BUDDY: Do you think anyone would believe how close we came to not being able to post our peace globe today, or at least not until this evening?
PERCY: Probably not but even thought it wouldn't have been Jan's fault, let's share the story anyway. It is kind of comical and Jan is still laughing about what happened to poor Mr. Bewildered.
BUDDY: We returned from our early morning walk yesterday to a message on the answering machine. It was a bit hard to understand but Jan returned the call. There was a lot of static on the line, plus a dial tone and a busy signal -- ALL at the same time she was trying to have a conversation. A short one, since they could barely hear each other.
PERCY: A couple of hours later, the phone rang and her brother's name appeared in caller ID. As soon as she picked up the phone, the call was disconnected. She tried several times to return the call but kept getting the static, dial tone and busy signal (hereafter designated SDTBS) simultaneously.
BUDDY: Finally, she reached Mr. Doug and they tried to open a conversation over the SDTBS. Suddenly a male voice demanded, :WHO ARE YOU?" "Who are YOU?" Jan replied. The bewildered male voice said, "I was speaking to someone in repair to report a problem with my phone when I was cut off and I got you."
PERCY: So Jan and Mr. Doug and Mr. Bewildered had a very short old time party line conversation, as they could barely hear each other. Jan then tried to call the phone company to report the problem. Despite the SDTBS, Jan heard a distinct echo when the auto responder voice said, "It appears you are calling from..." - and it usually speaks your phone number for you to verify or correct.
BUDDY: But the echo duplication stopped after the first five numbers. The last 5 were different. Jan was doing the impossible - calling in from more than one phone at the same time.
PERCY: How could Jan report this? Aha! She went to the company's online site and found Live Chat. She initiated a chat with the subject "phone service is wonky". Live Chat is not an express way to accomplish anything but a nice man wrote up a repair ticket, saying there were evidently several lines crossed and the problem would be fixed by 7 p.m. today.
BUDDY: We will spare you the phone "fun" of the next few hours, but Jan left for errands at 2 and returned at 4 p.m. The internet was dead and so was the phone. We were not only cut off from contact with the world, but there was little hope for finishing this post for today.
PERCY: And then, half an hour later, the dead phone rang! A cheerful repairman said he was right outside. He had found and fixed the SDTBS problem. We did a happy dance. We hope Mr. Bewildered had reason to do a happy dance too.
BUDDY: And, thus, we are able today to post for peace. Have a peaceful day!

Still Raring To Go
BUDDY: It isn't fair! You got to go for a walk today, Marcus. We haven't been on a walk in two days.
MERCI: Yeah how come you rated a walk and we didn't?
MARCUS: I guess I'm just more fun to take walking than you guys are.
SAM: Baloney, Marcus! How could you be fun? You're always into mischief.
MARCUS: My point exactly. I'm more fun.
PERCY: Relax guys. I asked Jan when they returned and she collapsed onto a chair. She said Marcus is so full of energy, she just had to do something to try to curb it.
CYNDI: Did it work? Will Marcus be calmer this evening?
RUSTY: No way! Jan walked him till her legs are falling off and he is still raring to go.
MICAH: In case you're wondering why the dogs haven't been walked in a couple of days, these pictures were taken in May, but this is pretty much what our dog pen looks like again.
MERCI: Anyone in the path of the rain, stay dry.
CYNDI: And be thankful the weather is mild.
UPDATE by BUDDY: Well, after we set this to auto publish as we slept last night, the sun came out and Jan did walk the rest of us dogs. (Now just to be clear, we set this yesterday afternoon to auto publish during the night. We did not physically set it to auto publish while we were sleeping. That would be weird.) Marcus was in a huff we left without him since it was his regular time to walk and wanted a second trip.
Tomorrow is Blog4Peace Day 2015. Don't forget to title your post "Dona Nobis Pacem". And send Mimi Lennox a link to your peace graphic on FB at BlogBlastForPeace.

Talking With Mouth Closed
MICAH: We're on a roll here, not accomplishing much of anything.
RUSTY: Our intention was to post today but time got away from us.
MERCI: Yes, Jan was working on our peace graphic for Wednesday.
SAM: Don't forget November 4th is the big day for peace globes.
CYNDI: Actually we keep forgetting and keep getting reminded. And then forget again. And finally Jan did something about it.
MARCUS: It must be a special day for me. Jan keeps telling me I need to learn to keep the peace instead of trumpeting it into oblivion. I don't know what that means but it sounds exciting.
BUDDY: It means you have an annoying voice and you are constantly vocal. Try talking with your mouth closed.
PERCY: Since we didn't have time to prepare anything, we'll just add a short video. You know we love baby elephant videos. This little one is having fun chasing birds. Oh, that Marcus could have such fun while being this quiet.
If the video doesn't play, click here.

Daylight Savings Baby Goats
SAM: Oops. Jan wasn't the only one who goofed last night. We forgot to change the auto post time and we're just getting online at noon. *covers eyes with paw*
MERCI: Well, the 2015 Daylight Savings Time ended on a note reminiscent of Jan's first fall here.
CYNDI: Jan was on the ball, but all that climbing while working around the house addled her brain more than usual.
PERCY: To be sure she doesn't forget, when the time changes, she goes around the house in the early evening and resets anything that keeps time.
SAM: She reset the alarm clock in the bedroom when she moved it earlier while cleaning.
RUSTY: At dinnertime, she walked through the house, changing the time on all the clocks. And then reset her watch, as she took it off and put it away for the night.
MARCUS: She made a note to check the cameras and the cordless phone tomorrow.
MICAH: She sat down at the computer, very proud of herself. And then she remembered she had just set everything ahead one hour instead of one hour back.
BUDDY: We figure she can use a Sunday Smile so we'll share this very short, fun video with her - and with you. Look at all those adorable baby goats running and "talking" at the same time.
