldn't put Jan into too much of a time crunch? Oooooo Mom said she just felt something fuzzy go by her feet! 9. Aww I am sorry to hear this, but I can also appreciate the amount of work that must go into each publication. The. Interviews are always fun to read, but I must admit that we often miss some issues because of our typist. She is always laid up with something or other. If you do have to shut down I can well understand. Personally, we hate to see you do it, and you will be missed.

  12. When I see something like this I feel bad, guilty, like maybe I'm a culprit. I don't think I am though? Interviews sound like a lot of fun (but no cats live here). The Pet Parade badge looks so cute and colorful!

  15. So sorry you are having such difficulty with the interviews. Years ago, blogging seemed so easy and carefree, now we realize it is extremely time consuming and very, very difficult to keep up with. We appreciate what you do and hope things will get better! 16. We is sorry that the interviews are going to be done. But mom bean says she understands. She is finding it harder and harder to find time to visit efurrybody even just to say hello.

We loved the woofie video. Maybe it is just time to do something furry different and unexpected.

  17. It makes us so sad that you won't be continuing with your interviews, because we really do enjoy them. We certainly understand, though. Big hugs to you all.

  18. We think you did the interviews very well! and we enjoyed being interviewed by you too :) Maybe an interview every few months might be better for you and the subjects. It's difficult to keep up with everything online and we are certain the typists are just overwhelmed by life and all its' demands and are not intentionally being slow to respond to you. We know we can't keep up with everyone as much as we would like too :)

Thanks for the kind words for Isadora. She is eating now which has us all breathing a sigh of relief :)

We send mew many soothing hugs and purrs and if mew would like us to interview mew guys to feature on our blog any time at all, just shout out because we think mew're the bestest!

  20. Um...well...we are so behind we know how it can be but nevfur-the-less if a fur furmily cannot properly do an interview, then at least they should let you know...at least that is what we would do...which reminds us, meowmy was asked/tagged to do a posting of 8 happy pictures eons ago...then life's doings got in the way!

Hugs, all of your hard work was enjoyed by the readers of the finished products.
