We Have A Cow

Rusty:  It's finally the weekend.  We get to nap all day long if Jan doesn't interrupt us.

Marcus:  It's my favorite day of the week.  We get to post a photo in dirt.

Cyndi:  You mean we get to post a photo in sepia.  You're really fixated on dirt, aren't you!

Cameron:  We think this looks like a vintage photo.  Kind of ... oh, maybe around Jan's heyday.  I think that was about 1823.

Merci:  This is the original photo of Luke and Sam.  You remember Luke the Pee Machine, don't you?

Buddy:  When Jan was playing around with this and inverted the colors, Percy rolled off the desk.  We were all rolling on the floor laughing.  Except Sam.

Sam:  I'd say you're all rude and mean, but I have to admit, I really do look like a grazing cow in this Caturday Art version.

Micah:  We've been posting all the photos together on Saturday recently, but we've been getting confused on Sunday and forgetting to enter the black and white blog hop, so we're trying a new system this weekend.

Percy:  Dezizworld gave us a few awards Thursday and we were barely given enough time on the computer to write the next day's post, so we didn't get to read their post until Friday.

Merci:  We are so far behind we won't be able to do a post on this, but we do want to acknowledge Dezi and Lexi's kindness in including us in the list of those they passed them on to.  We love you Dezi, Lexi and mom.

Not Merci or Cameron

Merci:  Where has this week gone?  It's already Friday and we haven't passed Monday yet, so we must be on the wrong merry-go-round.

Marcus:  So that's why I'm dizzy.  I thought it was because Jan was running around like a crazy person yesterday trying to prepare for a meeting at 11 A.M. that was actually scheduled for 12 noon.

Buddy:  Well, at least when she got home, Jan managed to get her act together to make a poster.  She needed a couple of animal photos in a hurry, so she cleaned up an old photo of Merci and kitten Cameron.

Sam:  Hey, why aren't the rest of us on the poster?  Oh, wait.  we don't want to be adopted.  We already have a home.  I hope no one wants to adopt you or Cameron, Merci.

Merci:  We're not up for adoption, Sam.  We're just shelter pet stand-ins.  And I was adopted from the shelter, so I don't mind helping others to get adopted too.

Sam:  Well, don't you go running off with someone new.  We're all kind of used to having you around.

Merci:  Why, Sam, I do believe that's the nicest thing you've said to me since 2012 when you told me I didn't smell too bad after we walked Jan in the rain.

Rusty:  We cats are a bit disappointed because we don't have a Mousebreath interview this week.

Percy:  Actually, we have one but we were unable to finish preparing it for publication today.

Micah:  Our interview subjects have graciously forgiven us of bailing on them at the last minute.

Cameron: We hated to do it but the information on the adoption day at the shelter didn't come together until yesterday afternoon.  Jan hijacked the computer to finish a poster so the publicity could begin.

Cyndi:  Do you think a cup of catnip tea could help Jan relax and get her act together so we can have more time on the computer?  No?  How about a few gallons?

Time, Focus, Camera

Cameron:  I thought things were supposed to change around here and we were supposed to get better quality of photos to post.

Rusty:  I did too, but let's give Jan the benefit of the doubt.  After all, she keeps saying she doesn't even have time to take a break and breathe any more.

Marcus:  Isn't that dangerous?  When I run and play too hard, I have to stop and catch my breath.  Doesn't Jan know to do that too?

Merci:  It isn't that she doesn't know to catch her breath when she's running in circles, it's a matter of not having enough hours in the day to stop to take a deep breath and de-focus.

Cyndi:  What does de-focus mean?  Is that when Jan takes a picture and we're moving so fast we're just a blur?

Percy: No, that means Jan gets so focused on what she is doing, she forgets to come up for air.

Marcus:  She's drowning?

Sam:  No, she has a one-track mind.  Give her two or three things to do and she de-rails.  By the time she's back on track, she has to rush to make up time.

Marcus:  So Jan has two or three things to do.  What does this have to do with the quality of our pictures?

Micah:  No, Jan has more than two or three things and she's an old fogey with a leaky mind, so when all these things pile up every day, she gets rattled and confused.

Marcus:  I think I know how she feels.  I'm a bit confused myself right now.

Buddy:  When Jan gets a chance to breathe, she wants to learn how to use her new camera.  She's been wanting a decent camera for years and finally had an opportunity to get one.  At least she hopes this will be a decent camera.

Percy:  This is her old one.  As you can tell, there's going to be quite a learning curve.  Sorry for the photo quality of both but we were lucky to get these.

Merci:  So what can we do to help her find the time to learn the new camera?

Cameron: I know.  We can set her watch back an hour a day to give her extra time.

Sam:  That sounds like a good idea.  Let's do it!

Fire Ant Detector

Micah:  What's this I heard about Jan dancing on your walk yesterday morning?  And without music.

Rusty:  I didn't hear that .  Jan - the tortoise - was dancing down the road?

Cyndi:  Oh, that's not fair.  We kitties didn't get to see it.

Marcus:  What you are complaining about?  I'm a dog and I didn't get to see it.

Merci:  If you would behave instead of trying to play attack, you could go with us.  But you're such a pain, Jan has to walk you separately.

Marcus:  Well, isn't it funny I behave so well when I walk Jan by myself?

Sam:  Don't blame us.  Walking is a pleasure when we leave you at home.

Buddy:  You can stop arguing.  Jan wasn't dancing.  When Jan cleaned up my poop, fire ants climbed her shoes.  There wasn't any nest to see, but when we resumed our walk, the fire ants attacked her legs and that dance was her trying to stomp the ants off her shoes while scraping the ants off her legs and then to scratch the bites.

Cameron: What's a fire ant? Are they anything like fleas? I don't like fleas 'cause they bite.

Sam: Fire ants don't just bite and make you itch, they sting multiple times and their venom makes one feel like they lit a number of fires and are roasting marshmallows for fun.

Percy: Roasting marshmallows does sound like fun. But the bite and sting part doesn't sound like fun.

Buddy: Fire ants are in the same classification as bees and wasps, but fire ants don't just sting once, they keep stinging.

Micah:  Oh, so that's why Jan was splashing tea tree oil on her legs when you got back from your walk.

Merci:  Yes, Jan has been using that tea tree oil on fire ant bites for years.

Sam:  Well, if she'd stop standing on them, she wouldn't get bitten and she wouldn't need anything to kill the pain.

Percy:  True, but we all know Jan is a klutz, so if there are fire ants around, she'll step into the middle of them.

Cameron:  I know how to solve that!  We have a smoke detector to warn us the next time Jan melts a tea kettle.  We need to get Jan a fire ant detector to go off when she's anywhere near fire ants.

Rusty:  That's not a half bad idea. Do you think we can find a good deal on Amazon?
