Jan took some new photos yesterday of the emaciated Lab mix that was found shot with the arrow February 25th. He had a second wound in a rear leg. Both were at least a week old at that time.
Gangrene had already set in, and he might need another operation, but the dog is expected to make a good recovery. Right now his shoulder is draining and he is on antibiotics.
Jan is with the Upson Humane Society (NOT the shelter), which took responsibility for all of the dog's medical expenses. Surgery and extended medical care are not cheap! So the Humane Society was going to have to do some fundraising. But Tuesday, the vet let them know he is donating the dog's medical. What a wonderfully generous thing for him to do.
He's not particularly fond of the camera, but Jan says he is a very sweet-natured dog.
We see his rips, he seems to be very thin. Such a great doctor - purrs to the good man! And purrs for the doggie to make a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteWe are so glad to hear the dog will make a good recovery and that the Dr. donated the medical! That is all great news!
ReplyDeleteWe hope he keeps getting better and finds a nice home.
ReplyDeleteI hope he keeps doing well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a kind and generous thing to do, I could like that v-e-t though generally I'm not too keen on v-e-t-s at all!
ReplyDeleteThank you for keeping us updated Jan

That's good news he'll recover, and so nice of the vet to treat that sweet woofie for free.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great vet - it is refreshing to know there are good people out there like the vet, you, and your humane society. He makes mom very teary-eyed to see how thin he is and how badly injured he was.
ReplyDeleteWoos, the OP Pack
What a wonderful vet and it's good to see this dog is getting the care he deserves.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting!
Hugs to the kind vet. I bet in a month he'll look like a different dog with so many good people caring for him. Thanks for the update.
ReplyDeletewhat a lucky dog! we're so glad he'll be ok!
ReplyDeleteWe want Jan to tell the Doctor vet that we send him 9 big slurps and 3 small slurps for donating to help the doggie. That doggie looks a lot like our Abby. Our dad says it must have been a real man's man that shot such a ferocious looking man killer dog. Our dad is sometimes sarcastic. We think the doggies ribs will disappear in a few weeks. Sophie would donate some of her excess weight but we can't figure out how to get it off of her so it can be shipped.

How kind that vet is! We are hoping for the best for that poor animal--a good recovery and a loving furever family.

Don't you just love the vets that donate their services for the fur children! My mom is considering changing my vet because they weren't willing to work with her during my recent illness with the payments. She is looking in to pet insurance.
ReplyDeleteYou know Arrow, I don't like that flashy thing either. Mom is always flashing it in my eyes unless she turns the flash off. She tries to take my picture without the flash but sometimes it's impossible. We hope and pray for your complete recovery and you will be as good as new. We also hope the somehow the person that did this to you will get caught. If he doesn't God knows who did it and vengeance is His.

Even though he's a woofie, I'm sure glad that he will get better. Hopefully someone will want to adopt him and give him a good, loving home after all he's been through. While I don't especially like v-e-t-s, it was very generous of that one to treat him for free.
ReplyDeletePawsome bean doctor fer his help and we do hope he makes a full recovery so he can gets a great furever home!
ReplyDeleteIt was awesomely kind of the vet to donate his medical services. I hope that the dog recovers completely and finds a good forever home. He has been through enough hardship.

We are so glad the dog will be o.k.! He looks like such a sweetheart! What kind of a monster would try and shoot a sweet dog like this? We hope the person will get caught and punished for this. And hopefully this sweet dog will find a loving forever home!
