Farewell Cousin Andy
Although we try to keep the blog light as much as possible, sometimes life intervenes, as it has today.
Today's post is for Jan's brother Mr. Doug and Miss Teresa. Cousin Andy lost his battle with lymphoma on Saturday.
Run pain free, handsome boy. You were sweet and greatly loved.
Some of you might remember Alex from Alexicon: A Kitty Kat's Life With His Hooman blog. After a long illness, his human Nicholas Temple died in hospice on Saturday the 4th. We're not sure where Alex is, but believe he is safe and in good hands. Jan has been following his health trials on Facebook and it seems fitting that even though he hasn't blogged in a couple of years, his passing should be noted among the pet blogging community.

Leapfrog With A Unicorn
Cyndi: Would you mind if I give you a piece of advice, Merci?
Merci: No, I could probably use some.
Cyndi: Well, I read this somewhere and I have been itching to share it with someone.
Merci: Okay, go ahead and share.
Cyndi: Never play leapfrog with a unicorn.
Merci: I'm sorry, what did you say?
Cyndi: I said to never -
Merci: I heard what you said. I just didn't understand it.
Cyndi: It means just what it sounds like. You play leapfrog with a unicorn and you're going to get stabbed in the butt with its horn.
Merci: I understood that. What I don't understand is what it has to do with me. I've never met a unicorn.
Cyndi: When you do, you'll know not to -
Merci: Stop saying that! I have never met a unicorn. Have you?
Cyndi: No, but -
Merci: Are you planning to?
Cyndi: I hope not.
Merci: I'm about 15 years old. I stopped playing leapfrog years ago; however, if a unicorn stops by, I'll be sure to not play leapfrog with it.
Cyndi: Good. I've been a little concerned since Jan said she's thinking about getting a unicorn.
Merci: Unicycle, Cyndi, unicycle! It's a tall bike with one big wheel. And what she said is that she's glad she never had to ride one. She hates heights.
Cyndi: Oh. But in case Jan does bring home a unicorn, would you mind passing that advice on to the others?
Have a great weekend. See you Monday.

Invisible Videos
Cyndi: Hello, hello, anyone out there? This is Cyndi reporting from safely within her green cave.
Percy: Hello, hello, reporting ... green cave? What language is that?
Rusty: I think it's Confused. As in, Cyndi had too much nip after breakfast.
Cyndi: I did not. I was just trying to see if anyone was paying attention.
Percy: You have our attention. What is there to report?
Cyndi: This.
Rusty: It looks like a tree.
Cyndi: That's because it is a tree. A lopsided old oak with dead branches sticking out everywhere. It reminds me of Jan's hair when she wakes up in the morning. Not dead, just sticking out everywhere.
Percy: And we're posting this because ...?
Cyndi: Because Jan likes the tree. And because we don't have anything else to post today.
Rusty: But we have lots of pictures to post.
Percy: Actually, Cyndi's right. Jan upgraded to Windows 10 Saturday. It took from 5:22 to 8:02 and then she spent 3 hours trying to close windows and lock doors because she didn't want it to let in the clouds.
Rusty: I think you mean she didn't want to use the Cloud features so she turned them off until/unless she figures them out.
Cyndi: We know a lot of you have upgraded. How do you like it? We went from 7 to 10 and there are some big differences.
Percy: One of the things that has Jan frustrated is that she was used to using Windows Explorer to view her photos and to tag, title and comment on them in batches after she downloaded them from the camera. Win10 doesn't have that feature and she hasn't yet figured out how to do that again.
Rusty: We have hardly been able to visit because Jan has been hogging the computer. She downloads photos into Picasa on the computer but not our new vidoes because they're invisible to Picasa (and to us) on the camera. Both her Sony cameras can only make HD or MP4 movies.
Cyndi: HD can be seen and played in Picasa, but not MP4. MP4 videos are invisible. She finally found a photo program installed some time ago that downloaded mp4, but then she had to turn detective to find where it had hidden the videos.
Percy: We have had to go without treats while all the attention has been going to the computer. We would be jealous but Jan keeps threatening to send Win 10 to the shredder.
Rusty: If you have a suggestion how Jan can tag and title her pictures in batches again, please let us know or we'll have to keep posting the picture of the tree.
Cyndi: I guess we should be thankful Jan hasn't blown up the computer. Yet.
Percy: We're exaggerating a bit. There are some good things about Win 10. But ... helllllllp!
NOTE: Thanks for the suggestions so far, but the problem I am having is how to tag, etc, photos in batches. Cortana, One Drive, etc, etc, etc, etc were turned off Saturday night. I can't believe MS took away that function. Finding and remembering where things are takes time - lots of time.

Half Mile Run
Marcus: Please bow your heads and talk softly. We don't want Jan to hear us plotting against her.
Merci: I'm not sure about this. One of us could get hurt.
Buddy: We all agreed it's for her own good. Jan needs the exercise.
Merci: Yes, but she's old. We're old too. I don't think I can keep up with the rest of you.
Marcus: Sure you can, Merci. Just keep those short legs pumping. And, Buddy, breathe from your diaphragm.
Buddy: How can I breathe from something I can't spell and I don't know what or where it is?
Marcus: It's a muscular partition separating the abdominal and thoracic cavities. It functions in respiration.
Merci: I don't know anything about that, but I sure hope my lungs still function so I can breathe.
Buddy: I used to have stamina, but I lost it on one of our extended walks. I'll do my best.
Marcus: If we all go together, Jan will follow one way or another. On her feet or on her face.
Buddy: I hope it's on her feet. I forget how to dial 9-1-1.
Marcus: On the count of three. One ... two ... RUUUUNNNN! Hey, why are you both lying down?
Merci: We just finished a half mile run. I'm exhausted.
Marcus: Half mile? You ran three steps. Jan isn't even winded.
Buddy: That's okay. We are.
Merci: This was a good workout, Marcus. We'll have to try it again some day.
